Does anyone feel like we’re not being told the whole truth here? Camilla has been ill for weeks now.

To be fair, she’s really stepped up.

Stepped up to do what?? 😂

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 03/12/2024 09:26

slightly outing as I had pneumonia 2 years ago. It has caused me so many health issues and I’m now forever on antibiotics or steroids for repeated chest infections.

LaMarschallin · 03/12/2024 09:27

MrsFinkelstein

Better prepare yourself, because they will also be your Queens.

Quite.
There's a lot of "She's not my Queen!" and name calling using things like "Side chick"/"Side Piece" (if I've got those right - I tend to skim ranty posts).
Makes no difference and certainly none to Camilla. Like it or not, she is Queen and some randomer saying she's not doesn't change that.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout

That doesn't sound any fun - you have my sympathy.

ooh, shall we guess who's shelling out for the funeral when she dies?
As her husband was too much of a tight bastard to pay for his own mother's, he'll no doubt get us to pay for his wife's too.

Whoever was head of state, the state would pay for their funeral so not sure what the relevance of the late Queen’s funeral is here. Anyway, the Queen has a chest infection. Not uncommon when you were / are a smoker. She isn’t at deaths door

zigzagzigzagz · 03/12/2024 12:35

I think she’s doing photos before the banquet and then the banquet, just not the outdoor stuff or the receiving line.

myrtleWilson · 03/12/2024 12:44

Costs for Prince Philip’s funeral and that of the Queen Mother were shared apparently so I’d imagine in the event of Camilla’s death a similar arrangement would occur

I don't know the ins and outs of royal funeral costs, but seeing that QE2's funeral was a big state occasion, why would you expect Charles to bear the full cost...

Semiramide · 03/12/2024 12:48

Anyway, this thread is about Camilla, not about funerals. I hope she recovers in time for Christmas and lives to a ripe old age!

Yes, as per the BBC she and Catherine are basically dividing the duties between them. It makes sense for Catherine to be outside and then rest in the evening and for Camilla to avoid the cold and then take over for the banquet.

because it's his mother and I don't want my money going towards a massive overblown affair

urghhh47 · 03/12/2024 13:27

Just wanted to add that I was just thinking about it more than anything! wish her well and hope it is just a lingering chest infection!!

Notmoog · 03/12/2024 13:49

I just hope there won't be days of it in the papers/ news when she dies. The sycophantic bollox when the last one and her husband died was ridiculous

BuddhaofSuburbia · 03/12/2024 14:55

Apparently she has pneumonia

I can't quite see it TBH, though any lack of perceived respect may have Charles chewing the carpet if he's still around by then

After all she's only had the job 5 minutes so it's hardly comparable to a 70 year reign, and given she's really not done that much in the time

It was viral pneumonia and she has largely recovered apart from some post virus fatigue. Sorry to spoil your unpleasant wishes for her. Are you always this unpleasant about older people?

no, just the hypocritical sponging bastard ones that you know when they die vast swathes of the country will feel sad for no reason. Same as the last one.

I'm no raging monarchist, but nothing makes me less inclined to the idea of a republic than the attitudes of some of the 'republicans' on this board. Deeply unpleasant.

Notmoog · 03/12/2024 16:20

I never said i wished her dead, just that it's very much a possibility.
TBH i never want them to die cos then we have the huge amounts of money spaffed on their funeral

Saying “Quite possibly die then. Can be nasty for old people” is reasonably to be interpreted as an implied wish that she would die. You are being disingenuous

Exactly. Having had pneumonia I can tell you it’s fairly vile and problems (certainly for me) can be ongoing for a long while after. It’s no walk in the park that’s for sure.

Sorry about your illness. I hope you ae fully recovered.

Campaigning for constitutional change is perfectly reasonable, but making nasty comments about individual royals isn't going to bring about the republic these posters claim to want.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 03/12/2024 16:38

Thank you. Due to repeated chest infections over the last 2 years following pneumonia and damage it’s caused I’m under respiratory consultant with express instructions that I see a GP as soon as symptoms start.

It’s not pleasant and for people to be crowing just because it’s a royal just shows them up quite frankly.
