Planning an 'indoor street party' in a hall...east coast scotland in April...the sun could shine or it could snow!!

We're having a street party - I'm rather looking forward to it as there's lots of families with similar aged/slightly older kids down the road who I don't know at all.

Will provide cake and large plastic toys for kids to play with. I hear one guy is trying to get a street band together!

Apparently the general response was 'couldn't give a toss about the wedding but any excuse for a party'!

I am having a house party and the dress code is compulsory wedding hats, fascinators or tiaras/veils.

Everyone has to bring a bottle and a buffet item, either William or Kate-based. William buffet items are things like coronation chicken, egg and cress sandwiches, celery or boiled eggs filled with Primula, pineapple and cheese hedgehogs, etc.
Kate items are humous, Tapas, dips, crudities etc.

We will have a Tv in every room to watch the wedding then party from 1pm going into garden if weather ok. Karaoke later then Party til we pass out.

We were going to be away till that night but 8yo niece has gone mad organising a BBQ and party. She is making invitations as I type so we're coming back a day early.

Actually it's my mum's 70th, so we're celebrating that instead.

We are having a garden party (if the weather permits), not really a royalist myself but my 6 year old dd is very excited, to her it is a real life fairy tale so want to make the day extra special.

At my dd school they are having their very own mock royal wedding in the chruch which is attached to the school. We are all invited and the dress code is formal wear, cant wait.

I'd say a bouncy castle would be perfect ! - And really make it memorable for the children. After all castles and palaces are very fitting for the occasion aren't they ?

going to work as usual-emergency services don't stop for the royals

Going to Ashford in Kent on the Thursday night and getting the hell out of England on Friday morning.

Christmas present from my parents was all expenses paid trip to Paris, with them having the DCs.

So we picked that weekend to go.

Back on the Monday afternoon.

Wedding? What wedding?

I'm a hypocritical republican, and having a party.

I half suggested a garden party at mine, on a night out with the girls, and they all jumped at it. It'll be starting mid-afternoon with silly games and cucumber sandwiches.

Not planning on watching the wedding, as I'll be preparing for garden party.

I'll be taking dd to the town 'street' party being held in the school yard. Definitely hypocritical as I'm born & bred republican but I just blame my parents . . . I remember my mum & dad moaning endlessly about the fuss over Charles & Di & the evils of the monarchy, and then we all went to the village party & I won a comemmorative tin of toffees, not only that but my dad even helped with the street decorations for the Silver jubilee

Now trying to think of suitably retro finger food to take along - was thinking iced gems, cheese & pineapple on sticks, and those choc marshmallow teacakes but any other suggestions welcome.

Well, I have bought a new outfit and hat for the occasion and will be watching it in my sitting room which will be deocrated with Union Jacks. A champagne breakfast will be served to toast the happy couple!

We are having a street party :) Bouncy castle is provisionally booked, we need to see how many people are willing to dip into their pockets - we have an option on one that will take adults/teens so that should persuade a few more than just the parents of tiddlers! As we are using the piece of communal green outside some of our road, we had to get council approval but they were pretty easy going. I need to send my risk assessment form to him (should be doing that now not MNing!), public liability insurance cert and the PIPA number from the bouncy castle.

The man from the council said they were treating this round of street parties as a practice run for next year - they are anticipating a wave of Olympic street parties.
