Looks like William took George and Charlotte to see Taylor Swift for his birthday. Looks like Taylor was just as happy to meet them as they were to meet her.

On Mumsnet it seems almost universally accepted by child free people that people with children don’t pay tax and we all sponge off of them. Doesn’t even matter if they are earning minimum wage in a dead end job and the parent in question is a high earner, still sponging.

It’s totally batshit but you won’t win an argument against them when they are convinced they are hard done by.

smilesy · 23/06/2024 13:34

I wanted to post this yesterday but I couldn’t find it. Hopefully it will spread some joy (depending on your sense of humour 😆)

One of my late DM’s friendship group
was moving away so they had a bit of a farewell party and asked a neighbour to take another of them all. When we got the photos back, this is what they were like. Made us laugh like drains every time we looked at them. I wonder what the self appointed critics around here would make of the composition ?

ISn't that the other way around? that CF people don't have bills and tax and stuff but they do have high flying well paid jobs that enable them to have exotic holidays and expensive cars?

HadMeABlast · 23/06/2024 13:36

Other people’s kids will be working to give me the quality of life and all sorts of useful services when I finally stop work.

Have my taxes. They pay for the future so that one day I can take my foot off the gas. Sensible innit?

Happy days.

I blame flaming Marie Kondo and her prissy 'does it spark joy?'

I love that smilesy

The composition, the handhold.

And they’ve not gone shy on the wool. 😍🐑

Even from that you can sense they're a nice bunch!

Yes. DM always kept it because it reminded her of her friend and the lovely day they had. And also because if it caught us at the right time we would be howling with laughter for ages 😂. That’s why I kept it too. Even though I’ve no idea who they all are 😂😂😂

That's if you can drag the youngsters from playing Xbox. Wasn't there an over 50s return to work scheme?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 23/06/2024 13:41

That pleated skirt....70s vibes right there. DM was...substantial of hip and stomach (3 kids and a hearty appetite will do that) and she'd buy skirts that were stitched over the stomach and flared into a pleat just under the hip bone. Probably the least flattering skirt type ever designed.

People report what they feel is offensive then it's up to Mumsnet to delete or not. Sometimes Mumsnet will automatically delete posts. You can't see who has reported and what they have complained about.

I forgot to ask about this and it’s left me even more puzzled. But you seem to understand that poster and hopefully they will come back and tell us more.

How would they know anyone was reporting if normal users can’t see the reports being made? I saw in another thread where someone said the same thing but even the “cunty”* posts haven’t been deleted so I find it really strange!

I like the learning method of “see one, do one, teach one”.

AllMyRowdyFriends · 23/06/2024 13:45

And before anyone complains I’m not telling anyone to “do one”. It’s a learning method!

No one has complained about the language used on this thread. On another thread that poster can get piled on for using bad language and then the post will be deleted. It depends on the mood of the thread. I am in the minority on here if I would say something offensive or use bad language my post will most likely be deleted.

If you need any real life advice be cautious they don't hold back.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 23/06/2024 13:51

MN is very relaxed about swearing so they won't automatically delete a post because it's reported for that. If it was 'you're a cunt' then that's a personal attack and can be reported as such (but IME personal attacks don't always get deleted). If it was 'because I'm not a cunt' then I suppose they regard that as not a direct personal attack and will let it stand.

The rules around what gets deleted and doesn't can be a bit arcane, frankly (see 'ageism,' throughout).

Yes. Ageism and, rather bizarrely, misogyny 🤷‍♀️

But… how would you know that no one has or hasn’t reported if nothing happened? And why would you complain on one thread about what happened in another?

I read some other threads but I don’t see that poster who brought this up anywhere on this board or anything deleted. So how do you know all this stuff? I’m sorry for so many questions but it’s making me feel weird!

Phone Scrolling GIF by Rex Orange County

Humour is also subjective with deletions I find.

It is the same as the joy thing. Some will find it funny. Some won’t. And some, who think that the internet is all about them, will take it as a personal slight and report them.

Some just hate gifs which is fine. But they do no harm. Even if someone doesn’t get it, why report things unless someone is being abusive? Scroll on by.

Some people are addicted to Mumsnet and they do use what you post previously against you. You can't make a new thread about another thread they do get deleted. When someone is offended they normally post I have reported you that's the only way you know that someone has reported you. It does feel like you're in an online playground. People can say what they want and no one knows what you look like.

Pedallleur · 23/06/2024 14:23

After all that the family turned out for the show. There was the VIP/VIP guest list reserved for Royalty/Showbiz Royalty/Taylor say yes and the family are on it. I'd rather there wasn't a Royal Family but until such time as the Public say enough then I'll let them have their fun. Don't worry, Govt and the Press won't call for an end to the RF. Daughter had a lovely time I'm not going to begrudge her that.
