Part 4 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports.

Apologies @Spectre8 . It was @TallerSally who said feminist.

So she used it to describe meghan thatsbjer opinion to then go pick one thing out her comment and start to try and divert it to a feminist debate is what I'm calling out. Taller Sally didn't do anything wrong

musthorse · 03/04/2024 20:29

@Spectre8 I didn't . Not me. I commented on the fact that not many parents can afford to stay at home as opposed to the typical MN stereotypes. You're barking up the wrong tree here.

Salemforcuddles · 03/04/2024 20:30

A number of celebrities support this hospital, Jamie Lee Curtis does a huge amount of work with them

skullbabe · 03/04/2024 20:49

Fantastic work by Jamie - lovely to see how she translated her work with the hospital into the My Hand in Yours sculptures and how she works with Make March Matter as well. Great to see so many people lending their names, faces and work to a good cause.

I didn't accuse you, I didn't name anyone I was providing examples. Chill out.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 03/04/2024 21:06

Love Jamie Lee Curtis's compassion, recently demonstrated in her appeal (before the cancer announcement) for people to stop pedaling conspiracy theories about Princess Catherine and leave her alone. Thank you, Lady Haden-Guest.

ArcaneWireless · 03/04/2024 21:07

Seconded.

musthorse · 03/04/2024 21:13

@Spectre8 of course you accused me. You quoted my post. Please don't tell me to chill out.

The discussion has been diverted into children's books too. By the same poster. Please stop criticising some posters for picking up on conversation points laid out by and also discussed by the very posters whom you are not willing to equally admonish.

Yes the books that meghan was reading on her outing. So it's on topic. Meghan out and about...she was visiting a hospital and reading xxxx book and these books are good cos x y z....see how it is on topic.

Talking about some random music or starting to say she isn't a feminist or hownshe doesnt esrn money blah blah has nothing to do with her current hospital trip being discussed

The one who doesn’t earn any money in an actual job.

Good lord, what a narrow minded view of feminism. Quite shocking for a website like Mumsnet where plenty are stay-at-home parents... Wow.

@Spectre8

musthorse · 03/04/2024 21:24

See at 14.39 for the first mention of feminist . As Shaggy said " it wasn't me" 😂

Spectre8 · 03/04/2024 21:25

I wasn't calling anyone out specifically when I first commented about the derailing. I wanted anyone trying to do so to stop.

Let's get this thread back on track, I'm sure everyone agrees with that

Mylovelygreendress · 03/04/2024 21:26

Is it still usual to wear face masks in American hospitals? Genuine question .

Yes, required in my experience.

These are also very sick children so probably always will be required for visitors going forward.

Salemforcuddles · 03/04/2024 21:27

Perhaps some of the kids are very vulnerable to infection

Mylovelygreendress · 03/04/2024 21:28

Thanks. I didn’t realise .

Salemforcuddles · 03/04/2024 21:29

Mentioning music wasn't an effort to derail . Perhaps it's best to stop derailing the thread by going on and on about er derailing

AliceOlive · 03/04/2024 21:30

Also, it burns my onion that Kim Kardashian alone is worth 1.7bn and it takes 8 years to get 10m for this particular fundraiser? In LA? Come on.

ArcaneWireless · 03/04/2024 21:30

I don’t think it is that unusual in a healthcare setting to still see masks.

Just another item in the armamentarium to combat disease.

Salemforcuddles · 03/04/2024 21:31

She could sell a couple of Birkins, the new one cost her over $100,000

She’d be better off just asking Doris.

She usually looks fabulous. ✅
