Princess Kate wore £176,664 worth of clothing for 138 engagements in 2022.

How do you feel about this?

Kate's most expensive fashion year yet! Princess of Wales wore a record £176,664 worth of new clothes in 2022

Well... as Meghan was referred to as 'Markle' (without her first name) on another thread more than once and when someone questioned this and asked if it was OK to call Kate/Catherine 'Middleton' that appeared to be a question they didn't want to answer.

And, as I answered you on the other thread, MM is now a CELEBRITY, it's the life she has chosen for herself and therefore now shouldn't be an issue for her to be addressed as such same as Clarkson, Morgan, Winfrey, Clooney, Markle. As with any celebrity as long as she is being talked about I expect she doesn't give two hoots whether it's by her first name or last name.

She is still married to a member of the RF. I presume 'Middleton' is OK too then, as she is married to one too.

Welcome to my thread, what do you think about Kate's spending?

Ok, OP, I don’t think anything of her spending her own money on clothes. Same with the Duchess of Sussex. Did you have a problem with the Queen spending money on clothes? Or any other member of the RF? Diana?

SenecaFallsRedux · 31/12/2022 16:43

I don't see anything wrong with informally calling the Princess of Wales Princess Kate or Princess Catherine. When they were married, William even expressed a wish that she would be known as Princess Catherine, when at that time she was either Princess William or Duchess of Cambridge.

It's no different from referring to Diana as Princess Diana, which technically she never was.

DomesticShortHair · 31/12/2022 16:43

To make it a bit easier for her, could you perhaps post some links of clothes that meet your approval? Something form Primark, or H&M, perhaps? That way, when she reads this thread, she’ll know what’s acceptable. Otherwise, she might continue to make decisions for herself and what she wants to wear, as a grown woman.

The Queen worked extremely hard, so no. I'm very impressed by Anne too.

Like I said, you are a Duchess of Sussex fan so you for some bizarre reason, you only pick on the Princess of Wales and nothing anyone says can dissuade you! Enjoy 😉

Terrible, especially when people can't afford to eat and heat.

What do you think?

I think rishi sunik our prime minister has a wife who is richer and there are little to none threads talking about their spending habits being "terrible" because people can't afford to heat and eat and unlike the princess of wales HE can do something about that

The Queen of Spain wears Mango dresses. I know that Kate sometimes wears Jigsaw, etc but I do think that there could be more nice high street brands worn which would cost a lot less than the designer stuff she normally wears.

Part of her job is to look good and that takes money.

@tatalan Don't let it get in the way of generating revenue for your idols. Run along now PR girl!

Yesthatismychildsigh · 31/12/2022 16:55

No such person as ‘princess Kate’.

milveycrohn · 31/12/2022 16:55

"Does she actually have to pay for her clothing? I assumed most of her clothes would have been given to her by designers."
The RF are not allowed to accept these kinds of gifts

As I said a reference by surname is a more commonplace address now she is a 'celeb', 2 years ago when her job role was different I would probably have taken a different view. I'm always surprised when people are so easily offended about things that the couple themselves probably don't even care about.

Letitrainletitrainletitrain · 31/12/2022 16:57

Workington Conservative MP Mark Jenkinson claimed £249,881.63 in expenses in 2020-21 financial year and Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron claimed £249,444.28.

That's actual taxpayer money. £500k for 2 MPs. There are 650 MPs in the house of commons.

How about we start complaining about that instead of what some rich woman spends her own money on?

Of course it's always easier to pick at women isn't it.

imalreadygone · 31/12/2022 17:01

If they can afford it then it's great they are supporting the fashion industry. I imagine lots of people are cutting back so it's good to keep them in business.

Rockingcloggs · 31/12/2022 17:06

I could not give less of a shit if I tried. Do the 'people can't afford to eat and heat' brigade really believe if the Princess of Wales decides to start wearing Pep & Co that they'll miraculously have more money in their back sky rocket? No. They'll still struggle to eat and heat. It has no bearing on any of us. It's not disrespectful, it's not rubbing it in our faces, it's not failing to read the room. It's a rich woman wearing nice expensive clothes, just like they have done since god was a lad. I can afford nicer clothes than some, will I stop buying them to make others feel less skint? No I won't. I have no more interest in how much the POW spends than I have on how much Jan next door spends on her clothes.

£749.04p was the total deductions from my wages this month and if some of that went on her flash clothes then so what? They're still gonna deduct the same next month whether it clothes her or not.
