We really might need a tiara thread if we're going for a full range of pictures! I'm up for that. We can link and cross reference.

7Worfs · 22/02/2020 22:51

I'm going to be controversial - I don't like the meander tiara. Grin

I'll have The Girls of Great Britain & Ireland one. What Worfs wants, Worfs gets

The Poltimore tiara (pic hopefully attached) was quite the thing too like Princess Margaret

Love the tiara talk. I think there was also an allegation that Meghan was rude to Kate's staff and also to the caterers before the wedd and the Queen had a word with her. Riveting if true.

Wedding

yolofish · 22/02/2020 22:53

I would imagine (after choosing the SPARKLIEST of sparkly ones, which clearly I would go for) there's also an element of comfort involved - which ones dont give you a migraine, which ones dont feels as if they will topple if you move your head one inch to the left. I know they are fitted to individuals, but some are clearly going to be heavier than others.

It's a dilemma innit.

Butterymuffin · 22/02/2020 22:54

The Queen Mary lozenge one that Meghan wore was beautiful. And unfortunately now probably won't be worn again thanks to the loosely applied lifetime rule and, let's say, 'recent events'. Unless she ever has a daughter, at least. Charlotte will eventually get her mother's, I guess.

Rainbows8117 · 22/02/2020 22:55

I liked the Telegraph article, pretty much summed up many of the comments on this thread.

I thought this was interesting as I wondered why they felt the need to point it out

The couple reiterate that "no new appointments will be made to fill Harry’s military roles before the 12-month review of the new arrangements is completed" in an apparent swipe at reports Princess Anne would be taking over his role as Colonel General of the Royal Marines.

7Worfs · 22/02/2020 22:55

Don't forget Meg's complaint that St George's chapel smells 'musty' and the request to install air fresheners.
HMQ firmly put her foot down on that too.

lyralalala · 22/02/2020 22:55

She hasn’t worn it to state banquets since she was allowed use of the Lover’s Knot

I prefer the Lotus flower, but in terms of tiara significance the Lover’s knot is one of the big hitters

It’s said to be extremely heavy and awkward to wear, but Kate seemed to be fine with it at the recent banquets.

I seen a photoshop once where the pearls had been interchanged with diamond and I wished it was like the Vladimir in the interchange-ability!

I wonder if we’ll ever see the top pearls back on it. I doubt it as the diamond are nicer

yoikes · 22/02/2020 22:56

worfs!!!!! Grin
You are dead to me...

lyralalala · 22/02/2020 22:56

If I was having a tiara it would be the Rundell tiara

Assuming the horrible rumours it’s been broken up are just rumours

I certainly agree that most of the senior royal women seem to have certain go-to tiaras that are seen as "theirs" and not loaned out to other members of the family. I'd be shocked to see anyone but Kate in the Cambridge Lover's Knot now etc.

I just feel that the bald statement "Tiaras are worn only by one person in their lifetime." isn't hugely accurate. There are any number of caveats and exceptions.

I think an important factor is also that the Queen didn't receive a number of tiaras until her mother's death in 2002 - including the Greville and the Delhi Durbar tiaras now worn by Camilla.

yoikes · 22/02/2020 22:58

Medieaval buildings do have that fault, yes Grin

Gawd. If even half what's been alleged is true then the RF must be like "wtaf??"

lyralalala · 22/02/2020 22:59

A tiara thread if anyone fancies it

Bluntness100 · 22/02/2020 22:59

If you think back to that cringe worthy statement they made a few weeks back, about “Carving out a progressive new role”, and how they would “collaborate with the queen”, this is just a series of embarrassments for them. It really makes them look like they don’t live in the real world and are blinded by their own sense of entitlement and popularity. They thought they were it.

And now they are sending out bitter statements saying basically “we are still fucking royal and the queen can do one”

What an absolute and utter mess they are making of this.

yolofish · 22/02/2020 23:00

god I bloody love the tiara knowledge, it's like discovering a whole new world! (cue Disney song, hence fred relevance).

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/02/2020 23:00

I'll have The Girls of Great Britain & Ireland one

Only if I don't get to it first Wink

Have to confess I don't like that meander tiara at all ... or the one Eugenie wore ... or Meghan's wedding one

Not sparkly enough, any of them!!

lilmishap · 22/02/2020 23:02

@CanIHaveATiaraPlease I have been wondering (cynical as I am) Whether they did this now, because they know William & Charles won't have any time for it.
No-one forgives more than your Grandmother.....when her husband is seriously ill

yoikes · 22/02/2020 23:03

(Shakes head)
Some people have no taste. But that's ok, I'll have all 3 of those :)

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 22/02/2020 23:04

Margaret looks so glamorous in that bathroom pic! The Tiara truly suits he, but bit too trellis or lacey looking for my liking though!

drina27 · 22/02/2020 23:07

Great post, @Bluntness100.

Sunshineand · 22/02/2020 23:11

So I guess you're angry Kate Middleton scented Westminster Abbey with orange blossom too? Thought not Hmm

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 22/02/2020 23:13

I actually think Charles is guilt ridden over Diana & I reckon gives me easily- no evidence just a feeling I have. I think William will be harder. The Queen has a core of steel imo & will put the crown before individuals.

Alsohuman · 22/02/2020 23:13

I thought Westminster Abbey had Jo Malone candles.
