Looks like William took George and Charlotte to see Taylor Swift for his birthday. Looks like Taylor was just as happy to meet them as they were to meet her.

@PrincessMee Those are the most adorable sheep I’ve ever seen. If I’m a sheep I want to be one of those 😍

Are there any threads on the royal forum any more that don’t end up in a squabble of some sort?

Edited

We tried once, genuinely. Then people came on and were offensive about Camilla, Kate and William. This should be a nice thread about a happy occasion, but just look at how some posters have behaved. Negative, rude, mendacious and sneery. Shame.

Yet you post vociferously on this thread about something you don’t care about, I have no interest in football, I don’t post on those threads. I find it really strange to put so much thought and argue with posters about a subject that holds no interest. It seems the Royal Family board is a magnet for people who have no interest in the the Royal Family, a weird phenomenon.

I don't like football my partner does and sometimes I have discussion with him about it. I agree or disagree with him and I can't stand sitting there watching men kicking around a football.

Did the random/favourite photos thread descend into this?

I was thinking of starting another one as it was really good seeing old and different pics of various royals, but I didn’t see how it ended so might be pointless

That's not sponging. They will be paying their taxes through work, VAT etc etc, and getting something back in return. And if they qualify for benefits, they will rightly receive them.

Being part of a family that doesn't work and receives hundreds of millions based on their ancestors- that's sponging!

Don't be so silly!

DelectableMe · 23/06/2024 19:00

Some people just got very offensive. Some of us tried to keep it nice with various pictures, but it's too much for some people to refrain from the hate.

Every time. Every bloody time. It's like a siren goes off. And it's not that they come on here and say 'well, I'm a republican and I don't agree with the institution but that was a nice picture, good to see the kids having a great time,' they are as DelectableMe says, negative, rude, mendacious, sneery and sometimes downright spiteful. Have a look at the William's birthday thread if you doubt that. People on there for the sole purpose of posting negative comments.

Watching other children smile does not bring joy to my life. My life is filled with other joyful things to do.

I guess it's the same with football as the RF then - spout a load of shite about something you know nothing about!!

Where do you think the crown jewels come from?

TinklySnail · 23/06/2024 19:04

@pleasehelpwi3 we get it, you want a republic. As yet though you haven’t given any credible evidence as to why a President would be better than a monarchy.

Don't my children are happily playing upstairs thank you. That's what gives me joy and happiness when my children are happy.

Uricon2 · 23/06/2024 19:06

They start with photos and nice things or interest and always then descend into faux republican faux outrage at the existence of the monarchy. There is plenty of room to discuss alternative systems respectfully, but no, always the threads that are positive in any way about the RF. "You are sheep, fawning, grovelling, forelock tugging" and every kind of whataboutery.

Before Kate made her statement about her cancer treatment, it was utterly horrifying and frankly, this is nothing at all by comparison.

I can understand that, I have to show interest in my husband’s cycling hobby, it’s what couples tend to do, I have zero interest in cycling, what I don’t do is seek out threads about cycling and spend a couple of days posting on said thread about how I don’t care about cycling and arguing about it with total strangers as that would be utterly bizarre.

Then maybe you should get yourself off the internet and get yourself some joy and happiness by playing with them?

That doesnt alter the fact that you dont get joy from a childs smile.
Thats quite strange IMO.

Notably S.Africa and India from colonial ear

DelectableMe · 23/06/2024 19:09

I wouldn't mind if there was a decent quality of discussion or debate, but knowledge is lacking and evidence weak, or from so long ago it's lost it's relevance.
The number of times someone doesn't know what a Head of State is (some thought it was the Prime Minister!), or what a Constitutional Monarchy is, or what the Interregnum was. I just think people should inform themselves rather than bandy about shocking levels of ignorance.

You like the royal family and what they stand for they make you feel proud to be British. There's nothing wrong with that but you can't pretend and hide away history as if it never happened.

A child that I don't know why would I. I knew nothing about the photo until this thread.

DelectableMe · 23/06/2024 19:12

The other day someone wrote that the King could change laws, no-one can change the line of succession, and we'll wait until "the next Interregnum"🙄
Wrong, wrong, wrong.

The Black Prince's ruby? Mary, Queen of Scots pearls? The sapphires and emeralds bought in the Middle East and Baghdad by agents for Richard II and Henry IV?
