Does anyone feel like we’re not being told the whole truth here? Camilla has been ill for weeks now.

Exactly. Having had pneumonia I can tell you it’s fairly vile and problems (certainly for me) can be ongoing for a long while after. It’s no walk in the park that’s for sure.

Sorry to hear that and hope you’ll be feeling fighting fit again soon 💐

Pneumonia can be “nasty” for anyone at any age and is certainly not pleasant, so posters who are sneery about it (or any other illness for that matter) need to give their heads a wobble

Notmoog · 03/12/2024 16:42

it just frustrates me that people are on here wishing her well etc. when none of you know her, she could be a hideous person. It's mad

Apate · 22/11/2024 17:28

I don't blame her TBH. The RVS is shite.

Quite agree ,i always imagine them picking straws as to who ends up going, in her shoes i think my 'chest infection' would stop me attending too .

It is basic humanity to wish someone well when they are ill

Even if she is a 'hideous person' I wouldn't wish ill health on her.

But that's not what your posts were saying anyway. We can all read what you wrote.

MaturingCheeseball · 03/12/2024 16:58

Agree about how vile some people are being. I’m ambivalent about Camilla but sneering and jeering shows a black heart.

I too contracted pneumonia a few years ago. I was in hospital for two weeks as it turned into sepsis. Left me a real weakling.

JSMill · 03/12/2024 17:05

Well said @smilesy.

That’s odd. She’s a public figure, I think it’s a pretty natural reaction to wish her well without needing to know details of her personality. People wished Kate well too when she had cancer. We know nothing about any of them, but for now, they constitute a royal family.

It certainly leaves some weaker I hope you are stronger now

It frustrates you that people are wishing another human being well when they are poorly.....so people showing empathy, humanity and kindness upsets you???

Are you OK?

allthatfalafel · 03/12/2024 17:21

I think it's weird they only all started getting ill after the queen died. Never heard anything about their health before that except Kate's pregnancy sickness.

Given the queen died of cancer and didn't want it to get out, I can only assume that now they've all decided they're able to be a lot more open about their health now she isn't there to prevent it being said.

RaininSummer · 03/12/2024 17:24

Maybe Camilla just wanted a believable excuse for not attending the ghastly variety show.

Havalona · 03/12/2024 17:26

They are public figures, so one way or another (mostly the press and SM) there will be comments on every tic, cough and diagnosis.

Maybe retirement at State Pension age is something that could be brought in. I think the K+Q might be delighted with that. Seems cruel to me that they have to go out in all weathers and stand in the cold, and listen to and watch mostly drivel when all they want to do is sit at home with a G+T and a fag. Well maybe she will move on to vapes now.

I am a little younger than Camilla, non smoker and have had every jab you could think of by mid Nov. Covid, Flu, Pneumococcal, and will get the Shingles vax in the New Year. I got a cold and cough on 1Dec . Feel crap, but it's not any of the above. I don't want to go outside at all.

But it's not like they've reached their seventies after a lifetime of hard graft...they've had a pretty easy life so far. They haven't been slogging their guts out for decades in a 9-5 with only a few weeks off per year... commuting on public transport as well as having to do all their own housework, cooking, house maintenance etc.

Havalona · 03/12/2024 17:59

@Comedycook I know what you mean. However having the younger ones ready to take over at a specified time might be good for everyone. I'm not ageist either, given my own age and stage in life!

There may be cries of derision about them living a life of retired luxury and putting their feet up etc. etc. But they are vastly wealthy anyway, nothing will change that.

TBH I don't really take much heed of them but I have empathy when they must go to the RVP. I'd rather suck lemons.

Comedycook · 03/12/2024 18:05

I suppose the whole concept of hereditary monarch means that you end up doing that job when you're older and at the end of your life and it's kind of upside down

WillowTit · 03/12/2024 18:07

i wish her well, pneumonia is awful at her age especially.

Very true. But it can still be hereditary, just not when the present incumbent dies.

WillowTit · 03/12/2024 18:08

and not good for Charles and William either, more pressure

MrsFinkelstein · 03/12/2024 19:24

Notmoog · 03/12/2024 16:10

no, just the hypocritical sponging bastard ones that you know when they die vast swathes of the country will feel sad for no reason. Same as the last one.

I bet you're fun at parties 🙄

I used to be a fairly lukewarm Republican, but the attitude of anti-Monarchists (boring, repetitive, rude, miserable, ill-informed) has turned me into a lukewarm Royalist.

"bet you're fun at parties" is obviously the phrase of the month.
Seen it on so many threads on here recently.
Loathing the concept of a monarchy doesn't make someone boring at parties

Mylovelygreendress · 03/12/2024 21:43

Glad to see Camilla at the State Banquet . Her jewellery is spectacular. Not my taste but stunning .
David and Victoria Beckham are there , wonder what H and M think about that ?

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 03/12/2024 22:06

I know it's morbid but would she have a state funeral as wife of the king. ?

Baital · 03/12/2024 22:28

There's not much recent precedent. Philip's was during covid restrictions. The queen mother's was quarter of a century ago and she was a longstanding relict from a different era, let alone queen Mary in the 1950s.

Presumably some sort of state occasion, but not on the same scale as previous queens consort.

It depends how you view an easy life, I'd rather slog on every day tasks and have the freedom to go out for a drink with my friends than being papped by the press and judged by millions of people. Have every word scrutinised and repeated. Being told what to wear, where I'm allowed to go, what I'm allowed to voice an opinion on. Forced to lots of boring events and pretending to be interested in people. Horrible.
