I didn't know he even had SM accounts (as opposed to the royals' own sites) but it's probably just as well they're deleted

I imagine most of his personal search history will be too ...

MayThePawsBeWithYou · 19/01/2022 16:46

Who removes the accounts, the social media group or PA team.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 19/01/2022 17:18

Wow. Ruthless - now.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/jan/19/prince-andrew-social-media-accounts-deleted-as-he-fights-us-lawsuit

He's the Duke of the Past Tense.

CathyorClaire · 19/01/2022 19:48

Duke of Tense for sure.

I really can't imagine why he needed SM sites in the first place but I don't suppose for an instant there aren't private accounts.

I'm just imagining the rest of them scrambling frantically to dodge the golf gigs Grin

Apologies for the Daily Mail link.

I am really curious about how this'll go.

Vapeyvapevape · 20/01/2022 07:30

IMO this juror saw this trial as a way to get his 15 minutes of fame and increased it by giving interviews. In his quest to be on the tv he may have robbed the victims of justice.

100problems · 20/01/2022 20:38

William asked to comment "moved closer to hear the question" moved on with no reply.

Faevern · 20/01/2022 20:54

I think the jurors were nobbled after the trial. Couldn’t be got at before but they were pretty quick to speak out. I think they would have been offered an incentive rather than threatened, with the intent of forcing a retrial.

Mamamia7962 · 20/01/2022 21:04

100problems - The Royal Family never reply to personal questions like that. To be honest they get asked some really stupid things by the press.

prh47bridge · 20/01/2022 21:09

Two jurors have spoken. The others have not contradicted their account. So, either they have all been bribed (unlikely) or none of them have been. It is common for jurors to give interviews to the press in the US, particularly in high profile cases like this. It is one of the reasons a much higher proportion of US cases are declared a mistrial than is the case in the UK. It is highly unlikely that they have been bribed or threatened.
Faevern · 20/01/2022 21:30

Very convenient then, if not bribed. Though I have got to the point that I no longer think anything is unlikely in this saga.

If VG receives a substantial settlement I don’t think it is recoverable in the UK. It’s a Civil not Criminal case so she may not see any money.

To repeat something I posted up thread...

The courts in the UK will enforce a US judgement if the following conditions are met:

  • the judgement is final and conclusive, i.e. there is no appeal, nor are there any conflicting prior judgements
  • it is for an ascertainable and definite sum of money
  • the US court had jurisdiction. This will normally be accepted if the person against whom the judgement was made was in the US when proceedings were issued or has otherwise submitted to the jurisdiction of the US court. If the defendant does not respond to the courts at all and default judgement is entered, the UK courts may conclude that the US court did not have jurisdiction
  • the judgement was not obtained fraudulently
  • enforcing the judgement would not be contrary to public policy or the European Convention on Human Rights, so awards that are intended to be punitive are unenforceable
  • the judgement was not awarded in a manner that was contrary to natural justice
Malibuismysecrethome · 21/01/2022 18:51

^ thank you for clarifying

Roussette · 21/01/2022 18:55

What does that mean? (Sorry, I don't know)

He could ignore it and wouldn't be liable?

The real question would be what assets (if any) Prince Andrew might hold in the US. They would be recoverable.
PlanktonsComputerWife · 21/01/2022 19:23

Just learnt a lovely legal term from The Chase, "embracery," defined by Oxford as "The common-law crime of attempting to influence a jury corruptly in favour of one party in a trial by promises, persuasions, entreaties, money, entertainments, or the like."

I doubt there was any embracery in this case, but I love the word!

The late dear departed Meat Loaf threatened to push Prince Andrew into a moat. Grin Well done Mr Loaf

JanuaryBluehoo · 21/01/2022 19:48

Anyone seen pa maid from decades ago weighing in, saying he was revolting towards her?
Shouted at her for not closing his curtains properly and being awful.

CathyorClaire · 21/01/2022 20:16

Yes. Saw this story. Apparently she had to get changed into an evening gown (?) then climb four flights of stairs to close the curtains he was sitting a few feet from.

I can entirely believe this given this is the man who sprayed reporters with paint, told his protection officers to 'fucking pick it up' when he dropped papers and drove through malfunctioning gates at Windsor rather than take a detour to a set that worked.

KeepingAnOpenMind · 21/01/2022 20:20

The way he treated his poor maid is disgusting.
I'm glad the people that have worked for this disgusting specimen are finally speaking out.
How you treat people that work for you says so much about you.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/01/2022 20:21

If he had any I'd expect them to have been moved - even if just into someone else's name - by now
If we "normal" folk can find this out I'm sure his lawyers can, so ...

Well done indeed Grin

Quite telling though that it was Andrew who tried to do it first then squealed royal fainites when retaliation was on the cards.

Sounds like a limerick in the making...

Ahalam · 22/01/2022 08:45

I’m a bit dubious about the stories about Prince Andrew’s teddy bears. Are they trying to lay the groundwork to suggest he has low IQ or special needs?
