Looks like William took George and Charlotte to see Taylor Swift for his birthday. Looks like Taylor was just as happy to meet them as they were to meet her.

The last thieving, demolishing and destroying I can recall was the Reformation, when Henry VIII plundered the wealth of the monasteries and promptly squandered it. So poster is talking shite.

A not unusual occurence on this board.

Was that when the monks were busy going round and round 🤔

AllMyRowdyFriends · 22/06/2024 22:06

Why are we talking about taxes on a happy thread about music? Isn’t there a tax thread somewhere? Or does no one want to talk about it so you have to nudge it in here? I sometimes have to be told a bit bluntly that no one wants to hear me talk about my hobbies. Do you maybe relate to that at all?

Reports done, back for another look.

Seems a theme on MN to be as disingenuous as possible when you disagree with an argument but can't really think of a response.
I'm not comparing RF to Kim Jong Un at all. I'm making the point that the royals are political figures as they're the family of the head of state and paid for through our taxes. If someone posted a pic of Kim Jong Un and his kids, people on MN wouldn't say it's not political, it's just a family at a concert etc.

But feel free to deliberately misunderstand.

BTW, my exercise is walking to work three times a week. 15 miles, not great but a start!

Oooh look, MN's favourite word - disingenuous.

That was actually the direct comparison you made. I'm sure there are plenty of other political figures and their families you could have used, but chose not to.

And I'm not misunderstanding anything, deliberately or otherwise.

You seem like an incredibly miserable person.

These children have had a shit year, whether they are royalty or not. The excitement on Charlottes face is just like any little girl her age.

I can assure you I am a very happy person- I just have a different view to you.

I asked a similar question above.

Why does every thread have to descend into boring circular arguments about taxes and how much 'we pay for them'? I'm not saying it's not a valid subject for discussion, but the shoehorning has got very boring.

Why don't those who want to have this discussion start a thread? It's easy to do.

Maybe they think you have to pay to start a thread on the internet. But you don’t, right?!

It's really unfair.

The royals get to start their own threads with our taxes!

And then they wheel out the kids for selfies of these threads, paid for by us!

AllMyRowdyFriends · 22/06/2024 22:10

No one who thinks about taxes this much is happy. I am sure about that!!

Nah. We all knew Relax was dodgy when Mike Read wouldn’t play it any more 😆

We have many officers employed just as royal protection officers.

That is as well as regular police. Not instead
of. The Met is suffering generally form a shortage of officers. This is not because some have them have decided to join Special Protection. So I can’t see how that is relevant to anything

eta. Special Protection spend a lot of time looking after politicians and other VIP’s. Not just the Royals

But if we weren't funding that family £345,000,000 a year there would be more money for more police officers....

Is that what you want to do with it? Gosh if you are out fighting in your street at night about Taylor Swift I doubt they will come anyway.

Do you have any idea how boring this is getting?

There wouldn't!! Same as the NHS never got all the millions promised after Brexit.

Maybe best to just ignore the 'we pay for them' blatant derailing?

The poster can start her own thread if she's so interested in pursuing the topic.

Yes but would your family have taken you to a concert of any of that at age 9? I suppose FgtH is a bit more in your face than Taylor tho. Smile

That’s not what you implied though was it? You seemed to be saying that some Met officers had run off to join Special Protection and left the rest of the force short of officers. The problem with recruiting police isn’t necessarily lack of money, it’s finding people that want to do the job. It’s a stressful profession with anti social hours. I don’t think more money is the answer to that problem

A teacher?! So angry about children going to a Taylor Swift concert with their parent. 🙀

No, and that's obvious if you've read my posts.
I do however think it's unfair that the children in my class with additional needs aren't getting the support they need and yet most people on MN think it's fine to prioritise paying one family £345,000,000 a year when they don't really do anything.

My family never took me to a concert.

Occasional dodgy lyrics apart, TS is actually pretty wholesome as to how she presents herself.

No, it's two things.
The money spent on the RF that could be better spent on other things. That's the main argument of course.
And yes of course, any offices spending any time protecting them (Andrew, Edward, queen's cousins etc etc ) does mean less officers on duty fighting crime.

GoodieMcTwoshoes · 22/06/2024 22:20

AllMyRowdyFriends · 22/06/2024 22:08

And this one of course!

This is an aside but I only realised a few months ago that that's what Pete Burns used to look like. I wasn't into that music but had seen the video at times over the years, but didn't realise it was the same bloke as the blonde plastic-surgery-ed bloke. RIP. Sad

Well rest assured the funding of the royal family is never going to be diverted into any classroom. To say "they don't really do anything" is not correct either.

Indeed. Slut-shaming successful writer, singer, producer and manager Taylor Swift for her (fairly tame in comparison to other artists)’s stage costumes? Slow handclap.
