Does anyone feel like we’re not being told the whole truth here? Camilla has been ill for weeks now.

Her health is a private matter, and it is entirely up to her to decide how much she wants in the public domain.

So yes, we know that we are not being told everything. And that's absolutely fine.

It could be anything from an infection that's being a bit hard to shift or covid (which sometimes seems to have a sting in the tail) through to something serious. And right now, there is no reason to give more information because same people are a bit curious about it.

Very well said, Edith

Admittedly I'm not an admirer and granted it's noticeable after the decades of the late Queen hardly cancelling anything, but that doesn't alter her health details being noine of our business

upinaballoon · 22/11/2024 19:59

I think she was due to go to the premiere of 'Gladiator 2' last week but didn't go to it, as one of the cuttings down on her engagements. If I were her I would say that what was good for one evening performance (i.e.miss it out) is good for another. I know which of the two I'd rather miss.

What 'truth' do 'we' need to be told however?

We are not her doctors. Members of the royal family also have the right to medical confidentiality.

Here we go again. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

I hate that all the press have dropped the ‘consort’ and call her Queen

She will never be Queen

Buckingham Palace announced last year that she was to be known as The Queen, and not Queen Consort.

AdventAnticipation · 22/11/2024 23:51

If she’s had what I’ve got, I don’t blame her!
I’ve barely left the house in about 12 days, very weak, coughing all the time, no appetite etc etc. I’m 60, so she’s a bit older, but this infection -whatever it is - has knocked me for six. It is certainly lingering.
I just couldn’t imagine the faff involved in having to go out in my finery, smiling, waving, making chit-chat, whilst feeling like death and desperately trying not to cough and sneeze everywhere!
I got sent home from work earlier in the week for “looking & sounding dreadful” and went straight to bed. Whatever luxury she lives in, if you’re ill, you’re ill. Hope she feels better soon.

Jesus, I I'm almost decades younger than Camilla and I had a chest infection last year that absolutely floored me for weeks. I absolutely wouldn't have been up to sitting in a theatre for 2 hours trying to stifle my coughing.

Sorry, missed your post, but we obviously of the same thought!🌻

TheDogBartholomew · 23/11/2024 00:11

People with coughs have no business being at any kind of theatrical performance, however dire.

You'd think people would have learned their lesson about speculating about ill health after Catherine was forced to announce her cancer because people wouldn't shut up about it.

She will disclose any health issues as and when she wants to.

Doubt anyone cares about her health. She is not Catherine, lots of people don’t like her and she is an old woman who is an ex smoker.

Edited

How charming ....

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/11/2024 10:14

She's not an "ex" smoker, @coldcallerbaiter - at least not when she's at Ray Mill, though probably Charles would have something to say about the fags being brought out at "home"

Does it also annoy you that the queen mother was also called Queen Elizabeth rather than Queen consort? Same for literally any other queen consort in history.

It's her title. It doesn't get changed because some people don't like her. That's a fundamental principle of a monarchy - you get what you get, like it or not.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 23/11/2024 10:27

I too would pull a sickie on that engagement if I were her.

She was Queen the instant her husband became King.

SnappyOwl · 23/11/2024 11:21

The Queen (yes, she is the queen whether you like her or not) is in her 70s and recovering from a chest infection.
I’m 42 recovering from a chest infection and cancelled on a night out last night.
I really don’t think there is any more to it than she doesn’t feel well so stayed home.

She is queen, so you'll just have to get used to it

Supersimkin7 · 23/11/2024 12:22

She’s never been a grafter, the poor old bird. Can you imagine suddenly having to work - age 75?

Loving the judgy smoking remarks. So original, so interesting.

To be fair, she’s really stepped up.

I'm beginning to think there's more to this than we are being told as she's pulled out of today too. I grant you she's mid 70s but my DM is 82 - she had a 7 hour back op to insert several screws at the beginning of August and went to Cyprus in September.

BuddhaofSuburbia · 03/12/2024 09:06

Poor woman. The RF really aren’t having a good year health wise.

She was Queen the instant her husband became King.

It's so odd that people can have strong opinions about the RF whilst apparently knowing next to nothing about how it works or its history.
It's like they sprang into being at around the time "The Crown" started (no coincidence, I suspect) and probably came from...umm...King Arthur, then the bad one with the nephews in a carpark, then Victoria-and-Alfred (who burnt the cakes and also invented genital piercing under the alias Albert)...

Anyway. I agree with PPs that it is all a bit worrying about the Queen; it's been a month or so now, which is a long time to be getting over a chest infection.
Hope she's okay.

I hate to be the one who tells you this - but she is Queen.

Queen is the title - Regnant or Consort the role. GB has had Queens (Consorts) from 1901 - 1952. We have only ever had 8 Queen Regnants in our history.

We will have Queen (Consorts) for the foreseeable future. Better prepare yourself, because they will also be your Queens.

TeaMistress · 03/12/2024 09:21

Bless her. Hope she feels better soon. Chest infections can be lingering for older people.

But she literally is the queen 😄. That’s the deal with the royals - the plebs don’t get to choose!
