Royal my DM lived and worked in London during WW2 and she said that there was a lot of respect for the Queen at the time, because she stayed in London, and she was a landgirl.

KravMaga · 10/01/2022 00:16

I can’t understand why the mum of Beatrice’s friend who had the party at Pizza Express can’t just say “it was our kid’s party, we were very surprised to have Prince Andrew in Pizza Express - he left at 8pm when it ended”. His PPO is dead - but if Prince Harry came to my DD’s party in Prezzo Hull, I wouldn’t forget it. And would repeat it. And it would be in family lore and we would know which DD and what age she was and it would be super easy to confirm..

RoyalFamilyFan · 10/01/2022 00:16

Perhaps for the Queen? I don't know. But the Queen was only 13 years old when war broke out, 19 years old when it finished. And for most of it, she was not in London. This article confirms that.

www.nationalww2museum.org/war/articles/queen-elizabeth-ii-during-world-war-ii

My gran did not mention what people thought of the Queen during WW2. But as she was not an adult for most of it, I can imagine people would not have seen her in the same light as the older Royals.

KravMaga · 10/01/2022 00:17

Obviously they don’t have to go to the tabloids or anything but tell SOMEONE. Maybe they already have and it just weirdly hasn’t leaked.

Maybe because he wasnt there? Or he was there for 5 minutes and wanted them to say he was there the whole time? No one with any sense at all would lie for him if they had no involvement in abusing the teenagers.
RoyalFamilyFan · 10/01/2022 00:19

@KravMaga I read in the papers that the parents of the child whose birthday party it was said they couldn't remember when it happened.

Lofari · 10/01/2022 04:04

I'll be honest. A few years ago I wouldn't have been able to pick PA out of a line up.
But I would perhaps have questioned a parent at my child's party who came with security.....not likely to be something anyone would forget.

SpindleyCrow · 10/01/2022 05:21

I finally got around to reading the Mail's discussion of the expensive a team that is wrapped around Andrew

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10384053/Prince-Andrews-expensive-team-advisers-including-solicitor-nicknamed-Good-News-Gary.html

Personal opinion - it's not working. He looks worse every passing day, and his family really aren't helping.

Roussette · 10/01/2022 07:15

'Good News Gary'? You couldn't make it up.

I read that aides and other Palace officials have been totally kept in the dark as far as what PA is doing with the case. He has ploughed his own furrow as it were.
Which might be why the RF have given up on him somewhat. Obviously they would be going for the more cautious approach but this US legal team are probably opposed to that.

Reading that article, it's gobsmacking A massive legal team in UK, with the likes of lawyers who have defended crime families, an extradition lawyer who defended Chilean dictator Pinochet, a lawyer who defended a well known footballer after a brawl... etc etc. They surrounded him at the beginning and no one in the Palace knew what was going on.

In the US, his legal team is spearheaded by 'The Rottweiler', a lawyer who defended Weinstein.

No wonder the legal bill is up to millions...

Having such a team implies to me that he needs all the help he can get and he knows it.

KravMaga · 10/01/2022 08:07

I found the thing - they don’t remember him being there and Beatrice can’t remember it at all though they confirmed she went. It’s such a pointless ‘alibi’ as it’s not even the right time. Tramp is easy to get to after all that. Take B home, change, go up to London. Plus VR has said she might be wrong about dates anyway.

If the Very Famous Person was the parent of your DD's classmate, you'd see them at sone parties and events over all the years at that school, and no it wouldn't stick in your memory. Because you'd be thinking 'well was it Sophie's or Jocasta's party? Was it the one at Pizza Express Woking or Pizza Express Weybridge? I can't remember'

I'd expect staff and other people there to be the ones who would remember, as they are the ones for whom his presence would be unusual and memorable. But would they remember the exact date?

Because having said where he was, it would be good if he could show where he was. It doesn't let him off the hook for his movements after the Woking party, but it could demonstrate something about his levels of truthfulness

SerendipityJane · 10/01/2022 08:14

Wondered if there was a new thread ...

Vapeyvapevape · 10/01/2022 08:15

@KravMaga Obviously it would help if someone confirmed he was at Pizza Hut as it would add some credibility to his story . But it's the fact that he said he couldn't have been dancing in a nightclub because he was at Pizza Hut that's the ridiculous part , it's quite possible to have done both.

derxa · 10/01/2022 08:38

.

Vapeyvapevape · 10/01/2022 09:26

I hope people have a conscience and don't buy the chalet in order to fund PA's legal fees. What's the betting it gets sold to his mate who bought Southfork (or whatever it's called) though.

Vapeyvapevape · 10/01/2022 09:27

I mean so PA can't pay his legal fees

CurzonDax · 10/01/2022 09:32

I wonder how he managed to pay the final balance on the chalet?

@Vapeyvapevape - 100% agree. How can anyone buy that place knowing what their money will go on to fund? Sadly, I'd imagine there will be a few people who are rich enough and just don't care.

SerendipityJane · 10/01/2022 09:52

How can anyone buy that place knowing what their money will go on to fund?

Probably the same way people can buy chocolate that's made with palm oil despite knowing it's environmental costs. Quite easily.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/01/2022 10:36

One of the issue the RF now face is the internet ... It is far harder to rewrite history now. And I don't think the RF has come to grips with this yet

I think this is an important point, and have mentioned it myself more than once
Though history gets rewritten on the internet too - you only have to look at some of the garbage on there for that - it's sent the RF into a horrible spiral where they're constantly playing catch-up over whatever their latest lie is, in an attempt to keep the oiks off their back

Yet another reason why they just don't work in today's world

RoyalFamilyFan · 10/01/2022 10:53

@Puzzledandpissedoff yes people still try to rewrite history, but they get caught out. A Conservative Minister for example tried to claim the first lockdown happened earlier than it actually did. He was widely ridiculed and sent on Twitter proof of government announcements about the first lockdown.
I still see lots of RF rewrites of history supported by some media, from before the internet. For example, it was widely thought by the public that they did not want the boys to march behind Dian's coffin and that the only reason the RF made them, was to stop anyone from the public throwing things at the RF members. Lots of columnists wrote about this, it was not a minority view. I was pretty much a bystander who until then had supported the RF, so I was not seeking out these views.
But history has been totally rewritten. Just as it has about the RF and WW2 and the Blitz.
But now, we can all still watch Andrew's disastrous performance on Newsnight. They cant rewrite what he said. My mum swears on the RF at-home documentary that the Queen told a racist anecdote. It was shown on the original on TV, but after that edited out. You cant find it online. That kind of retrospective scrubbing can't happen now. However hard you try, you cant scrub things totally off the internet forever.
Also injunctions no longer really work. There is supposedly an injunction relating to Williams affair. But we are all able to read the foreign press and read all about the affair. And as a result, it is talked about on Twitter and elsewhere.
So the RF either have to learn to be more discrete - the affair was supposedly an open secret with no attempt made to hide it. not engage in criminal acts, and basically act like decent people - or they will continually experience bad publicity.

upinaballoon · 10/01/2022 11:23

The Queen was in the ATS, the Auxilliary Territorial Service, in effect the women's equivalent of the army. They didn't fight on the front line.
They did back-up jobs. Some ATS girls served overseas. Obviously the Queen couldn't be in it at the beginning of the War because she was too young. She was 18 in 1944 so perhaps that's when she joined. There was a well-seen photo of her learning about something like truck maintenance.

I think the implication according to this article is that he didn't actually go inside the pizza express but waited outside. Very convenient.
