The royal family

Weren't Harry and Meghan briefing too?

One thing that struck me in the Netflix series was the "Sandringham summit". Harry said that there was a story about how he was bullied by Prince William/Charles, and Buckingham Palace responded by putting out a statement saying that was nonsense. In the Netflix series, Harry said that Meghan burst into tears because the Palace was basically lying. But... Who briefed the original story? It obviously wasn't Buckingham Palace because why would they want that story out there? And it does seem to be suspiciously well-aligned with the Harry/Meghan version of events. So is it ok for their people to brief out stories, but unacceptable for the Palace to put out statements? And does it ever occur to them that their point of view might not be the only one?

It's clear that the two of them were always perfect and everyone else was the problem. However, recollections may also vary.

Forthelast · 03/01/2023 21:34

Yes. And they also briefed the world with that book they contributed to while saying they didn't. They were very cross when that was exposed and felt betrayed that anyone would mention their role.

And while her dad selling pictures before her wedding was bad, it doesn't seem that bad anymore... It seems exactly what they are doing.

CocoLux · 03/01/2023 21:35

There's a lot of hypocrisy in their complaints. It's fine for them to talk publicly about their family problems, and brief the media, but if Thomas Markle or Buck Palace do it it's toxic and hurtful and dangerous. Apparently.

There was also Harry’s solicitor leaking the results of court documents in his security case

spot on

Sir Humphrey and Bernard would be proud of that one

Porcinimushroom · 03/01/2023 21:52

No they are total victims don’t you know. None of this, not one bit is their responsibility.

PicturesOfDogs · 03/01/2023 21:53

I read a theory within the last couple of days actually, regarding Harry’s claim that it must have been KCs team that leaked he was willing to rebuke his titles.
Harry had said that only KC knew this, but the theory was that it wasn’t in KCs interests to leak that info.
We also have Dan Wooton emphatically claiming he already had that story and it didn’t come from KC.
So whose benefit would it have been to leak it? Well, the theory went that the call came from inside the house.

Just a theory, and complete speculation, but interesting way of looking at it none the less.

AuroraCake · 03/01/2023 22:02

Course they did. It’s all nonsense.

LivelyBlake · 03/01/2023 22:04

They mostly briefed through Omid, no? I thought this was common knowledge.

They say they didn’t. While condemning the family for it.

what does that even mean?

I have always thought they leaked it themselves to force the hand of royals to do something.

Either they leaked it themselves, or one of them did unbeknownst to the other.

Ah ok, so their house? I get it.

I suspect a lot more people knew about it than is being said, all it takes is one of them to tell a friend. Who tells a friend and so on/

the leak didn’t benefit Charles , neither did leaking where they lived. So whomever leaked I doubt it was Charles.

That was the gist of it, it benefited no one in KC/RF camp to leak it, so it didn’t make sense.
And if it doesn’t make sense, then it probably isn’t true sort of thing

Shocking article on the front page of the Mail right now:

*Extraordinarily, since the Princess's death, I have been told by a well-placed source in our foreign intelligence service, MI6, that this is not far from the truth of what really happened.

The astonishing claim is that a 'Paris operation' was organised to frighten the Princess into halting her romance because her lover was considered by the British Establishment to be an unsuitable companion for the mother of a future King.

'We planned to break her arm or cause a minor injury,' said my MI6 informant, now retired and living in Europe. 'No one in the security services overseeing this operation wanted Diana to be killed. Dodi? Well, he was another matter.'*

theworldhas · 03/01/2023 22:39

Will be interesting to read the book, but I suspect where Harry finds himself today can be traced right back to Diana and Dodi’s relationship, and Diana predicting threats to her life.

So Harry’s book is insinuating the RF had his mother killed by the looks of it?
