She’s gone for her second stage dental. The plan is to take all her teeth out. As long as they don’t cause trauma getting them out. I think they are bothering her. So fingers crossed she feels better.

Oh, poor Pen.

Bossyboo · 17/11/2025 13:01

Ahh paws crossed here x

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2025 15:47

She’s still in theatre. I have to leave for work at 6.30. So they need to hurry up!

Sending best wishes!

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2025 18:17

She’s had all her teeth out. But had a lot of stiches in her mouth. It took longer than expected which is less than ideal as I’m working tonight, and have no one to cat sit her. So I’ve set up camp in the lounge and will put the camera on her. I can be home in 10 min if needed. The vet does t have 24 hour care. Or I’d leave her here. But she’s better off at home I think.

Aww, poor Pen - I hope she heals well.

LuerLock · 17/11/2025 18:28

Aw, that is a worry but sounds like your kittycam will be helpful. Best wishes for Penelope!

66babe · 17/11/2025 18:54

Awww poor wee thing , they’ll have given her some pain relief and yes I agree being at home in the quiet will hopefully just let her sleep it all off .

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2025 22:42

So she was surprisingly bright and alert when I picked her up. Although she stinks of dried blood! Her mouth is obviously feeling very odd. She was not staying in one room. She met me fuss her but really just wanted to be left alone. I’ve left kitty cam on but. It seen her yet. She likes to sleep on the stairs and it’s in the lounge. They said she had some reabsorption lesions, so must have been in pain with them.

Poor love. Wishing her a swift recovery. One of mine had most of her teeth out once and was back to hoovering up her food in no time.

tinyspiny · 17/11/2025 23:38

I hope she is feeling better in the morning @Toddlerteaplease

Davros · 17/11/2025 23:40

My mum’s cat had all her teeth taken out many years ago. She recovered quickly and had no difficultly eating even hard food. Wishing Pen all the best, she’s gorgeous 🐾

ThelmaDinkley · 17/11/2025 23:40

Hope Penelope is feeling better soon x

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2025 23:41

Fingers crossed she has some food/cat milk and a good nights sleep. Even though they wanted her to stay longer, she was so awake that it wouldn’t have made any difference. Absolutely no way will she touch food at the vet anyway. Besides we discharge kids who’ve had teeth out after an hour if they are recovered. So I was happy.

I don’t think people understand that as a nurse, just not coming in or being late is not an option!

Sending love, a friend's cat hat all his teeth out except one, and has been fine ever since!

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2025 23:50

Yes. I think it’s the best thing for her. I don’t think she’ll have an issue with hard food. On the odd occasions she’s sick it comes out the same as it went in.

Just seen her on kitty cam. Her mouth is obviously feeling very odd. But she looks fine.

Shevis clearly very suspicious as to why she’s been shut out of the bedroom
and her favourite carrier is out. 🤣 Last time she sat in it voluntarily I zipped her up and carted her off to the Lake District, so I can’t blame her.

She’s bright enough, but hasn’t eaten over anything. She’s had a good wee though. How long did it take for your cats to start eating. Her mouth is obviously feeling very strange.

CatChant · 18/11/2025 16:26

Hmm, it’s a long while ago but I don’t remember worrying that my girl wasn’t eating so there can’t have been much of a delay. She did tend to worship her tum though - legacy of a neglected kittenhood before she reached a rescue centre.

I hope poor Pen is back on form soon.

LostCats2 · 18/11/2025 17:20

Oh baby, I hope she feels better very soon

Toddlerteaplease · 18/11/2025 17:25

I’ve moved her vet check to 1.30 tomorrow instead of 7.30pm as I don’t want to
leave her that long. She’s subdued, and up and about just still not eating. She really wants the lik I lix but something is stopping her. She’s had two wees though.

My poor rescue cat had virtually all of her teeth out yesterday too! She ate a pouch of food shortly after coming round from the anaesthetic and in the evening insisted on her nightly walk with me.

I'm keeping a close eye and medicating her but she’s acting like it never happened!

hope your cat recovers quickly x
