Does anyone feel like we’re not being told the whole truth here? Camilla has been ill for weeks now.

I don't know. She is the same age as my mother. She got a ready bad chest infection asthma winter and it was the start of her demise. Her body couldn't cope with it.

Camilla has had lots of stress recently with Charles and Kate being ill. It's probably all taken its toll on her.

BuddhaofSuburbia · 22/11/2024 17:14

Yes I’m sure it has. I feel sorry for her. She looked exhausted at times in Australia.

And her old dog died.

Comedycook · 22/11/2024 17:16

My guess is if she's recovering from a chest infection, I could well imagine she may have a lingering cough which is hardly ideal when you're sat in a theatre watching a show. So no, I doubt it's anything sinister.

BBC R4 news just now said she had been at engagements all week. This would have been one too many.

Slowtopic · 22/11/2024 17:17

The rest of the royals are just jealous she doesn’t have to go.

VesperLind · 22/11/2024 17:17

She was a heavy smoker for years so it’s likely that she has a susceptibility to chest infections now.

EdithWeston · 22/11/2024 17:18

Her health is a private matter, and it is entirely up to her to decide how much she wants in the public domain.

So yes, we know that we are not being told everything. And that's absolutely fine.

It could be anything from an infection that's being a bit hard to shift or covid (which sometimes seems to have a sting in the tail) through to something serious. And right now, there is no reason to give more information because same people are a bit curious about it.

BBC article

She returned to public duties last week, but is understood to still be under the weather after a busy week of engagements.
On Wednesday the Queen appeared at an event at the University of London, where she was presented with an honorary doctorate of literature by Princess Anne.
A Palace source said the Queen is disappointed to be missing the annual event at the Royal Albert Hall in London, but that she "is a great believer that 'the show must go on'".
"She hopes to be back to full strength and regular public duties very soon," the source added.
King Charles III will attend the show as planned.
The Queen's return to public duties had been adjusted to avoid any setback to her recovery.
Other events she attended this past week include a reception she hosted at Clarence House for authors shortlisted for this year’s Booker Prize, and a Buckingham Palace reception to celebrate the TV and film industry.
Both engagements were shorter than originally planned.

And her old dog died.

Indeed. That in itself must have knocked her sideways.

smallchange · 22/11/2024 17:23

Elderly woman in doesn't want to go out tonight after a chest infection shocker.

Apate · 22/11/2024 17:28

I don't blame her TBH. The RVS is shite.

Blogswife · 22/11/2024 17:39

I’ve had a chest infection for a couple weeks . One day I wake up fine then the next I feel worse. It’s taking some time to shift .If I had to go to the RVP I’d feign a relapse !

BuddhaofSuburbia · 22/11/2024 17:41

I have every sympathy with her, I don’t mean to seem to be criticising. I didn’t realise she’d had engagements all week.

isitsnowingyett · 22/11/2024 17:43

I'm younger than her and I've had to go out every day this week and I'm knackered 😂 less interesting stuff admittedly like the dentist.

OfDragonsDeep · 22/11/2024 17:44

I’d try and get out of it as well if I was her

AgnesX · 22/11/2024 17:45

ErrolTheDragon · 22/11/2024 17:15

And her old dog died.

I'm not surprised then really, especially if she's not been well on top of that.

Wendolino · 22/11/2024 17:46

I had a chest infection when I was 27 and had to have 2 weeks off work and felt worn out for a month. Camilla is what, 77? Not far off 80.
Also, a year of stress with the illnesses of her husband and step-dil, her beloved dog died and she had a chest infection. She deserves not to go to the worst event of the year!

CoffeeAndPeanuts · 22/11/2024 17:47

I agree with a PP, if I had a cough, I wouldn't feel comfortable attending a performance.

I wouldn't want to go to the RVP so I'd be using anything I could as an excuse not to go.

and she does need to rest up to get properly better.

so I don't think it means anything sinister at all.

viques · 22/11/2024 17:50

Who can blame her? They are usually dire. I expect she would rather curl up at home under an electric throw and watch a box set.

TheBigSalami · 22/11/2024 17:52

Perhaps she’s still coughing. That would be an ordeal at a long show.

Perhaps she’s glad of an excuse to get out of attending that dated old twaddle. Good for her.

Crazykefir · 22/11/2024 17:53

I cant belive the RVS is still going. Not watched it since I was a kid in the 80s. Was crap then.

TeamPolin · 22/11/2024 18:03

Jesus, I I'm almost decades younger than Camilla and I had a chest infection last year that absolutely floored me for weeks. I absolutely wouldn't have been up to sitting in a theatre for 2 hours trying to stifle my coughing.

NerrSnerr · 22/11/2024 18:07

You'd think people would have learned their lesson about speculating about ill health after Catherine was forced to announce her cancer because people wouldn't shut up about it.

She will disclose any health issues as and when she wants to.

EdithWeston · 22/11/2024 18:33

I've been getting RSV and RVS muddled up!

Makes for some interesting misreading Blush
