The royal family

Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?

(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

There is data protection on everyone in the UK so that only health care professionals who look.after you have access to your medical records. Regardless of what is wrong with the POW she is entitled to privacy and given the panting lust for information about her no sodding wonder she doesn't want to come out and be forensically analysed. ( which to me is fed by the scandal hungry media because one of their main paper and magazine selling personalities isn't around) If she has 6 days 6 weeks or 6 months it is nobodys business. If she didn't have mental health issues beforehand she definitely will now. I'm not even a rf fan.

Clearly plenty do care! It is a matter of some amusement to me that many of the same Sussex squad/Celebitchy obsessives who have spent the past four years insisting that Meghan was the real star of the RF and Kate would never be missed - are now demanding to know - with increasing hysteria - where Kate is

Who are you saying on here is part of the Twitter Sussex squad lunatics?

TitusGroaned · 03/03/2024 17:06

I don’t think anyone has said that? I thought we were calling out the craziness on Twitter? Mumsnet, thankfully, is moderated 😄

Not a Royalist at all - how strange to make up leanings for people you don’t know in the slightest.

I also asked a question…

underthebun · 03/03/2024 17:09

The whole Sussex Squad thing confused me

underthebun · 03/03/2024 17:10

I don’t follow either on Twitter

The threads are far more interesting (and often hilarious) than the RF is.

The stuff on other sites is apparently 🤯 - it’s getting reported about in the mainstream media, as in how unhinged it’s becoming. It makes the lizard people theory look quite tame 😂

People can call her whatever they want - the press still call her Kate Middleton a lot of the time 🤷🏻‍♀️

People are intrigued by the current situation as it is so out of step with normal royal protocol - even KC3 who is an elderly man suffering from cancer released a statement thanking his well wishers, yet not a peep from KM. This coupled with the other odd things - a middle of the night ambulance seen leaving Sandringham on Dec 28th, William’s strange behaviour in public and the absence of any direct statement from KM etc. has left people wondering what is going on. As is their right - we don’t have a choice but to pay for the royal family, their
cooperation with engaging with the public is part of the invisible contract, which itself relies heavily on the good will of the public, as one journalist wrote about MM ‘we pay you pose’. A sentiment that should apply to
all members of the royal family..

The tabloids must have been all over that ambulance leaving Sandringham, got a link?

What strange behaviour?

Well - I can look Eastenders in the face now.

My view on the timeline
December 25, 2023: the last time Kate Middleton was seen in public during the royal family’s annual Christmas walk to church in Sandringham

December 28, 2023: Kate Middleton is reportedly admitted to hospital

January 17, 2024: Kensington palace announces that Kate Middleton has undergone a “planned abdominal surgery” and that she will remain in hospital for “10 to 14 days before returning home to continue her recovery”

although the official statement says that the surgery was planned, it also goes on to say that she has had to “postpone her upcoming engagements” which is odd because if the surgery was planned, why would she have engagements scheduled during the recovery period?

the statement also says that she will not be undertaking public duties until after easter, which is march 31, which is just over 10 weeks after the surgery took place

also on January 17, 2024: Buckingham palace announces that King Charles as sought treatment for an enlarged prostate and he will be going to the hospital a week later for a “corrective procedure”

now it is WILD that these were announced on the same day, merely hours apart. it’s also noteworthy that while Kate’s surgery was announced after the fact, Charles’ procedure was announced a week in advance.

January 18, 2024: one day after Kate’s surgery was announced, Prince William is seen visiting her in hospital

January 18: people magazine states that “William has shifted his schedule to support his wife” and “is expected to postpone engagements to be by Kate’s side and support their family.” they have three children: George (10), Charlotte (8), and Louis (5)

January 21: Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and ex-wife of Prince Andrew (yes that one) is diagnosed with skin cancer after being treated for breast cancer in June 2023

January 26: King Charles undergoes his procedure for an enlarged prostate in the same facility where Kate Middleton is recovering. people magazine states that “King Charles also paid a visit to the Princess of Wales in the same hospital ahead of his own surgery”

January 27: Camilla, Charles’ wife, visits him in hospital three times within 24 hours

January 29: Kensington palace announces that Kate has “returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery” and that she is “making good progress”. there are no photos of her leaving the hospital.

February 5: Buckingham Palace announces that king Charles has been diagnosed with cancer and has “commenced a schedule of regular treatments” but says that he will still be undertaking “state business and official paperwork”

interesting to note is that this statements concludes with saying that Charles chose to share his diagnosis “to prevent speculation”, which almost seems like a shot at the Wales’ secrecy surrounding Kate’s health and the increasing rumours

William undertakes his first official engagement since Kate’s release from hospital

February 7: prince harry flies from California to the UK to see his father after his cancer diagnosis announcement

February 8: prince harry leaves the UK after 24 hours to fly home to California after a 45-minute visit with his father

February 18: prince William attends the bafta awards

February 21: Kate’s sister, Pippa, is seen in St Bart’s with her husband and children, however the photos are not dated.

