Not listened to the first in Meghan's podcast series, a conversation with the founder of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Heard, but the Mail has collated all the press reviews so far, with links. The Guardian, Telegraph and i-Paper are unanimous: the podcast is cloyingly dreadful.

The reviews for Meghan Markle's latest podcast are in! Two stars for Confessions of a Female Founder https://mol.im/a/14584193 via https://dailym.ai/android

my mistake!! Actually it was dr Michael Scott that made me unnecessary! 😳

Back in the 80s it was Michael " In Search of the Trojan War" Wood who sparked much unnecessariness 😂

It’s always the manly “ Michael’s “ causing these unnecessary moments! 🙄🤣

Cake from a packet mix!

Maybe if Meghan had waited until she had built up a successful business the podcast would work better. Or maybe if she had created something original, as her guests have. It must be hard to offer advice when you have barely sold anything and you are selling basics that are available everywhere for much cheaper prices.

Its now at 38 on the Spotify US charts, 39 on the UK charts and 47 on the Australian charts.

Ouch! That's going to hurt 🚑

She kind of reminds me of Marie Antoniette cosplaying as a shepherdess and milk maid in Petit Trianon, acting out the romantic side of being a girl boss without showing the actual hard work and grit that goes into it. Pretty much like the tradwife aesthetic that she’s going for in As Ever and With Love. Maybe she should rename herself “Meghantoinette” 🤣🫣

Like this - all dressed up in flowing floral with a lovely cuppa sun stewed tea while someone else pulls the udders?

She's not interviewing them really. She's using them as a mirroring device using their achievements or other experiences to say, me too; and then of course the obligatory praise of Meghan from the guest. The latest guest spends a lot of time fawning, including crediting Meghan as being a major donor - although I assume she really means Archewell, which is not the same thing at all.

The guests are merely a vehicle for her to talk about herself.

The Middletons are private people though with a private company so why would we know? It's like when people got excited about Doria's own people home venture in California. Who knows 🤷‍♀️

Didn't someone prove a few years' back that Doria's company was likely a shell company?

From what I remember. It seems to exist on paper and as a website - you cannot phone them - you have to send them your details (data harvesting?). It seems to have no business premises or employees - the registered business address is Meghan's lawyers. The company name "Loving Kindness Senior Care Management" has not been registered as a business name and there is another long-running company with a very similar name in a different state.

Ah you see we are not supposed to talk about that because she’s a private person!

It's almost like she's in an MLM showing pictures of her "working" by arranging the pink folders and paperclips.

It's almost like she's in an MLM showing pictures of her "working" by arranging the pink folders and paperclips.

Well she did basically do that in one of her instagram stories: she put up a video of her "proof-reading" the blurb on the side of one of her packages (to me it looked like she waved a gold pen randomly over some printed verbiage, there was no reading going on) on a desk full of read-to-assemble mock-up packaging - and I think some flowers in a jam jar. That was her getting ready to launch her products. Which was probably accurate: it's not like she had to do any recipe testing or write a cookbook or any of the other things required to create and bring a range of products to market. She literally only did decide which dozen or so products to go for from a list of another company's products, and which packaging to use. That's it.

I actually think that's really good going seeing as there are a lot of podcasts and this one sounds dire.

@Uricon2 - Back in the day my Anglo Saxon tutor - who was brilliant and so funny I used to leave his tutorials with a stitch but he was more Mr Chips - once said to me - I know more about Anglo Saxon history than that Woods fellow will ever know but unfortunately for me he is young and good looking and trendy. It seems to count nowadays 😂

There were questions around the finances and staff lay-offs pre-Covid and Carole was still insisting all was well as late as 2019:

https://archive.ph/EbetA

Interestingly after decades of being a partnership it became a private limited company in 2019 thereby limiting the Middleton's personal liability for any debts.

As an aside there have always been questions over how it became a multi million pound juggernaut when similar sized companies offering similar products were reporting profits of around £130k:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-wedding/8147929/Royal-Wedding-Middletons-money-how-was-it-made.html

Don't suppose we'll ever find out though.

I did an Anglo Saxon module too. My tutor was a lovely, interesting, serious man. I must have enjoyed the sessions because it was probably the only module I did where I didn't sleep in or go to the bar instead! 😁We were 5 females in a houseshare, and one had serious mental health issues, peaking in the March (her mother had taken her life in March previously). She scared the rest of us stupid because she said that, if she went down, she was taking everyone in the house with her!

I missed two weeks in a row and I got the loveliest handwritten letter from my tutor, complimenting my work and expressing concern that I hadn't been in class. I think I still have it somewhere.

After that, we spoke to someone in the uni, and housemate's dad came and took her home.

You just reminded me of that when you mentioned Anglo Saxon!! I don't remember one thing of it.

Maybe Doria will be the next female founder invited to confess - as she's spinning a lot of plates with this venture as CEO, CFO and Company Secretary.

I listen to a Lemonada podcast called Wiser than Me. Julia Louis Dreyfus interviews older women about what they have learned. Stunning interviews with Isabella Allende and Julie Andrews. Julia LD is funny, self deprecating and genuinely interested in and respectful of her guests.

Just to say thanks for mentioning this, I was looking for a new podcast. Love JLD and what amazing guests! Just shows what can be done if you have an intelligent, empathetic and respected host who has access to absolute megastar women.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 18/04/2025 12:48

Am I being blind or thick (or perhaps both)? I’ve looked several times over and can’t find COAFF on either the UK or US Spotify podcast charts? Surely it can’t have dropped off that quickly?

The guests are merely a vehicle for her to talk about herself.

I don’t know why she doesn’t just be done with it and have a series of monologues instead. Well she’s no raconteur but at least she can talk about herself to her heart’s content. A sort of Peter Ustinov or Kenneth Williams without the sharp wit.
