Royal Reporter Jokes that Archie should be dangled off the Balcony

Sickening and dehumanising and mocking small child.

This man is a member of the royal rota, invited to cover royal engagements.

I hope H&M stay away from the coronation.

Okay I have got the memo. It is fine to make violent jokes against a child if you do not like their parents.

Am I missing something; how is it violent?

mixedrecycling · 26/03/2023 00:17

Referencing MJ dangling his child over a balcony = wanting Archie to be dangled over a balcony and be dropped = wanting a child to die.

Of course! It's obvious!

4plusthehound · 26/03/2023 02:07

In all balcony appearances over the years has there ever been a suggestion that they dangle a child over the balcony?

for me the joke here is not about violence to a child. The joke is black people /children /balconies

it is offensive.

EddieSteady · 26/03/2023 03:40

I must be missing something. They were joking about making it all about Archie as it's his birthday and he said "maybe the MH thing where they hold him over the balcony".

The MJ thing was when fans were yelling at him to show them the baby and he held the baby over the balcony to show them. Which was stupid and dangerous and he got slated for it.

But I understand the reference and that's how it came across to me. Suggesting Archie be shown off over the balcony. Silly joke but that's about it. Not sure how anyone's reading violence, threats or racism into it

Roussette · 26/03/2023 07:10

I understand how it came about too. But to be honest, when talking about the royal balcony, my first thought is not MJ. Hmm

It would never ever happen as a joke about Louis for instance. Jobson would literally be sacked as an RR. But it's par for the course continually with H&M.

For me it was the 4 of them (including Arthur Edwards, best pal of Camilla) sat round cackling and laughing about Archie, his birthday, cake and dangling over the balcony.. Not just the balcony bit, all of it. Not violence (although I can understand how that would be thought of). 4 adults cackling with jokes about a little boy. That's it for me. Horrible.

Why don't they move on to Louis and take the piss and have a good old laugh about him too? After all, fair's fair.

They never would. If they did, this board would be outraged by it. I cannot believe the mental gymnastics being done to justify this revolting conversation about a child. Shameful. I’m so glad they left this toxicity.

Well if they are as close to the senior royals as you say, they must know a lot more about what's going on behind the scenes. The media has reported that Harry and Meghan have been making various demands for apologies, balcony appearances, a special role for the children etc etc... Perhaps all of that is true, if it is the joke might make more sense.

pilates · 26/03/2023 08:20

@Roussette I am saying this in a nice way but you really nearly to calm down.

It was an inappropriate comment but to then go on and say

“Why don't they move on to Louis and take the piss and have a good old laugh about him too?”

is unpleasant too. Two wrongs don’t make a right. It isn’t nice to take the piss out of any child.

So you think it's OK? It's absolutely OK to laugh and joke at a little boy's expense. Rightio

It's the DM who has reported about balcony demands, made up clickbait?

I am perfectly calm you know. I am expressing an opinion on a forum, that is all. That is what forums are for and just because I have an opinion that I type out, does not mean I 'need to calm down' ! (Quite funny or should I say odd that you say that!)

However, thank you, you agree it isn't nice what they were doing about Archie.

Howsimplywonderful · 26/03/2023 08:36

So your solution ‘why don’t they move onto Louis’

That is very hypocritical even for you

Coxspurplepippin · 26/03/2023 08:37

Oh, don't worry, here's been plenty in the tabloids talking about 'mischievous' Louis couched in such a way as to open up the field for comments claiming he has autism, is badly behaved, badly raised, needs a smack, hates his mother, is obviously violent etc etc.

Of course it is not my solution. If you have read my posts on this thread you will see that I have called out this behaviour vehemently.

I am talking about ... if it were Louis, the man would be sacked, and there would be a huge outcry. (as you will see in my previous posts I say it would be a different story if it were Louis)

ANY disgusting comments like this about any children should be called out. End of.

I was making a comparison as you well know.

I have a solution. Stop demonising a little boy and making jokes about him.

Hope that clears it up for you

Absolutely awful

notanotheroneagain · 26/03/2023 08:46

This was no 'joke'. It was cruelty. Plain and simple.

Jobson has written about Charles and has access to him and the RF. You can be sure that he would never dare make such a comment if he thought there would be consequences.

No child has ever been dangled on the balcony, so the 'joke' makes no sense at all. The only link with MJ as another poster has pointed out is that MJ is black and American. A Freudian racist and xenophobic slip, if anything.

I do wonder what karma has in store for him though. Because the last person who wanted H&M to be thrown off the balcony fell down some stairs himself and dislocated a shoulder and was badly bruised using crutches. Ouch.

Howsimplywonderful · 26/03/2023 08:55

@Coxspurplepippin

I remember Omid Scobie had to delete a tweet he made about Louis at the Jubilee

Whaeanui · 26/03/2023 09:09

that’s the gross part isn’t it. These people are friends with Camilla especially- her son works at the daily Mail for gods sake. They have a former daily mail editor in a senior staff position. Clarkson’s article too, he knew it wouldn’t bother them. That all speaks volumes to me.

Serenster · 26/03/2023 09:24

Omid Scobie tweeted this during last year’s jubilee, and his followers instantly responded with a slew of comments about what a bad mother Kate was, how Louis had learning disabilities, ADHD and/or ASD, how he was clearly acting out what he’d seen his father do to his mother etc etc etc. Omid still has a job however. So I think you’re being fairly overdramatic. (I also must have missed the outcry here).

Roussette · 26/03/2023 09:26

Jobson has written a biography about Charles which he advertised prolifically on his Twitter page.

What a shame (not) he has had to now delete his Twitter account.

This sort of thing is not new for him. He has retweeted very unpleasant stuff about Meghan in the past. And then had to delete it because the Evening Standard received a lot of complaints.

As I have said before on this thread, no little child should be subjected to this. And last I heard Scobie isn't a RR with a direct line to Charles.

No little child should be subjected to this sort of thing. And that includes Archie.

googlejourney · 26/03/2023 09:39

It was a joke. Omg people are so easily offended it's really silly.
Harry has made himself a laughing stock all on his own, granted not everyone has the same sense of humour, but he's lost respect and now will always be a buffoon.
H & M take themselves far too seriously anyway.

But I agree with you OP, they should stay away from the coronation.

Howsimplywonderful · 26/03/2023 09:39

themessygarden · 26/03/2023 09:45

"No little child should be subjected to this sort of thing".

"Why don't they move on to Louis and take the piss and have a good old laugh about him too? After all, fair's fair."

Ah, but an eye for an eye is okay if it comes to defending M&H's offspring.

notanotheroneagain · 26/03/2023 09:47

That Scobie tweet is nowhere near endangering Louis' life.

Saying 'kids will be kids' while showing a cheeky chappy. Oh please.
Never saw the responses you are sharing, but he may not have been best pleased, and removed it. But not his fault if people parachuted in with all sorts. SM punters say all sort of things.

What the thread is criticising here, is an RR (in mainstream media, no less)having the audacity to be so blatantly vulgar about Archie.

Whaeanui · 26/03/2023 09:47

Why don't they move on to Louis

This wasn’t a serious suggestion, but you know that. It’s pounding out the hypocrisy and look at how you all reacted. Nobody would say this about Louis, that’s the point.
