Am going to apply for higher rate benefits now I've had a stroke. Need a lot of help.

Still can't believe it's happened. Oh well.......

That sounds like a very good idea.

Sounds sensible to me.

The cats are NOT enjoying the heat.
Lenny just briefly looked up at me - and immediately returned to 'melted' status. It's the most action I've seen from him today 😻

Yes. It's worth a try.

And was just sitting down with a nice cuppa when Linney decided to have a massive shit😛, so I abandoned my coffee to deal with the litter tray.
Oh well. At least I used the zimmer frame to get things dealt with.

Argh had to go back to hospital last night. Developed chest pain so dialled 999.

However it wasn't a heart attack (thankfully) but costochondritis.
Very painful but not dangerous.
Going home again in the morning

Is that more or less annoying than sex with your duvet cover?

Less, because on my duvet covers, the bugger sticks his claws into them, which makes holes, obviously.

He can't really make holes in my dressing gown although he leaves erm...... "deposits"

I'll leave you all to figure out what I mean by that

If necessary I'm sure Grumpy can explain..........
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

That photo of Kitty is perfectly disapproving!

I went out into the garden to work this morning. Lex, who has shown no interest in outdoors for at least 6 years, decided to join me. He had a lovely slow wander round the garden, exploring various things, tasting some grass, and generally pottering. At one point I even thought he was going for a dip in the paddling pool.

How lovely for Lex, @RumNotRun!

Kitty was watching me playing with her ball track & considering whether to come down & join in.

A gentle reminder that I'm in my 60s - I'm no longer a 16 year old. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sybil shares Kitty's disapproval btw.

Allergictoironing · 25/06/2026 09:02

Girlcat is being very disapproving of me in the mornings these days. Mix of poor sleep due to hot weather, bad back having good & bad days, general tiredness due to working hard & the above reasons, all mean on work days I could be getting up at any time between 5am and 6:30. I can then take anything between 1.5 and 2.5 hours to get up, painkillered to the hilt, sort lunch, get physically moving etc.

Which means she doesn't know when to come & pester me for before work treats & strokes, anything between about 7:30 and 9:30. Girlcat is a creature of routine. Tobias really doesn't care as long as he gets his chicken before I leave the house.

You bloody aren't!!!
Does your HA liaise with whoever is responsible, to sort out extra help for you?

ShoutyCatSlave · 25/06/2026 14:56

I had a power cut for over 12 hours yesterday. Still not "properly" repaired, but we have had power mostly continuously since 4am. I know the time because everything blinked, bleeped, squawked, flashed and generally made a din at the same time. That, plus the jack-hammer outside from midnight led to a hot, sweaty, broken night of sleep. Agatha is not happy. She's flopping around everywhere like a distressed fish. Although, today has a stiff breeze going. I sat outside in the shade earlier and it was pleasant, even at 36⁰. It's a less-nice 30⁰ with no breeze inside. Agatha has stayed out. Clever girl.

Pudmyboy · 25/06/2026 21:16

My garden has a fair bit of shade so the neighbour's two beautiful black cats keep coming over to flop in the shade. They are very welcome!

EmpressaurusKitty · 25/06/2026 21:25

Our balcony actually has a cool breeze at the moment.

RumNotRun · 25/06/2026 22:26

Toad was lying lengthwise across the kitchen window with his right side limbs dangling. I went into the kitchen to close the window - no Toad, just pitiful crying from outside! I had to go out and bring him in.
Raven, who has never wanted to go outside, suddenly appeared while I was in the garden. She casually wandered around, shouting at me, and sampling the vegetation. I put her back inside, and she reappeared. The cat flap (installed between the kitchen and utility in the hope I could keep the door closed in the winter as the utility/litter room gets freezing) has never been used as the cats flatly refuse to use it. Until today.

If it wasn't for Ghost who is v fast and will quickly jump the gRden walls, then I'd leave the back door open. Unfortunately the diagonally opposite house/garden has an extremely aggressive rottweiler and their garden is not very secure. I don't feel that Ghost would be safe from the dog.

EmpressaurusKitty · 26/06/2026 02:54

Is there any risk of Ghost using the catflap?

Melted Kitty.

Kitty looks very melted.

Not sure on the cat flap and Ghost. I would have said there was no risk of any of them using it but they have proven me wrong!

Pianoaholic · 27/06/2026 07:46

Herbie hasn't quite melted in the heat yet, but has stupidly insisted on lying in the hottest part of the house (conservatory) sometimes.
I have been picking him up and moving him to the front garden where it is more shaded.
My Glastonbury concert went ahead on Thursday!! I was dripping in sweat but made it through my 40 minute programme. My son also did a sax solo in a concert on Tuesday night which I accompanied him in. Also a very sweaty experience.
Guess the show must go on, but so many other things (school!) have been cancelled.

EmpressaurusKitty · 27/06/2026 08:01

That’s fabulous @Pianoaholic, well done!!!

I’m out on the balcony having coffee with Kitty. 26 here at the moment & her catnip is flourishing.

How awesome! What a wonderful bonding time ❤

The Stray is also hiding in the conservatory but she is finding shade in the furniture shadows, plus it is tiled. Unfortunately we can't have windows or doors open and I feel incredibly sad that she can't be outside under a bush cooling down. But the good news is that the house is sold, now I need to find my next one. Fingers crossed I find one soon. Anything good is either on a main road or nowhere near a bus route grrr
