Sickening and dehumanising and mocking small child.

This man is a member of the royal rota, invited to cover royal engagements.

I hope H&M stay away from the coronation.

Such an immature and hateful thing, to make fun of a child. They keep showing themselves up for who they are.

marshmallowhearts · 25/03/2023 13:13

What? Did we watch the same clip? He was clearly making a sarky joke and immediately followed it up that obviously it isn’t going to happen. How is that “dehumanising”?!

ChiefPearlClutcher · 25/03/2023 13:16

Come on 🙄 do try harder

OK. Would you say exactly the same thing if the word 'Louis' was substituted for 'Archie'?

Would there be a 'sarky joke' like this about Louis in the first place?

Answer to both those is 'no'.

Viviennemary · 25/03/2023 13:31

Gloves are off I would say. I hope they stay away. But they probably won't.

Train007 · 25/03/2023 13:31

Sorry absolutely wrong on so many levels and I'm definitely not precious about stuff generally!

toomuchlaundry · 25/03/2023 13:31

@michaelmacrae who are showing themselves up for who they are?

The guy making the sarky "joke" didn't say "obviously that's not going to happen".
It was the guy sat next to him who said that.

Then the female interviewer said let's not go there.

Nothing sarky about this. When you start to joke about innocent children being put into situations that endanger their lives ie dangling them off a balcony, it leads the dehumanisation.

Eamonn Holmes made a similar joke about pushing Harry and Meghan over the balcony during the Jubilee.

It's the same reason Jeremy Clarkson felt comfortable enough to write about stripping Meghan naked and throwing excrement at here. When abuse and mockery is accepted people push boundaries.

There are some pretty disgusting people around, mocking a child is low very low but those that mock are just showing how dreadful they are.

I actually would say the same if it was said about Louis - I'd have said it's just a shit joke either way.

I do agree it probably wouldn't have been said about Louis though.

@michaelmacrae who are showing themselves up for who they are?

The Royal Reporter who has just written Charles's biography. "Our King, the Man and the Monarch"

that is who I think is showing himself up. Michaelmacrae might think differently!

2bazookas · 25/03/2023 13:48

Youngsters, you do know that a very famous self-publicist dangled his baby off a balcony , as a publicity stunt for world coverage?

It's referenced in the clip by the guy making the comment.

Yes, and it's still a sick joke to make about a child.

Yes and MJ was absolutely annihilated for doing what he did. Understandably so.

To me... in the clip... they were just taking the piss out of Archie, his birthday, him being possibly on the balcony. Very bad taste. And mean. Why should a little boy be subjected to what his parents are subjected to?

tatalan · 25/03/2023 14:18

Yes, the entire thing was quite ugly and mocking. They would never speak about another royal child in that way.

OP posts:
Spectre8 · 25/03/2023 14:20

This would never be allowed for w&k children. These peolle aren't conedians at some gig where you would expect some comedians to push the line. These are reporters or what not, totally uncalled for and really disgusting.

tatalan · 25/03/2023 14:20

There such an ugly pattern of violence in the way Harry, Meghan and kids are spoken about.

Terrible. And just as bad to see some people defending it as only a joke.
I really hope Harry and Meghan stay away. If this is the kind of joke that many see as acceptable about their child, god knows what violent things people will say if they do come to the Coronation.

AskAwayAgain · 25/03/2023 14:31

And the reporter would be sacked if he had said this about George.

themessygarden · 25/03/2023 15:31

That is tasteless, unnecessary and out of order, nothing funny about it at all.

VixenTodd · 25/03/2023 15:40

It was never said seriously. He was probably comparing Meghan's surgery face and voice to MJs. It is making fun of the parents not the kids.

AskAwayAgain · 25/03/2023 15:43

Threatening harm to a child may be a joke, that does not make it okay. Yes I believe you the joke was made because of who his parents are.

What do you mean?

He said King Charles should hold Archoe over the balcony.

How does this compare to Meghan?
