I thought Sasha came across well in the Piers Morgan interview. She's clearly not willing to embellish her account or go on the attack against Harry. She seems unhappy and resigned, and a bit uncomfortable talking about it rather than enjoying the drama. It feels like she's walking a fine line between getting her own POV across, not wanting to look like she's criticising Harry, but also wanting people to know it should have stayed as a private matter.
Some context for anyone interested. This pub shag incident happened shortly before Harry's 17th birthday (which falls in September), so Summer 2001. The following Spring (March 2002), Harry was in Cloisters skiing when his great gran (The Queen Mother) died - a pretty big event he's completely mis- remembered or lied about in his book. One of the press events at the start of that Cloisters holiday was a pre-arranged photo call, which the RF would agree to so that the press would leave them alone for the rest of the holiday. Press reporting at the time of this photo call referred to a recent drug scandal involving Harry, the first time he had been photographed formally since that story broke. The press pack flew back to the UK after that photo call, just as the QM's death was announced. That Harry, on this holiday, both experienced this humiliating photo shoot with the press he hated after being exposed by a tabloid doing drugs, and the QM's death (resulting in an unprecedented joint flight home with the two other heirs to the throne, his dad and brother), makes his claim that he was at Eton when she died even more patently absurd.
The drug scandal in question had broken around January 2002. Harry had been "exposed" by a tabloid for taking drugs when he was aged 16, and Charles had sent him to visit a drug therapy group in South London.
This CNN article dated 1 March 2002 (below) reports on the matter, and implied that drug sessions took place at the other pub that was named as the possible shag venue, the Rattlebone Inn. The Guardian article copied below gives further details about Harry being home alone at Highgrove at various times during Summer 2001, getting involved with a "bad lot" in the Rattlebone, and getting barred for fighting.
Wiltshire police at the time said there was no evidence against Harry to press charges for under age drinking. In the light of both Harry's and Sasha's accounts they didn't try very hard to investigate!
Nobody's asked Sasha this, but I wonder if it was more than just shots being consumed that Summer evening in 2001? Different pub, but possibly the same crowd? As so much tabloid attention was on Harry and his activities in Wiltshire that summer of 2001, it's really not hard to see how the tabloid press in 2023 had all they needed in their archives to narrow down Harry's mystery older woman.
