Prince Harry revealed in his Oprah interview that the Sussexes stopped receiving money from the royal family in the first quarter of 2020. However, newly published accounts reveal that Prince Charles continued to financially support the Sussexes until summer 2020.

I wonder if this is going to be a case of their truth or incorrect wording on Harry’s behalf. Interesting!

Yes they need to keep their feet under the rf table somehow to maintain their US 'royal' status. Let's face it I bet someone like Zara Philips wouldn't tolerate all their attention seeking crap.

I think it's nice if the cousins have been able to remain close, especially given the age gaps. Harry is 6 years older than Eugenie, Meghan is about 8.5 years older.

I get on very well with my sibling. Our age gap is not as much as that, and I wouldn't be able to describe our relationship as 'close' until we were both in our 40's. There were no problems whatsoever, we were just at different life stages.

It be lovely if all the latest generation of cousins / second cousins could be just as close, although it's a huge challenge now they are spread over different continents.

Whether she announced it at Eugenie’s wedding is moot, I believe - there was a rumour that they told family members that day, which was disputed - but that’s when it became generally known, due to MM’s choice of outfit if not via literal announcement.

It is relevant to the discussion about Meghan and Eugenie’s relationship.

I thought that the official announcement of M's pregnancy was made on the day after Eugenie's wedding or even the next day. I had looked at her in the dark blue coat in the wedding footage and thought that she might soon have to be announcing something. She was showing a bit by then. I know there are some folk who think M upstaged E by 'announcing her pregnancy on the same day' but I should think anyone at the reception who got a closer look at her would have known without being told. She couldn't have kept it quiet for much longer.

Beatrice and Eugenie have never been ones to react to all the negative press coverage they have had for years for example. She strikes you as that probably because her Mother comes across like that. And she hasn't been so constrained within the RF. Who knows what are her feelings on H&M. Bottom line, we don't know. She might secretly be giving them a high five for making their own way.

For me, she wasn't showing at all! I get that she wanted it to be out there before the tour of Australia began, in case she was tired or sick and that sparked speculation. But it wasn't that she was visibly pregnant. Here's a photo from the first day of the Australian tour, also the day the pregnancy was officially announced to the public.

And that photo came from this spread in the Sussex-friendly Harper's Bazaar, just in case it seems like I'm cherry picking. Meghan looks enviably slim to me in all these!

No, it was a little while later on International Baby Loss Day.

It is quite hard work to persuade BBC to cover stillbirth and neonatal death. But they year they were doing it, and I had just seen the first segment on thebreakfast news (others were to follow throughout the day - big achievemt)

They were all pulled following the announcement (early morning UK time)

I know the requirements for elements of the Australian tour meant they wanted to announce around then, but there was nothing in the first part of the programme that meant it could not have waited.

I assume that the staff did not carry out the usual checks that are part of high profile announcements, and hope it was not the couple just riding roughshod

The way her coat was buttoned at the wedding certainly got everyone talking - and looking at the Australia photos, there was no need at that point to be wearing 'maternity' style clothes.

HM flew back to London yesterday and was at Windsor Horse Show in the afternoon.

I think it was, but again I go back to her history as an actress where every photo opportunity is "a look at me" moment, something that's drummed into you by PR people and your agent.

It's expected and applauded.

You're meant to generate headlines through speculation like this - it's part of the job.

Put simply I think this goes back to her not being properly informed about the differences between celebrity life and royal life and I lay the blame for that very much it H's feet.

It reminds me of when they were on the balcony and she kept turning round to speak to him. You could see on the TV him saying "turn around" through gritted teeth and her looking both confused and embarrassed.

I actually felt really sorry for her. All it would have taken was 30 seconds before they walked onto the balcony for him to say "you need to know that once we are outside you must not turn your back to the crowd, not even to speak to me. Keep facing forward, smiling and waving". That's it - that's all that was needed to have avoided her getting another set of headlines about breaking protocol.

In Hollywood the pressure is always on to deliver, otherwise you’re sliding down the totem A+ down to z. The pressure must be relentless in one way to generate headlines and keep networking for jobs

In the RF, they would have enjoyed an elevated position for years (until w&k’s children were grown, but as posters have said the subtle and not so subtle differences weren’t pointed out and she might have felt racism was at play

They’re headed back to Hollywood where they can be ‘their authentic selves’ which is funny because there is no authentic in Hollywood, but at least she knows the rules there, and she’s moved up the Hollywood rungs and plans to stay there

I guess that still leaves the problem that him playing "Hollywood" is going to make any family reconciliation more difficult to navigate.

Tbh when they married I thought her being an actress was a really good thing in terms of being able to face the pressure of royal life.

I didn't really consider that it is two very different worlds with very different expectations of how to conduct yourself and rather than being useful experience it probably made it even harder for her.

I have read that the Queen visited him at Frogmore Cottage soon after his arrival. I guess she is too busy for lunches though.

I’ve been saying for a while now that it’s a remarkable coincidence that the two serous girlfriends that knew/learned the ins and outs of royal life declined to marry Harry and yet the one he married relatively quickly seems to have been woefully underprepared…

Even down to not knowing that they curtsy and bow to the Queen in private. How do you say to someone “are you sure you want to join my crazy family?” without mentioning the need to curtsy to Granny?

If Meghan posted on here about the curtsying, the balcony or various other things she’d have been told to LTB.
