Fantastic news @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne - I wonder if the cats will arrange a welcome home party?

Welcome home @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

Linney, Gizmo and your DC can take over now. ❤️

Pudmyboy · 22/06/2026 15:55

Oh bless Broon !
Hospitals tend to be grim albeit essential places.
But so much better for you to recover at home, when you can sleep without the night staff chattering away and the lights either permanently on, or switched on and off every few minutes. Plus the food you like, tea or coffee made the way you like it, and most of all, the kitties!

Just been catching up with the thread.
Glad to hear you're a bit better @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

We are having a major thunderstorm and it's really windy, quite spooky really, it is very dark outside and windy. Like a monsoon.
Herbie is safe inside.

Hope all cats and their owners are coping.

ShoutyCatSlave · 22/06/2026 18:12

So pleased to hear you're home, Broon. Take it easy and don't try to do too much, too soon. Scritches and opening food excepted, obvs. 😉

Seriously jealous. Bloody boiling here, and tomorrow's heat warning for this area has been upgraded to red. Actually glad I work in the office, as the air con seems to be working somewhat at present.

HumanToCatBeasties · 22/06/2026 21:04

Very glad you're back home @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Enjoy the cat greetings, I'm sure they've been missing you.

We had a bit of the storm too, some rain and thunder. It was lovely. I went and stood out in the rain in the garden to cool down. It started to feel quite pleasant inside with the windows open but sadly it's back to being muggy.

I have bought a cooling blanket from Amazon which has had good reviews so fingers crossed it'll be decent!

On a cat note, Frank has been weeing upstairs for a week or so, I think he just can't be bothered to go downstairs at night to use the litter tray. However this evening he did a wee where he has been sleeping. It was definitely not a wee in his sleep and there was no sign of anything worrying like blood, but I'm going to keep an eye on him. I haven't noticed him having any issues when he's used the trays downstairs, and having had a cat with terrible UTIs, I think I am quite vigilant for this kind of stuff. I'm hoping he just was being even more lazy due to the heat but any more issues and he'll be off to the vet. Right at the end of the month, typical! They always like to need a vet trip on the weekend/bank holiday/just before payday!!

We had a storm last night thank goodness. Well I say "a" storm, we had about 3 following each other in reasonably quick succession. Thunder, lightning, torrential rain the lot off and on from about 1:30am until about 3:30.

EmpressaurusKitty · 23/06/2026 08:22

I was woken around 3.45 by massive thunder & lots of lightning. It must have lasted nearly an hour, every time I thought it was over it came back again. Rain & hot sun now.

Kitty had to be placated with Dreamies.

We had the same starting at about 3.30.

Cats are all dramatically flopping about and complaining about the heat.

CatsonPollock · 23/06/2026 08:41

Same here for the thunder storm started about 3.40am.

Our cats are kept in overnight but I was still worried that the thunder, lightning flashes and rain battering down on our velux windows would affect Mini Pollock who is very scared of fireworks and any unexpected noises. She seems OK this morning and ate all her breakfast which is a relief.

Mama Pollock couldn't give a toss! 😹

EmpressaurusKitty · 23/06/2026 09:46

Kitty’s not at all sure what to make of it. It’s sunny so she should be able to go out, but it’s raining so she doesn’t want to. She’s sulking in her eyrie.

I was woken by the storm overnight, too. I live in a valley / bowl (not too far from Grumpy, I think - Home Counties, near the Thames), and it seemed to hang around for ages, counting between 5 and 8 seconds between flash and sound. Agatha doesn't care. She stayed out all night, then came in soggy at about 5, wanting me to dry her. I declined, so she sat on me instead, and dried herself on my bedsheet. Sigh.

JoanOgden · 23/06/2026 12:52

Joancat, who can hear the Dreamies tin opening at 20 metres away and legs it to hide under my bed at the sound of the doorbell, is totally unbothered by thunder and fireworks (fortunately).

Hope you're doing OK, Broon.
