I assume it says everyone thinks they will split up?

EdithWeston · 18/12/2024 13:47

To quote Lord Percy from Blackadder - who knows or dares to dream?

This is speculative twaddle, probably SEI driven clickbait

VacuumPacked · 18/12/2024 13:48

what does it matter? these are Harry’s wilderness years which he has to navigate unaided
whilst we do our best in our own lives

Grabyourpassportandmyhand · 18/12/2024 13:49

Does it matter? Good luck to them.

FeegleFrenzy · 18/12/2024 13:49

Doesn’t seem to say much about their relationship. Netflix is apparently sick of them. Everyone in America is bored of them. Oprah didn’t invite them to her birthday party. All their projects are bombing.

Snorlaxo · 18/12/2024 13:50

That Netflix won’t renew their contracts and that America is bored of them because they don’t know current royal gossip.

🤣 👏🏼 Lord Percy quote 🤣
that’s brightened my day @EdithWeston

It’s still 9 months to the Netflix deal expires. I suppose Polo being newly out might make the wider Netflix relationship with Archewell something people are talking about right now.

There have also been a couple of pieces (one in Sept, one recent) saying the cookery/lifestyle show will appear in early 2025. With that as a wild card, is there really an ‘open secret’? Sounds more like a rehash of rumour (a la Puck)

WinterCrow · 18/12/2024 13:54

The big open secret is that they are boring people.

WinterCrow · 18/12/2024 13:56

I didn't know that the viewing figures for Heart of Invictus were that bad.

Oh that's quite disappointing the headline made me wonder what the secret was!
I'm such a sucker for a headline that doesn't pay out.

Obvioulsy it doesn't matter to my life. But I enjoy M&H gossip and speculation, they are fascinating and the story is dramatic psychologically.

It's the kind of story people have always been fascinated by. (Except for morally superior peole on the inetrent who need to let us know of their being above such things.)

I saw something earlier that the Netflix cooking show has been cancelled m. Except that it hasn't. It just might be.

And that's the thing, there are lots of mights and probablys. But they don't make headlines. And yes I do get the irony of commenting.

StrawberryWasp · 18/12/2024 14:04

Thanks for the link!

Disappointing, no actual secret.

The journalist though seems to be saying the Americams are bored of them and don't even follow them for gossip or 'hate watching.'
I wonder if that's different here? I am still interested in the gossip and would hate watch (for 20 mins anyway) a cookery show.

Am a miniority? Is veryone in the UK also bored with them?

Yes in reality no one knows.

The headline suggested they might know in the USA.

Glad I didn't subscribe to mail+ to find out!

I'm finding them increasingly boring as people, yes, because they're shallow and pretentious. And I don't like listening to their speaking styles.

However the shenanigans around them are interesting.

WellMaybe · 18/12/2024 14:40

Everyone in America is bored of them. Oprah didn’t invite them to her birthday party.

For some reason these two sentences made me laugh.

Can you imagine the 'AIBU to be disappointed that cliquish Oprah's excluding us from an event she always invited us to?'

I find their apparent total lack of self awreness and constant misjudgment so interesting. It makes me want to keep watching to see how it plays out: what did they think was going to happen? Why are they doing this? Surely they should be able to see this is a bad idea?

So I haven't lost interest yet.

I'll lose interest once they seem to have stability.

I play a little game in my head where they make (on my excellent advice 😃) all the right decisions and are now living a successful LA lifestyle, cool and relaxed, still on good terms with the RF and visit Sandringhma and Balmoral, but seem very aspirational with being informal, laid back, happy, but with links to the stuffy staid royal family.

They had a potential goldmine and they just blew it up.

They should have called me 😂.

I was curious about the article as well! The headline writers are good at their job.

cheezncrackers · 18/12/2024 15:01

I think what the writer is saying is that H&M attempting to break into the entertainment industry is over, that Netflix won't renew, that their Hollywood phase is circling the drain and everyone knows it. No one is interested in them any more, they had their chance, they failed to deliver, and all anyone ever wanted from them anyway was royal gossip, which they initially dished up in spades, but which has now run out and no more will be forthcoming. The entertainment industry has chewed them up, sucked up all the juice and is now spitting them out.

EdithWeston · 18/12/2024 15:05

I don’t think indifference has yet been reached.

But unfortunately for them, people are chattering about how and why they got so much do wrong, and waiting to see what happens next. Their credibility is long gone (too much of ‘their truth’ has been shown to be just plain wrong)

But I think people do still want to know if the lifestyle show will indeed emerge.

And what the prodigal son will do

I I don’t know how much interest they can sustain in the US. This time last year I was saying that 2024 would be the key year in which they needed to show a success. Looks like that will extend in to the early part of next year
