Princess Kate wore £176,664 worth of clothing for 138 engagements in 2022.

How do you feel about this?

Kate's most expensive fashion year yet! Princess of Wales wore a record £176,664 worth of new clothes in 2022

How do you feel about it ? There is another P&P of Wales thread running you could have added this info there.

MrsMitford3 · 31/12/2022 15:35

Didn't you just post something similar earlier?
How do YOU feel about it?

Not sure what you want from these threads-the exact same ppl come on for and against every time.

You post a goady opening and look forward to the bun fight?

tatalan · 31/12/2022 15:36

I think it's terrible, others seem not to mind. It's always good to hear perspectives different from your own.

Terrible, especially when people can't afford to eat and heat.

What do you think?

It’s appalling. She’d look great in anything and could champion real unknown talent which could cost a fraction of this.

BlueKaftan · 31/12/2022 15:38

I’m not a Kate fan but her clothes are paid for by KC?

I always heard Meghan was spending tax payers money so I assumed the same for Kate.

1200 quid an outfit on average. Royals gonna Royal. Princesses don't wear Primark. It's always been like that.

DriftwoodOnTheShore · 31/12/2022 15:41

I think it's none of your business who buys anyone else's clothes.

If you want to have a go at where the poor should be getting money from have a look at non-doms and tory peers. Rees-Mogg could pay her wardrobe bill without noticing.

GCSquirrel · 31/12/2022 15:41

Does she actually have to pay for her clothing? I assumed most of her clothes would have been given to her by designers.

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 31/12/2022 15:43

Charlie pays for their personal expenses from his own pocket.

If I had his kind of money my clothes would probably cost that much too.

A quick Google would have answered your question op.

Holly60 · 31/12/2022 15:45

I feel like it's part of her job. I think she does a great job so I've no problem with it.

CocoLux · 31/12/2022 15:45

It's awful, especially at the moment when so many are struggling. She could champion high street fashion (wearing the odd bit from Zara with priceless jewels doesn't count!) and unknown British designers if she wanted to.

BethJ62 · 31/12/2022 15:49

£177,000 for a year doesn’t seem bad when you consider that Meghan’s engagement dress alone cost about £80, 000!

urbanbuddha · 31/12/2022 15:56

It averages out at under £1300 per outfit. It’s part of her role to look well-presented and appropriately dressed for whatever the occasion is. The events she attends are also attended by people who expect the Princess of Wales to be well turned out so that figure seems okay.

Btw she’s not “Princess Kate”. She’s Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, or the Princess of Wales. She’s “Kate” in the press as a hangover from her single days.

Plenty of backlash and rightfully so! one of the times I didn't feel sorry for her, extremely tone deaf and foolish.

Royals cannot accept freebies, so all their clothing, along with everything else, is paid for.

TodayInahurry · 31/12/2022 15:58

I really don’t care, I would not want her job. The Duchess of California wears very expensive designer stuff, their lives their choice.

The old heat or eat, really the roads are full of cars, the shops are full of shoppers.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 31/12/2022 15:59

Charlie pays for their personal expenses from his own pocket

Surely not any more?
Now Charles has "moved up" to the Duchy of Lancaster income the Duchy of Cornwall money goes to William, so I doubt W&K need his handouts any more

Fireandflight · 31/12/2022 16:01

Part of her job is to look good and that takes money.

So then.....? They pay for their own clobber? What's the issue here?

She obviously didn’t listen when she wore a Maternity kaftan costing more than £100,000

NeedAHoliday2021 · 31/12/2022 16:02

I don’t see the point of millionaires dressing in George at Asda just to make us feel less poor.

LaurieFairyCake · 31/12/2022 16:02

I'm not paying for this in any way so I don't care 🤷‍♀️

In fact I want all the really wealthy people to put their money into the economy and buy shit
