Ha yolo we posted at exactly the same time saying similar Grin

Brilliant post @DeRigueurMortis I also complete agree. I don’t think they’ll get divorces. At least not for at least 7 years and not directly as a result of this.

DeRigueurMortis · 22/02/2020 17:52

I and as to the question - will they attend B's wedding...

Of course they will unless specifically asked not to do so.

It's the perfect press/social media opportunity to show they are "still" Royal, put up lots of content on IG and the possibility they might overshadow the bride and groom is an added incentive.

The spotlight being on them is exactly what they want in building their "brand".

It's not about balls of steel - it's marketing pure and simple.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 17:52

Good point spinney! Wineand Cake for all! Grin

SpinneyHill · 22/02/2020 17:53

But he has been so very badly advised, from the get-go

He has dumped anyone who has advised him a way he doesn't like though.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 17:54

De very good point too! I love these threads as different views and points merge and come together!
So many interesting points of view! Smile

yolofish · 22/02/2020 17:55

Yeah, weighing up the Marines or Disney... well clearly no contest! I think I mentioned before something along the lines of "a bunch of Ruperts in gold braid, or Mr Disney?"

There's something very emotional about it for me which I know doesnt make sense to a lot of the population.

yolofish · 22/02/2020 17:55

They may well have been very well-advised, they just chose not to listen - that's the difference.

7Worfs · 22/02/2020 17:57

DeRig You are right about the couples brand being stronger together and I can think of many examples, but they all have some kind of talent and have achieved a lot individually prior to coupling.

I have my doubts about H&M’s potential...

ilovejeffgoldblum · 22/02/2020 17:57

I understand yolo , serving your country is supposed to be an honour, not a money making scheme!

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 17:58

The blowing off the Marines for the Lion King was Harry showing who he is, to half-quote their friend Oprah.

SussexRoyalties · 22/02/2020 17:59

I’m just agog at what has been happening over the last week.

And yes to PP. This is not going to end happily.

yolofish · 22/02/2020 17:59

dandy yes one event was royal, the other was celebrity. Clearly no contest for M, but why on earth did H go along with it?

SussexRoyalties · 22/02/2020 18:00

You can see the scene now: H&M walk into the room and the entire RF fall silent.

💨💨💨💨

yolofish · 22/02/2020 18:00

Here's a rad fem idea!!! They could have gone separately to both!

MissEliza · 22/02/2020 18:01

I wonder what Charles and William thought about that statement and if they shared their feelings with H. Apparently both of them have terrible tempers.

mateysmum · 22/02/2020 18:03

FWIW, here are my thoughts.

  1. MM and P genuinely love one another but a core part of the attraction for her was that he had a position which meant they could "change the world" and as an added bonus "single handedly modernise" the fusty old monarchy - to quote one of her many "friends".

  2. For PH, here was this stunning, clever woman who could help him do what he had always wanted - escape the attention that comes with royal life but simultaneously do all the good works for which PH genuinely feels an interest.

  3. But...,MM had no real idea what she was getting into and in her arrogance didn't feel the need to learn - after all she was going to bring everything round to her way.

4)Critically she failed to understand the difference between celebrity and royalty. Only now is she coming to realise that the Queen is a head of state and the royal family has a constitutional position which is real and powerful.
She has no concept of DUTY. Absolutely no fucking concept at all.
She had no idea about how the British public feel towards the royal family and that public opinion is a linchpin which holds our constitution together. Fuck with HMQ and we'll fuck with you MM.

She is taking her advice from PR people who know and care even less about the RF and the constitution than she does and Harry isn't currently willing to change this.

  1. She never gave "us" a chance. Not the RF, not the people, not the country. She must have been planning her exit before the ink was dry on the marriage certificate.

  2. They have so gone about this in the wrong way. They could have stepped back quietly but no they did the equivalent of a moonlight flit and are now bitching because they can't take all their toys with them.

DandyRaven · 22/02/2020 18:03

They totally could. Was Meghan even invited to the Marines event? I guess plus ones are always welcome, but I mean it wouldn’t have been a problem if she didn’t go.

Which is why him not going is on him. She can’t be blamed for that even if it was her idea. He’s the one with the patronage or honour or whatever it is, and he was the one who’d made a prior commitment.

SpinneyHill · 22/02/2020 18:03

@MissEliza I keep thinking with Queen and PP into their last years, what has Harry done!
Brothers are much less forgiving than a grandmother!

DeRigueurMortis · 22/02/2020 18:05

I have my doubts about H&M’s potential...

Yes I think you're right hence me saying they have underestimated their cachet.

Yes they are in demand now because they are notorious.

Once all the fuss dies down what do they really have to offer? A very underwhelming set of experiences and portfolio.

So they'll milk it while they can (and probably think the supply of adoration will be unending) but over the long term you won't find them getting £££ speaking gigs for the great and the good to hear 2 people now in their 50's rehash the same material (at which point you might get the "Oprah" exclusive dish the dirt interview which will be a last "hurrah").

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/02/2020 18:08

Lets be honest...Harry has served his purpose now. There is no need for Meghan to have a second child- or him -.anymore

My thoughts exactly, now that it's all falling apart faster than even the worst doom-mongers forecast

To give them their due though, the RF machine are playing a blinder this time ... if only Harry had advice of the same quality, and was prepared to listen to it

Butterymuffin · 22/02/2020 18:10

@mateysmum yes, I think you're mostly right there. I can't decide myself whether Meghan 'never gave us a chance' or whether her views flipped at some point from 'I'm going to revolutionise the whole thing' to 'they're not listening to me! That's it, I'm done' and then got on with the badly-thought-out exit plan.
The idea of monetising their 'brand' does seem to have been in place for some time, though. Before it all went properly sour.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 22/02/2020 18:10

@DandyRaven yes only official in quotes would be even more aggressive! Have no idea what they think they're playing at!

So yes, I think they'll stick together, milk what they can financially and slowly see their stars start to fade

I'd agree except previous behaviour (including recent events) appear to indicate that when a certain individual feels hemmed in, a certain individual bolts and crucially moves onto the next big opportunity so bolts with intention. Something I do have to admire said individual for. Very focused about it all once it dissolves.

That next big opportunity could be an upcoming wealthy political star, or another prominent self-aggrandising opportunity. Being Step dad to an heir to the British throne is a big plus if you want to get instant limelight and kudos and are career savvy. PH should be aware of this.

Of course this is just my opinion.

Waitingfordennis · 22/02/2020 18:11

Matey spot on
