A thread for those who wish to discuss what's in the news and what your take on it is.

Thanks MrsCB 👍

One of Meghan’s paternal uncles was the one who got her the internship in Buenos Aires. He was a bit miffed at not being invited to her wedding.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 26/01/2020 08:22

Some mention in the press today about the current house being ‘too quiet and remote’ for them. So bored already.

katiegoestoaldi · 26/01/2020 08:23

Yes, always look on the bright side!

What is it about her that makes you think she's a social climber?

She was hardly a naive young bride. She knew what she was marrying in to and what it would involve.

She married a producer and sent the wedding rings back once she secured a regular role in a tv show

She runs as soon as she's gone up a rung. She was the epitome of smug when leaving Canada House then bolted to leave Harry to face the fallout from the statement sho knew was about to be released. What kind of parent leaves their very young baby in a different continent if not for calculating reasons? Had to make sure Harry delivered the bombshell didn't she. He hardly looks happy about any of it.

Once she's established in the North American sleb circuit, I wonder how long she'll stick around? I wonder how successful she'll even be. The social media one upmanship she's engaged in won't go down well with the high profile people she wants to attach herself to

Roussette · 26/01/2020 08:26

Also about Harry’s downward trajectory. He isn’t going to have any male friends out there of the sort he is friendly with now. No ex military, hunting shooting fishing types . Just M’s stylist type friends with whom he has nothing at all in common

Why do you think all his friends are going to ditch him? Just because he's moved to Canada? Friends span oceans.

I also agree that Harry has to take some responsibility for the pickle they are in. With his background, ‘collaborating with the Queen’ should have sounded like a bum note in a familiar song. (There were other bum notes too.) He should have stopped the madness or at least run it past the Queen before going public so that she could quietly do the same

Who says they are in a pickle? They are probably happy as Larry now and can plan their lives ahead without the toxicity over here.

The Queen knew. It has been reported in more than one place, that the Sun was about to leak the going so they had no choice but to go public with their plans.
The Queen knew, the RF knew, they were ironing out the logistics and then the Sun was going to run the story. They were forced to go public sooner than they wanted or lose control of something they had been working on.

The RF were not blindsided with this and it has been a stick to beat them with and it is untrue.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/01/2020 08:32

This Harry Markle blog
Will not be for everyone, but it is really analytical, and quite fascinating reading.

mrscampbellblackagain · 26/01/2020 08:33

I agree Rousette that discussions had been taking place but I think the RF press release made it pretty clear that they weren't ready for an announcement and launching the SussexRoyal new website was a misstep - I suspect Harry realises that now.

And who knows who linked the story to the Sun??

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 26/01/2020 08:39

If Harry and Meghan felt they had to make a statement about stepping down, then surely something cautious and anodyne would have been better? It was impetuous to unveil the highly controversial website when discussions were ongoing.

Roussette · 26/01/2020 08:40

One comment I have to make... and it goes without saying really.... do not believe the shit that the DMail spouts. Amazing that normally when someone on MN links to it, there is an apology but it now appears to be the go-to source for H&M news on here.

They spout lies, untruths, and use H&M as clickbait.

Try a more balanced view for a change..like this one. An interesting article questioning why Harry has been hung out to dry and Andrew is creeping his way back in. Here

katiegoestoaldi that's a very vitriolic post about Meghan Markle. Yes your opinion but really...
She bolted to leave Harry to face the fallout
She leaves her baby
She's the epitome of smug
She's calculating.
She runs as soon as she moves up a rung
She engages in social media oneupmanship

Nasty. Just nasty. This is a woman with a baby you're talking about here.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 26/01/2020 08:41

I enjoyed that article curly . Thanks for the link.

Poppyfields21 · 26/01/2020 08:42

Rousette
Why do you think all his friends are going to ditch him? Just because he's moved to Canada? Friends span oceans. his friends aren’t leaving him, he is leaving them. They have come out and said that they no longer see him since he married Meghan, despite being lifelong friends.

plan their lives ahead without the toxicity over here.
But if you believe MM (which I don’t...) they’re already facing paparazzi issues and the protections afforded to them here as part of the RF no longer apply so the ghastly press will now be all over them which of course they don’t want at all...or at least one of them doesn’t want Wink

Encyclo · 26/01/2020 08:42

Just read that article. I can't see where Harry is paying rent for Doria. I can see that Harry rented a mansion in Beverley hills when the first met Meghan, but Doria's still living in her own house.

