No surprise there, then.

Do we think he'll hold out for the threatened subpoena or will the renewed public spotlight mean he jumps before he's pushed?

Regardless of innocence or guilt surely he'd be daft to co-operate with the FBI. They have to prove their case, let them do it (or not).

Roussette · 23/06/2021 13:55

If he has nothing to hide, he could speak to the FBI, help them with this appalling case, clear his name, and become an active member of the RF again

@SummerSaladsAreBack

Only if he thinks or knows it would incriminate him. He clearly isnt dumb enough to think he can get away with the crsp he tried to pull on us with the fbi.

I saw that... more bad publicity for him. As for anyone on the news over here reporting this... no, silence. Surely a member of the Royal Family being sued for sexual abuse is a big thing?

Yesterday Sarah Ferguson was on Loose Women saying what an honest wonderful kind man he was.. Shock

Roussette · 10/08/2021 08:09

I tell a lie... BBC News have just had this on their Breakfast News. Quite rightly.

LadyLyndon · 10/08/2021 08:21

Poor Fergie never gets a break. First Balmoral holiday with HMTQ after Toegate and now they wake up to this. Fortunately they have a buffet-style breakfast but the footmen will have to perma-fix a vacant expression on their faces over luncheon as, deep down, I bet they’re smirking over the discomfort of the Monarch’s Second Son.

@slipperywhensparticus

Ok but it says in the article that andrew is going to do the interview? So why are they saying he has refused? Sounds like he has refused to go to them

Any one want to do quid pro quo? Swap a prince for that murderer?

1)He has not yet been proved guilty 2) He is never (if he has any sense) going to go prison in the U.S .3) According to the radio this morning the girl's legal term have been trying to get a response from him to discuss a "settlement" She wants money.

And the Queen probably believes he is innocent. Wouldn't you if it was your son

diddl · 10/08/2021 09:42

*"Prince Andrew is the only route left to VG for monetary compensation for all she went through."

So is that why he is the only one she is suing?

Is it likely that proof was kept somewhere?

I think PA is "dodgy" for want of a better word as he stayed friends with JE even after JE's conviction.

Did JE have some plausible excuses or PA was beholden to him?

OverByYer · 10/08/2021 10:05

It’s on all the news and quite rightly so. Shame he’s too much of a coward to face the music

Gilmorehill · 10/08/2021 10:05

This will drag on for years.

I think we have to remember... when interviewed by Emily Maitlis, PA refused to say that he regretted the friendship.

I don't think this will go anywhere apart from massive embarrassment for both him and the RF, but it says all you need to know about the man who doesn't regret a friendship with a convicted paedophile and showed little sympathy for the victims. I hope PA one day regrets his support for this man because he only gave up the friendship when forced.

Roussette · 10/08/2021 10:32

I’ll have an open mind about any court case but this is pushing for a settlement not a date in court

Well.... if Guiffre goes quiet we can probably guess that either the Queen or the RF have paid her off?

Yes, you are not wrong.

Honourable is a good word. He sticks that uniform and medals on, and preens.

Epstein had massive contacts, and it was probably all a bit edgy and exciting for PA, who was used to more staid friendships. It says it all that he thought all the young girls floating around the mansions were 'staff'.

"PA craved the Billionaire lifestyle, that’s why he continued to hang around with Epstein. He was probably dropped by everyone else too"

I think that also.

It's something to condone/turn a blind eye to stuff & another level to participate though.

Or is it?

Roussette · 10/08/2021 11:00

Well.... PA always comes across to me as the sort that knows which side his bread is buttered. It says something that his siblings don't particularly get on with him at all. Undoubtedly, he is being economical with the truth as far as his Mother.

Roussette · 10/08/2021 11:01

Sorry to repeat but this is what I said back in June....

If he has nothing to hide, he could speak to the FBI, help them with this appalling case, clear his name, and become an active member of the RF again

CathyorClaire · 10/08/2021 11:09

PA refused to say that he regretted the friendship

He also actively defended it citing the contacts he'd made who never would have come his way without Epstein.

I think it's interesting that the lawsuit only names Andrew given the number of rich and powerful names associated with Epstein. Makes me wonder if they believe they have some sort of evidence against him in particular which would also explain any attempts at a settlement.