February 23: BP releases a video of the king reading get-well cards that were sent to him. it has now been 60 days since Kate Middleton was seen in public or photographed.

February 25: Thomas Kingston, husband of lady Gabriella Windsor (daughter of Prince Michael of Kent, a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth) is found dead at age 45. police have said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his sudden death.

Kingston ran in the same circles as the royals and was even rumoured to have dated Pippa Middleton in 2011, around the time of William and Kate’s wedding.

February 27: prince William pulls out of attending the funeral of the late King Constantine of Greece, his godfather, due to a “personal matter.” William was scheduled on the order of service to do a reading

the “royal source” who broke the news also said that Kate Middleton “continues to be doing well”, despite her not being seen or photographed in 64 days at this point

now at this point the general public has caught on to the fact that Kate’s absence continues to be glaringly obvious. with her and king Charles out of commission, and William largely MIA, royal duties have fallen to other members of the royal family

this is a problem bc a lot of those members are older. Camilla (76), Princess Anne (73), prince Edward (59) and duchess Sophie (59) are undertaking the bulk of duties atm. since the queen’s death and Harry and Meghan’s retreat, the family has lost a lot of its brand’s star power

many have also pointed out that the British press seems to have left Kate alone and not pressed for more info, while Meghan was essentially left out to dry by the institution and was subject to abuse by the media while pregnant with archie and suffered a miscarriage in 2020

February 29 in response to rapid speculation on social media, a KP rep tells page six that she’s “doing well” but that they won’t be providing updates on her condition. it has now been 66 days since Kate was seen in public

although the official statement says that the surgery was planned, it also goes on to say that she has had to “postpone her upcoming engagements” which is odd because if the surgery was planned, why would she have engagements scheduled during the recovery period?

Probably because their diaries are made up over a year in advance? Unless she had a crystal ball or second sight, she wouldn't have known she'd need surgery.

GoodnightAdeline · 03/03/2024 17:28

Of course she has a right to privacy which is being exercised, but as a royal (and probably the most interesting one) it’s utterly naive to wonder why people are speculating. I can’t think what it would be - appendix, hysterectomy, all the obvious ones don’t have anything like a 3 month recovery time. I do feel a statement clarifying things in a sensitive way would probably be wise.

onetwothreeee · 03/03/2024 17:29

I assume she is at home recovering from her hospital stay in January.

For the record a severe HG pregnancy nearly killed me, (quite literally)

I had to terminate or else I might have died, leaving my 2 children behind.
(My 2 previous HG pregnancys, while horrendous, did not leave me at real risk of death, and being in hospital could keep me alive)

I then had an awful lot of complications discovered as a direct result of my pregnancy and scans, and HG. (Complications being gyneachological AND other stuff, which can only be treated in a very few select NHS hospitals in the UK)

I had 5 hospital admissions, 4 emergancy, 3 of which id have died within 48 hours if i hadnt been (re)admited. (If I was royal i doubt i would have been discharged to have to to go back in a few days later, close to death, again)
Then I had less urgent surgary a few months later for the "other" issue (which I wouldnt have waited for if I was royal)

In total i spent 17 days in hospital (12 nights) 2 surgerys, one of which would be described as "planned major abdominal surgery" (done urgently within a few days, having almost had emergancy surgery during emergancy hospital admission 4) and was out of action for 4 months.
(Then another day surgary and a week off a few months later for the next "issue")

I would guess there is a chance that the poor Kate is going through something similar to me, and her health issues are none of our buisness, and I hope she recovers soon, and does not return to any royal duties until SHE feels ready.

MyAgileAmberGoose · 03/03/2024 17:31

Nohousemove · 02/03/2024 22:31

Perhaps she is thinking fuck it and having some time off and watching day time TV, maybe she is meeting aliens who are about to invade or perhaps she is recovering from surgery and getting ready for the intense media scrutiny on her return.

All of this!

This is brilliant. It’s none of our business but I will also join in and speculate 😆

Oddly, embarrassingly, that's how I caught sycophantilis (at least that's what I call it) as well - there was nothing more boring and outdated than the royals but the ILBW has proved a real boon for the lot of them, sadly including Andrew, just differently than they might have hoped.

It's been clarified. She had abdominal surgery, she's doing well, she'll be back after Easter. What more do people need to know?
I don't think they should overshare just because of some idiots on social media and conspiracy theorists.

SoupDragon · 03/03/2024 17:45

I think that "planned" surgery simply means "not emergency".

AutumnCrow · 03/03/2024 17:54

Romeiswheretheheartis · 03/03/2024 08:46

Easters going to be a nightmare isn't it. If she doesn't appear literally after midnight after Easter Sunday people are going to implode.

I believe she will rise again in the year 2698, when the Western and Orthodox Easter Sundays co-incide for the next and final time. Diana will sit at her right hand and they will glow with the redeeming light of a thousand blood moons.

Sainty Katie.