Am I reading that wrong?

Poppyfields21 · 26/01/2020 08:44

This is a woman with a baby you're talking about here.
What an odd thing to say. Once one procreates are we all meant to give them a free pass to behave exactly as they like for the rest of their lives?

NancyDrewCrew · 26/01/2020 08:45

The thing I liked best about that Vanity Fair article was the inclusion that their Crown correspondent was speaking by phone over a cup of tea
Grin cos that's British credentials innit Brew
Then in the intro her amazing observation that H+M were unhappy from their doc. No shit Sherlock.
Finally what happened to Bogart. Smith has been dining out on that weak link like Piers does about MM sliding into his DMs
Ellen recommended the dogs' home, maybe she can quiz her about him, scooby dooby doo.
The term charidee for anyone who has forgotten came from Smashie and Nicey, the radio 1 old dinosaur DJ characters Harry Enfield and Paul Waterhouse played. (As you know Nicey and me do a MotherTeresamungously large amount of great work for charidee but don't like to talk about it) unlike Jimmy Savlon or very comely Joanna Lumley. You can bet your filipino houseboy had Diana lived she would have been the MIL from hell - if Harry had mentioned emigrating she'd have chucked herself down the stairs or declared an illness.

Roussette · 26/01/2020 08:45

f Harry and Meghan felt they had to make a statement about stepping down, then surely something cautious and anodyne would have been better?
Yes, quite possibly. Who knows how much was about to be leaked, we only know it was

Encyclo · 26/01/2020 08:46

Lots of references to Doria's hair though 🙄Smacks of a nothing burger article. They've got nowt.

Roussette · 26/01/2020 08:47

What an odd thing to say. Once one procreates are we all meant to give them a free pass to behave exactly as they like for the rest of their lives?

No, of course not. I just can't imagine laying into someone like this with such nastiness when we don't know them and we seem to be taking the Daily Mail as fact.

katiegoestoaldi · 26/01/2020 08:48

So a woman with a baby should be above criticism?

Fantastic! I have two. I'll go out and behave any way I like as my children shield me.

What an utterly bizarre argument

MM has behaved appallingly. H (as I also like to call him 😁) hasn't done much better

Roussette · 26/01/2020 08:48

They have come out and said that they no longer see him since he married Meghan, despite being lifelong friends

Have you a source for that. I will stand corrected if it isn't DM, the Sun etc.

Roussette · 26/01/2020 08:50

kate

MM has behaved appallingly

According to you.

Poppyfields21 · 26/01/2020 08:54

Rousette
An American source for you as of course, as MM has told us, only the evil nasty meanie British press post untruths

people.com/royals/prince-harry-cut-off-close-friends-during-meghan-markles-pregnancy-theres-a-lot-of-resentment/?utm_source=people.com&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=social-button-sharing

katiegoestoaldi · 26/01/2020 08:55

your argument that Meghan is some kind of innocent, misunderstood victim is only according to you aswell, so not sure what your point is Roussette

Poppyfields21 · 26/01/2020 08:57

kate fully in agreement with you here. The hypocrisy of MM supporters is nearly shocking. They must be modelling themselves on her

Butterymuffin · 26/01/2020 08:57

The Queen knew, the RF knew

They didn't know and weren't told the statement was going out. Hence the reporting afterwards that the Queen was 'disappointed' in that. BBC source uses that word, as quoted on here:
royalcentral.co.uk/uk/sussex/breaking-buckingham-palace-disappointed-as-harry-meghan-release-statement-without-consultation-135955/

Roussette · 26/01/2020 08:58

Poppy Thank you. I don't know the People or where it pitches itself in the US press. I would like to know who the 'well connected source' is who says he's given up on his friends!
