So the saga continues
Thé Canadians are not happy about paying for the Sussexes security

I think that will be their downfall. They can’t actually fund the cost of their «freedom»
Other security experts saying that the cost of 24/7 private security is about £4million per year.

Problem is; they have skipped the a Royal fold, and have to pay the real cost of their security and accommodation . They will have to sell every aspect of their Lives to fund this.

Coolio.

astralweaks · 14/01/2020 21:07

She better get a move on if she wants to beat Kim. She is pushing 40. Marrying a Royal is not a shortcut to the A list, apparently.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 14/01/2020 21:08

I also think Meghan has political ambitions, and yes I think she has her eye on the ultimate prize, The Whitehouse! It sounds ludicrous I know, but think about it, aligning themselves with the Obamas, the Clintons, the Clooneys. It’s been done before, Ronald Reagan an actor made it happen, and the only thing stopping Arnold Schwarzenegger was he wasn’t US born. Imagine if Meghan became the first female president with Harry as her ‘First Lady’ and imagine even more King William and Queen Kate having to roll out the red carpet for them on their state visit to the U.K......... the ultimate revenge for sticking her at the back of the balcony!

LaMarschallin · 14/01/2020 21:12

To state the blindingly obvious, we just don’t know what comes next. If their co-operation in the ITV documentary was qualified honesty, what would the real deal look like?
I have some idea of what might be aired in a full, no-holds-barred, sit-down interview and I don’t think it would be pretty.
I suspect the royal family would carry British public opinion still — perhaps only just — but its international standing is a key part of its value to the British state. If that were to be tarnished, it could be very damaging indeed.'

Tom Bradby in the Times.
No mention of Oprah but reads, to me anyway, as a bit of a veiled threat.

SeperatedSwans · 14/01/2020 21:12

BettyBoo and I bet Princess Ann would still shrug and gesture "what" 🤷🏻‍♀️ to William for the sidelines. 😳

Sofacat · 14/01/2020 21:12

I wonder how long it is until their ‘save the planet ‘ crusades fizzle out and they turn to celeb type stuff- chat shows , films , voice overs etc .

BillieEilish · 14/01/2020 21:14

Me too...
So that is her next move in 'avoiding publicity'

SunsetBoulevard3 · 14/01/2020 21:14

Koo Stark wasn’t considered wife material for PA at the time. Clearly standards aren’t what they were.
I bet HM has never seen the burger video. I wonder just how much they all actually knew about her before the engagement.
The whole notion of her ‘women’s empowerment’ drivel is laughable.

LaMarschallin · 14/01/2020 21:14

kinsss

Once the Sunday papers (Red Tops) are done with this the coming weekend, it's finished.

Good oh.

I can see why you're relieved.
It'll free up a lot of your time when you don't have to keep up with all the stories about it on the threads here.

crispysausagerolls · 14/01/2020 21:15

I actually don’t think people would give a flying fuck what came out in an interview. It would just make Meghan and Harry look like the arseholes they are.

If the RF could survive Prince Andrew’s interview, you have to think it could survive anything.

I wish the DM would publish the grilling video.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 14/01/2020 21:16

The best thing about “Suits” was the clothes, they were absolutely exquisite.

I have to second this, the wardrobe was first class. Gina Torres aka (Jessica pearson) and Sarah Rafferty (donna) were dressed to perfection. To be fair so was Meghan. They dressed everyone in a way that flattered their figures. Katherine Heigl looked the best she has in any program and I wish she'd joined the series earlier.

(I wish to god I could draft patterns and sew clothes to fit my dimensions properly. But I can barely do an easy New Look pattern!)

BillieEilish · 14/01/2020 21:17

She decided, IMO, before she got married, that she was to be victimised by the press.

She gave her life here a pathetic amount of time for bad press that really didn't merit giving it all up so soon.

Also, she has Archie now. As Nigella Smile said 'you are no longer the picture, merely the frame'

I would be thrilled that my son at least had such an amazing start in life.

America? Not so much.

notmoresheep · 14/01/2020 21:18

President HRH Sussex? well I suppose that’s one way to get the pesky colony back under Royal control 😂😂.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 14/01/2020 21:19

Someone should post a link to the burger video on their Instagram.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 14/01/2020 21:19

No mention of Oprah but reads, to me anyway, as a bit of a veiled threat.

Certainly sounds it to me.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 14/01/2020 21:21

So Tom Bradby who is supposed to be a serious journalist is now issuing proxy threats to the RF on behalf of his pal Harry. What have things come to?

BillieEilish · 14/01/2020 21:21

Someone should send it to the DM.

I would laugh my socks off Grin

I imagine they have it. They had the Disney one!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 14/01/2020 21:23

That grilling video may be a bit tacky but so what. It was a job plenty of Oscar winning actors/actresses have made worse or appeared completely starkers/done raunchy love scenes in movies.
Doesn't mean you cannot have feminist ideals, as I thought the whole point of feminism is a woman can do what they want?

Some may scoff about the hypothetical idea of Meghan wanting to run for President one day. 20 years ago the mere suggestion that Donald Trump could be President would get you laughed out of the room.
20 years before that the idea of a black President would get you laughed out of the room.

Finally according to the NY Times in the 2016 Presidential election Hillary Clinton got 48 % of the vote compared to Trumps 45.9%. So if the result of the election was decided on number of votes in the US then we'd have a female President.
Yet we don't because the Electoral College system decides ultimately who wins.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 14/01/2020 21:23

@scaryteacher

Last time I looked, being in the military is a job...at least it was for df, dfil, dh, and is for db and dn.
Please accept my sincere apologies. I worded that extremely badly and you are quite right. I actually regard being in the military as an extremely worthy career and I did not mean to denigrate it in any way.

I was actually trying to separate that worthy career from it just being a job (and worded it badly) as I regard it as so much more than a job.

I also apologise to anyone else who I inadvertently offended too.

peridito · 14/01/2020 21:24

Sorry ,what reads like a veiled threat ? Apologies if I've missed something!

BillieEilish · 14/01/2020 21:25

It wasn't a 'bit tacky' it was out and out sexist which is fine, but not for someone who purports to champion women's rights

She is also not an Oscar winner, she was on the equivalent of 'Silent Witness'

Andylion · 14/01/2020 21:28

To the pps who have referred to Meghan not liking being in the second row on the balcony, are you talking about a specific appearance of just in general?

crispysausagerolls · 14/01/2020 21:29

As Nigella said 'you are no longer the picture, merely the frame'

I have never heard this - it’s wonderful!

MissEliza · 14/01/2020 21:30

She would eat herself if she could GrinGrinGrin
