Posters may need to wary (or outside the UK)

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9806517/Journalists-face-14-years-prison-embarrassing-Government-proposed-law-change.html
That is dreadful. But the obvious solution is to leak them to foreign journalists. They can then run stories about it and about how it is banned to publish in Britain. It will make Britain rightly appear like a third world dictatorship.
And you cant stop stuff being on social media. Twitter tried with the affair.

NiceShrubbery · 10/01/2022 15:31

Thanks for the warning SJ. But they already do that, and worse, when they need to (Julian Assange). Freedom of speech will soon officially be illegal, then we can look forward to social credits.

You didn't read it did you ? The whole act is aimed at UK citizens (well we know that's a matter of Priti Patels opinion now) in the UK who leak to foreign journalists.

RoyalFamilyFan · 10/01/2022 15:32

@SerendipityJane no I didn't read that thoroughly enough. That is shocking.

Assange is a sleaze.

Not arguing that one on here as it's irrelevant to PA, but the point is JA has been treated worse than a serial killer would be: just because he told the truth about the USA.

Let's be careful what we post!

RoyalFamilyFan · 10/01/2022 15:52

If you always post links to articles with more controversial info, then it should be fine.
By the way one of the things I find interesting is that when you see a strange story about something e,g. a RF member that seems to be a non story, it is often them hinting about something they are not allowed to say. There have been a few of them about.

TVTestCard · 10/01/2022 15:52

Thanks to whoever posted the Vanity Fair article about Epstein and Wexner et al. I thought this line was brilliant-

“Putting Jeffrey Epstein with Prince Andrew was like putting a rattlesnake in an aquarium with a mouse. The rattlesnake may not eat him now. The rattlesnake may save him for later. But the mouse ain’t gonna win.”

Assange bought his own situation - inhumane as it may be - squarely on himself. By being a sleaze.

And it is slightly relevant to this thread, as he's a another entitled male who thought he'd get away with it.

Also, it's not out of keeping to view Prince Andrews current situation as being strangely similar to Assanges self-imposed exile in sovereign territory.

RoyalFamilyFan · 10/01/2022 15:55

So this is some RF members trying to distance themselves from Andrew. This makes me think they are seriously worried it will go to a full trial.

I am no fan of Assange. I think he was guilty as hell.

Good grief!
It's gone a bit 'Republicans R Us' on here today.

Roussette · 10/01/2022 16:09

From that article... Sources have revealed the Duke, who vehemently denies the claims, “wants to clear his name”, but realises a civil trial could cause catastrophic reputational damage to the monarchy

Maybe he should've thought about how he behaves years ago. I hate statements like this... it's seeking sympathy and talks as if he cares. Perhaps he shouldn't have got wowed by money and status with JE and his ilk who he has been wooing for decades.

As Libby Purves (who is a straight talker) said in 2015...
"Prince Andrew dazzles easily when confronted with immense wealth and apparent power. He has fallen for 'friendships' with bad, corrupt and clever men, not only in the US but in Libya, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tunisia, wherever."

Yes I know us plebs are only supposed to argue over a dress that Kate is wearing or the latest hairstyle.

Vapeyvapevape · 10/01/2022 16:12

PA must know of others that were on Epstein's island , I wonder if any 'deals' will be done in exchange for him keeping his trap shut. Although, I guess , that means he is admitting that he knows dodgy things were going on.

RoyalFamilyFan · 10/01/2022 16:12

@Roussette a trial could only cause massive reputational damage if he either loses or if things are revealed in court he would rather remain hidden.
The general public view appears to be that his fight so far on technicalities means that he is guilty.

Well out of his league and his depth - but wouldn't imagine he was going to be told, he thought he was the big 'I am'.

The higher you climb the harder you fall.

Sign of things to come 🙂

If you type "catastrophic reputational damage British monarchy" into Google, you get 12,800,000 hits 🙂🙂👍

republican please Grin

Republican suggests some sort of affiliation with the GOP - and that simply will not do.

PlanktonsComputerWife · 10/01/2022 16:23

I can't recall this second who Libby Purves is, but this line of discussion makes the writer sound rather ignorant and xenophobic to me. We can rattle off CIS and North African Arab states all we like, but the fact remains that Andrew's paedo best friends were English and American.

StormzyinaTCup · 10/01/2022 16:23

Probably not in my lifetime! (and I'm not that old)

No offence taken Grin

It served as a reminder to get my system checked in case one of these godawful updates has buggered my settings up again and transported me to the land of honor, color, and 'erbs, with a capital "R" for all things republican.

System is still set to "Blighty" with approved Lsd and imperial shortcuts.
