Harry Says His Fight Against Tabloids Is a 'Central Piece' of Rift with the Royal Family

Is there anyone in the public eye more delusional and lacking in self-awareness than Harry?

The Duke of Sussex, 39, sat down for a new interview for ITV's documentary Tabloids on Trial, premiering on Thursday, July 25. In a preview released a day before the airing, Harry discussed his reasons for publicly pursuing lawsuits against publications over allegations of phone hacking and other unlawful acts — a contrast from his brother, Prince William, who reportedly quietly received a "very large sum of money" in a settlement from News Group Newspapers (NGN) in 2020 amid a claimed "secret agreement" with the royals.
ITV's Rebecca Barry asked Prince Harry in the clip, "To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?"
"I think that's certainly a central piece to it," the Duke of Sussex replied. "That's a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press."
"I've made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done. It would be nice if we did it as a family," he continued. "I believe that, again, from a service standpoint and when you're in a public role, that these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. But I'm doing this for my reasons."

Harry and Meghan will also 'engage in several activities' related to 'cyberbullying, online exploitation and the mental health impacts of these threats'.

From the DM article linked above. Yet still no condemnation of the online bullying of the Princess of Wales or concern over how her mental health may have been impacted 🙄

masomenos · 01/08/2024 15:08

I think part of the reason Meghan wanted nothing to do with Spare, and (if true) wants him to move on from his doomed litigation in the U.K. are (1) they reflect poorly on him and therefore her (2) she’s proven that she has no problem with turning her back on people and situations in her past who no longer are useful to her (3) they’re expensive, financially or in terms of social currency.

I can see this being labeled as “dynamic”, “forward thinking”, “hard-working” and “visionary”. My version would say disloyal, brutally lacking in empathy, puerile, duplicitous.

They are off to that very safe country…..Colombia!

you couldn’t make it up. The day after he bangs on about the UK being unsafe

Edited

Oh my word. Tell me you’re a British aristocrat for hire by whoever can’t get top drawer celebs/figureheads to advertise for them, without telling me you’re a British aristo….

Utterly, utterly cringeworthy.

(Also, Colombia is beautiful and lots of fun - not dissing the country at all. But really. How anyone can undertake a charitable visit to this country to talk about cyber bullying etc under the arc of Archewell WITHOUT talking about the toll the drugs cartels take on children, men and women in that same country, is unfathomable. How can they expect to be taken remotely seriously???)

MummyJ12 · 01/08/2024 15:13

So many questions!

Will Meghan claim an ancestral link?
Will Columbia be Markled in some way?
Will they use this as an example of why Harry believes he’s entitled to IPP status?
Will they take their Sussex Squad again?
Is this because they have less than a year left of their Netflix contract and they need more material or to look more bankable?

The lack of self awareness is just staggering though 😮.

sausawyee · 01/08/2024 15:13

Harry is barking mad. He's desperate.

Exactly and all the techniques they themselves have used to discredit people.

sausawyee · 01/08/2024 15:17

I think Colombia has more to worry about than online bullying.

"Significant human rights issues included credible reports of: unlawful or arbitrary killings; torture and arbitrary detention by government security forces and armed groups; serious abuses in a conflict; criminalization of libel; serious government corruption; violence against and forced displacement of Afro-Colombian and Indigenous persons; violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex persons; and killings of and other violence against trade unionists."

Good point re the drugs and the toll on women and children

Twistybranch · 01/08/2024 15:27

They are now talking about bullying ……

Meghan looks really different….cant pinpoint why? The hair maybe?

Vespanest · 01/08/2024 15:30

In one week Harry has told an international audience that the UK is unsafe despite a bespoke security arrangement but has complete trust in Columbia security service to visit and yet it’s the UK who are obsessed with Harry. Oh and it’s all the Kings fault and he thinks William is a coward.

sausawyee · 01/08/2024 15:32

Blah blah blah people don't know how to respond ... blah blah... we are so fucking great ... is Harry saying he didn't know how to respond when Meghan felt suicidal? It's actually all so ludicrous - two people like this who have stirred up so much hate and dissension within their own families sitting there talking 💩 like this. I think they must be really stupid.

Twistybranch · 01/08/2024 15:35

Yes, that must be the angle. The online hate with Meghan….. she was suicidal and yet he couldn’t help….because even the best first responders in the world wouldn’t know what to do.

Ok Harry? Medical professionals aren’t trained in spotting the signs of suicide ideation??? No Harry, you didn’t know what to do. Don’t blame others

Make up very toned down, much less bronzer, Harry's balls removed from the necklace? Looks like new wig or extensions. Maybe eyebrows less than Nigeria.

Ordinary lashes instead of full Russian 🤗

sausawyee · 01/08/2024 15:38

Bit of weight on her face too I think.

JSMill · 01/08/2024 15:41

'Even the best first responders in the world wouldn't be able to tell the possible signs of suicide'.
What utter nonsense. Wtf does he think he is such an expert and knows better than anyone?

Twistybranch · 01/08/2024 15:41

I thought maybe a light touch of filler around the cheekbones. She had lost a lot of weight and it affected the youthfulness of her face but seems full again.

You could be right

I wonder when this was recorded as she looked like this a few days ago

It’s absolutely comical watching them hold court and proselytise so earnestly about online bullying- they really are the gift that keeps giving.

Jonathan Swift would have had an absolute field day with this pair 😂

MummyJ12 · 01/08/2024 15:59

I think she looks lovely. I don’t ever feel comfortable commenting on anyone’s looks or aesthetics. (Except wardrobe choices!)

I’ll stick to commenting on what they get up to.

Looks like there will be lots more to discuss here too…..!

The gift that keeps giving indeed!

And the grift that keeps grifting! 😂

I really think this recording is from before the Nigeria trip and maybe from 5/6 months ago.

Yes, she definitely looks different (not in a negative way) from the Hamptons Boss Lady luncheon
