Princess Kate wore £176,664 worth of clothing for 138 engagements in 2022.

How do you feel about this?

Kate's most expensive fashion year yet! Princess of Wales wore a record £176,664 worth of new clothes in 2022

Terrible, especially when people can't afford to eat and heat.

So you feel that way about anyone rich who spends their money?

No, just tax payer funded folks.

Because he actually is a Prince, by right of birth. Katherine isn’t and by calling her ‘Princess Kate’ it’s obvious that it’s meant to bring her down a peg or two

How would you like her referred to on a forum?

FancyFanny · 31/12/2022 16:25

Don’t see how buying her clothes in Zara or From unknown designers will benefit anyone

pinkfondu · 31/12/2022 16:25

Sounds about right to me and probably less than I would have guessed

GracieLouFreeebush · 31/12/2022 16:20

How is it different to people saying Prince Charles for years? I think I heard that more than I heard people say the Prince of Wales

Because Prince Charles was a Prince before he was made Prince of Wales.

blacksax · 31/12/2022 16:25

I couldn't give a shiny shit.

She is representing the Crown on official engagements. They have a large (and properly taxed) income from the commercial enterprises of the Duchy of Cornwall now anyway.

By the way OP - have you done any research on how much any of the male members of the Royal Family spend on their clothes in a year? Oh yeah, I forgot. Men can wear the same outfit time after time and no-one notices, but if a woman in the public eye were to do that... well imagine what the media reaction would be to that.

Livelovebehappy · 31/12/2022 16:25

I don’t care. And I suspect the majority of people don’t either. I don’t pay towards her wardrobe so it’s none of my business. As for her championing unknown British designers, why should she? I like certain brands, and dislike others, and I guess she’s the same and shouldn’t be made to wear stuff that she doesn’t like just to appease OP. A lot of the ‘unknown fashion designers’ are unknown for a reason……

It would probably set that unknown designer up for life. That's what.

How about the Princess of Wales - you know, her actual title? Is that difficult for you?

Livelovebehappy · 31/12/2022 16:27

tatalan · 31/12/2022 16:24

No, just tax payer funded folks.

But as has already been pointed out, tax payers don’t pay for her clothes….

No need to be sarky. It does you no favours.
Is PoW OK? Or does everyone on here have to type out Princess of Wales every time they mention her?

And by the way, me calling her Kate or whatever is not pulling her down a peg or two. It is plain and simple quick typing.

Shesasuperfreak · 31/12/2022 16:28

Her title is arbitrary, its made up. And you don't have to believe in the system of princes and princesses.

FurAndFeathers · 31/12/2022 16:30

urbanbuddha · 31/12/2022 15:56

It averages out at under £1300 per outfit. It’s part of her role to look well-presented and appropriately dressed for whatever the occasion is. The events she attends are also attended by people who expect the Princess of Wales to be well turned out so that figure seems okay.

Btw she’s not “Princess Kate”. She’s Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, or the Princess of Wales. She’s “Kate” in the press as a hangover from her single days.

Only 84 of her engagements were in person - the rest were phone/online so actually over 2k per engagement

Ineedwinenow · 31/12/2022 16:31

Her name is Catherine and it’s the Princes of Wales and secondly yes she wears expensive British and non British designers when she’s working but in her private life it’s been mentioned several times that she loves the high street with Zara being one of her favourites.

Also she may have worn 170k worth of clothing but she does re wear a lot of her official engagement clothing items too so those items will have been included in that total despite her owning some pieces for years! I myself spend a few thousand on specific pieces of clothing but it doesn’t mean I’m not self aware nor aware of what’s happening in the rest of the uk and it certainly doesn’t mean I should shop at a charity shop because others do, I like the Prince and Princess support charities and if me wearing expensive items of clothing whilst being aware of my surrounding is a bad thing then so be it.

piedbeauty · 31/12/2022 16:31

Bulbstarglitterball · 31/12/2022 15:38

It’s appalling. She’d look great in anything and could champion real unknown talent which could cost a fraction of this.

She does actually do this...

You typed Middleton, which takes longer than Kate

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 31/12/2022 16:31

No, just tax payer funded folks.

So not her then.

piedbeauty · 31/12/2022 16:32

Meh. She needs to wear a lot of clothes to meet the public. If she wears the same thing too often people criticise her.

I think she tries to wear clothes by British and new designers, to help their business.

FancyFanny · 31/12/2022 16:32

it was always Princess Diana so don’t see the difference

Spect8 · 31/12/2022 16:33

I don't care what is spent on her outfits. What I don't like is "the uniform" of coat dresses of similar style at every outdoors thing I see her in.

OK she jazzes it up with golden frocks etc. for film premieres and the like, but I am not a fan of the ubiquitous coat dress.

I agree that she could promote cutting edge and new British fashion, the perfect person for it, but plays very very safe in her uniform every time.

Roussette · 31/12/2022 16:34

cinnabongene · 31/12/2022 16:31

Sigh.

As you well know if you read back, I made a point about Meghan being referred to as 'Markle' a number of times. No first name. I said it was rude.

It was then asked if 'Middleton' was OK to refer to Kate as, on a thread. THAT is why I typed Middleton.

Read back on my posts.

toocold54 · 31/12/2022 16:34

I think it’s ridiculous but then an MNer paid £10 for a pair of socks which I also thinks ridiculous but if you can afford it then it’s up to you what you spend it on.

tatalan · 31/12/2022 16:35

What's wrong with Princess Kate btw? Her name is Kate and she's a Princess, same for Meghan 🤔

OP posts:
SallyLockheart · 31/12/2022 16:37

OP. Are you Omid?

StormzyinaTCup · 31/12/2022 16:38

Well... as Meghan was referred to as 'Markle' (without her first name) on another thread more than once and when someone questioned this and asked if it was OK to call Kate/Catherine 'Middleton' that appeared to be a question they didn't want to answer.

And, as I answered you on the other thread, MM is now a CELEBRITY, it's the life she has chosen for herself and therefore now shouldn't be an issue for her to be addressed as such same as Clarkson, Morgan, Winfrey, Clooney, Markle. As with any celebrity as long as she is being talked about I expect she doesn't give two hoots whether it's by her first name or last name.
