I've embarrassed for Meghan saying that her arranging takeaway food on a plate is the same thing as what Figs Heather Hasson has done 😬

I noticed and mentioned on another thread that Gwyneth Paltrow was interviewing entrepreneur Emma Grede on her podcast and thought maybe she was throwing some shade MM’s way. Then I looked at Grede’s instagram and she had recently interviewed GP for her own podcast. It just seems to be a merry go round of California women interviewing each other, what a bore.

Mylovelygreendress · 14/05/2025 11:15

Did she really say she doesn’t have time to cook every day ??

Thedom · 14/05/2025 11:23

Looks like no one is listening to it since the first two episodes.

Did anyone see this, the podcast Meghan was a guest on, cringe doesn't even touch the surface.

I’m not sure why a take away needs “elevating” anyway. It is what it is - a time saver when you can’t/ don’t want to cook. Nothing wrong with that. Surely if you need to fiddle with it and add extra bits, you may as well have cooked it yourself anyway? And if a take away needs to be made to look appetising, why are you eating it anyway 🤷‍♀️

flapjackfairy · 14/05/2025 11:29

Can you imagine anyone being able to get through a full interview of this stuff and that interviewer has got to be the woman with the most annoying voice on the planet. .Is this the interview where M said that when Archie and lily grow up she wants them to.say that their mother loved them.more than anyone has ever loved anyone else ( or words to that effect ).
Or did I dream that ?

flapjackfairy · 14/05/2025 11:31

Ps Love your ( intentional ? ) typo in thread title.

RandyRedHumpback · 14/05/2025 11:38

I don't think many commentators are interested in the podcast anymore. But I found this really interesting video, linked below. It sounds like the latest interviewee, Heather Hanson who created a medical wear company, is a really impressive woman, and not a friend of Meghan (although her business partner may be), so there's is not a load of breathy sighing, vocal fry and mutual love and affirmation. And guess what, Meghan's voice sounds normal too! However, from the clips that are played, her word salad and self referential style of Q&A is still there. She even gets in a reference to "dragon slaying"!

Ugh, I couldn't listen to any more of Meghan after that first clip, I don't think there is anyone who she could interview who would make me want to suffer Meghans word salad and self promotion.

RandyRedHumpback · 14/05/2025 12:05

Fair enough @Thedom ! It's just a really interesting study in the mimicking that MM does (mirroring is very much a narcissistic trait), coupled with how MM sounds utterly stupid compared to this impressive woman and her experiences, especially when MM is trying to make it about herself and put the two of them on the same level.

Oh cripes...
I listened to a little bit: the vocal fry! Not Meghan, tbf, so much as the interviewer.
Why do middle aged women want to sound like Bette Davies looks in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?"?

Thedom · 14/05/2025 12:20

I watched one of Gwyneth Paltrows recent podcast for the Goop, about a NY coach who people pay to 'coordinate' their cosmetic surgery.

I was never a fan of Gwyneth, but she was a surprisingly good interviewer, although they did do the Hollywood 'I love yous' at the end of the podcast, but I will hand it to Gwyneth, she asked relevant questions and on the few occasions when she did speak about her own experiences it was relevant to the topic and it didn't overwhelm the discussion..

Meghan is so unrelatable even with a potential good interviewee.

JADS · 14/05/2025 14:17

I might give this one a listen based off the review. Figs is a real phenomenon in health care and this lady sounds like she has Meghan's number.

Figs as in the scrubs?

Yes, those are the ones. My colleagues love them!

Why do they talk like children?

MrsLeonFarrell · 14/05/2025 15:16

Maybe it would have been better to start with people who aren't her friends? If this interview was first do those who listened to it think it would have been well reviewed?

Why do they talk like children?

Both in what they say and how they say it. It is actually embarrassing.

I remember reading that on the set of her first film, the 19 year old Lauren Bacall was terrified (horribly antisemitic director for a start) She however, acting or not, comes over as an adult woman in the pitch of her voice, expression and poise.

Meghan and "friends"- be more Lauren. You're near middleaged women.

I listened yesterday. It feels like a breakthrough. There was a little of Meghan and a lot of Figs. Meghan asked (mostly short-ish) questions and Figs told her interesting story. Meghan's questions illicited what you'd expect a podcast about female founder to be about - sources for the business, refining the product, production, financing, market positioning and usp, scaling up. What was mercifully missing: gushing, exclaiming, girl bonding, eulogising Meghan.

My money is on Limonada reading the comments and coaching her to ask a question then be quiet. Will she be able to sustain it into next week?

Oooh interesting. I actually listened to the Cadi the hairdresser episode all the way through because it was less Meghan and more Cadi. Also Cadi isn't a mom so there was minimal mommy banter.

As I said Figs scrubs are brilliant for those that care about how you look at work. They look very smart and she really spotted a gap in the market.

I agree, either someone had said something to her or she's read the reviews.

I'm going with the the former because she lacks the humility to autocorrect.
