Harry and Meghan resigning Act 4: the Price of Freedom.....?

So the saga continues
Thé Canadians are not happy about paying for the Sussexes security

I think that will be their downfall. They can’t actually fund the cost of their «freedom»
Other security experts saying that the cost of 24/7 private security is about £4million per year.

Problem is; they have skipped the a Royal fold, and have to pay the real cost of their security and accommodation . They will have to sell every aspect of their Lives to fund this.

I wish there was some way to get them to work in a call centre for a few months while living in a flat in Stoke Newington and getting their shopping delivered from Asda, which they'd have to budget for. Truly normal, humdrum life to show them how privileged theirs is now (no offence intended to anyone who does any of the above things).

SunsetBoulevard3 · 14/01/2020 18:25

Does no one remember anything? It was a security issue. He was in Iraq. He wanted to stay in the Army but was not given the option.

caperberries · 14/01/2020 18:27

What did Serena’s husband say? Is there a link?

TheMustressMhor · 14/01/2020 18:27

Wow ButteryMuffin that would truly open their eyes.

blinkingowl · 14/01/2020 18:28

You're being ridiculous.

Yes I probably am, just ignore me.

MrsBrentford · 14/01/2020 18:29

@caperberries

About 5 threads ago - yes Grin

Weedsnseeds1 · 14/01/2020 18:31

If they went down the route of flogging branded products, what would they sell them off the back of?
If you go to Buckingham Palace or the Natural History Museum, you buy yourself a tea towel or a pencil as a souvenir, you go on holiday and come back with a fridge magnet or something as a memory, but what do you get in return for a Sussex Royal mug?
These kind of trinkets serve as a kind of "proof" that you went somewhere, it's not the sort of thing you buy because you need a new sweatshirt or set of place mats, you go to a normal shop for that.
But there's no physical ace to associate with the suggested Sussex products?

TheMustressMhor · 14/01/2020 18:32

@blinkingowl

You only seem to have commented on these Meghan/Harry threads. There's no posting history prior to that.

MrsBrentford · 14/01/2020 18:33

In two years a lot of good PR has unraveled very quickly for PH.

I remember him trekking across the artic with the wounded soldiers and thinking he was great.

Now he is looking like a hen pecked/controlled/pussy whipped idiot.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/01/2020 18:34

I assume it’s a US PR agency they are using? Won’t translate well over here.

diddl · 14/01/2020 18:34

"Does no one remember anything? It was a security issue."

I thought that it was later than that that he left.

I would have thought that if he had really wanted to stay in then ways could have been found.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 14/01/2020 18:35

If I was paranoid, which of course I am not, I might think that someone had name changed specifically to derail the thread by hoping to kick off a nonsensical discussion about imaginary babies. Maybe even get people moaning about a baby which would of course get the thread deleted.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 14/01/2020 18:36

He's absolutely desperate to make his marriage work. It's like trying to keep ice cream frozen in the desert. He's exhausted by the effort and I think the poor man is really struggling. He would never have treated his family as he has by releasing that statement without warning if he was in his right mind. He's been pressurised 24/7 I would guess. He's also been left to face the music whilst she shoots off back to her friends.

TheMustressMhor · 14/01/2020 18:37

I am glad you're not paranoid WendyMoiraAngelaDarling.

Obviously nobody would go to that much trouble just to derail a thread and have it deleted.

OVienna · 14/01/2020 18:38

As an aside- and this is admittedly really tangential - I wonder to what extent this couple's whole USP depends not so much on being members of the Royal Family but as deeply anti-establishment figures. So, in the US they are basically a super attractive counterpoint to the Jared and Ivanka show. I can tell you, as an Anglo- Yank this was MY reaction when they pitched up in 2017. Hoo-ray for Henry! and his lovely bride. Fucking delighted.

If they can get the Democratic nomination right, it will stir A LOT of enthusiasm in the circles it seems that M&H might want to cultivate for support. Biden has said he will offer Kamala Harris "whatever she wants" if he gets the nomination, including the VP role. I like their chances against Trump. It's the first time I have been enthusiastic about the race. I think there is hope.

It seems unimaginable to me - ridiculous even to contemplate - that in this environment the Sussex Foundation would be the target of much interest and/or largesse. Particularly stripped of their titles/in a downgraded RF role. They may find Oprah is quite booked up for the foreseeable.

It's hard to think of worse timing for this move.

OVienna · 14/01/2020 18:39

Yes, I know they are supposedly going to CANADA.

astralweaks · 14/01/2020 18:39

I thought the thread had been removed. Instead...well, here you are. Good!

FromEden · 14/01/2020 18:40

What did Serena’s husband say? Is there a link?

Maybe it's this which people are saying is about MM. I dont think so, he seems to be referring to the tech industry

"Over the course of your career, you'll encounter people who use strategic sycophancy in order to level themselves up, rather than, say, doing great work.

Some will hit their inevitable ceiling early, but others will actually continue to thrive. You will start to wonder if it'll ever catch up with them, but I've convinced myself that in the long-term, it's just not sustainable for them. Eventually enough people will see them for who they really are--charlatans"

Unimaginable.

It would all have been for nought.

MrsBrentford · 14/01/2020 18:41

@FromEden

Unfortunate timing Grin

zafferana · 14/01/2020 18:42

This makes quite interesting reading narcsite.com/2018/05/17/a-very-royal-narcissist/

crispysausagerolls · 14/01/2020 18:46

@PaperFlowers4

Oh my! That video is wild

AlexaAmbidextra · 14/01/2020 18:47

Maybe they want to be an ordinary family

😂😂😂

CathyorClaire · 14/01/2020 18:49

I went off Harry when I saw the appalling way he treated his polo ponies

The water buffalo came off even worse. Both Haz and Wills are keen live target shooters. So much for conservation, eh?

fallen121 · 14/01/2020 18:52

Reading the Vancouver Sun. Apparently the luxury pad they are staying at is owned by a mystery Russian businessman.

I know they're a bit strapped for cash at the moment and relying on handouts but is this really wise?
