Happy Hallowe'en everyone!
Just picking up on someone's comment in the last thread about being surprised that Summer, the little tabby kitten, still has no home.
The main issue is that she and her siblings were never really "in rescue". The mum turned up stray in someone's garden and I went to scan her for a microchip as a charity volunteer. But the situation became a bit complicated because she did have a chip, but the details weren't up to date. It turned out that she'd been abandoned and the couple who'd taken her in were happy to adopt her. So no need to take the cat into rescue, especially when the charities were all so overstretched post kitten season.
About four weeks later, I visited them and realised that mum cat was clearly pregnant - and the four kittens arrived the next day! They did an amazing job of fostering the kittens till they were weaned, but they had a very small flat and couldn't realistically keep all four beyond that.
The charity got mum cat spayed and the couple have adopted one of the kittens alongside mum cat. Two of the kittens were found forever homes (both kind of through the charity via me). But the fourth kitten hasn't got a home yet and I've failed to find an adopter so far. The charity has enough cats already on their books to re-home (and many, many kittens), so I'm trying to find a home for this little one separately.
I hope I manage to find her a home soon... She is a great kitten. So playful and funny, but also has a huge purr and loves cuddles and strokes. She will make someone so happy, and I can't believe she's the last of the litter to find a home!
