At least he's actually a Scottish cat.

Gizmo is an English interloper, who only came to Scotland in order to get behind my bathroom cupboard.

Still not quite ready yet and if I go to the shelter I will want them all.

Goodness, yes. Before we got Linney and Emerald, I wanted all the cats on the Cats Protection site. Even the ones who lived 300 miles away.

I chose Linney and Emerald because nobody else was showing any interest. They were quite old, and there was a notice under their pictures saying that Linney had a heart murmur and his insurance would be expensive.

So that decided me.

The new tent has arrived and been rejected by Lex. I also got two new snazzy scratching pads for them which were thoroughly tested when I put them down on the floor. Now that I have put the pads on the wall, they have of course been ignored. I did take Toad to the sunflower pad and showed him he can scratch it but he ran off.

Maybe he thinks it's too pretty to scratch!

It's reminiscent of Van Gogh's sunflowers (is it meant to be?) if he had included a black cat!

Oh dear, I accidentally put H's reading glasses on the top of a bag of his clothes.

Unfortunately I forgot to put them in their case......

Kitty’s been working very hard with the Ouija board, @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne, and as far as I can make out she’s summoned a QCDNOROJI from outer space - & she hasn’t finished yet so I don’t envy your H.

Well actually............DS2 grabbed the bags very roughly and was swinging them carelessly, so maybe the spectacles got accidentally damaged.

That's DS2 all over. But he didn't know about the specs.

And neither did H. He hadn't actually asked for them. I just found them and thought "oh dear, X forgot about his reading glasses. I'll just put them carefully into this bag for him".

He'll find them eventually, but they may not be in one piece by that time. How very unfortunate.

I have a book called The Artful cat, which is versions of famous paintings with added cat influences. The scratching pad put me in mind of it @RumNotRun so I dug it out and here is the cover.
I think Herbie has referenced it as he still loves to scratch my chair!

That is the new tent. It's a bit smaller than the old one so I think Lex is probably hoping that Toad won't try to squeeze in!

Okay, I've done something awful.
H has (or rather had) various fairly expensive items in the bathroom.
Most of them were bought in bulk to save money.

He left over ten days ago, freely and not under police escort, so could have taken them with him (or returned for them).
He has not contacted you regarding his possessions. You are not a mindreader.
He has adult children nearby who could have facilitated the handover if he was afraid of repercussions of his cowardly action.
His name is no longer on the lease and therefore he shouldn't legally have anything there without the leaseholders (yours) permission.

See where I'm going with this? The onus is on him, your place is a home and not a storage unit 😠

No, not for routine stuff. You can request a home visit but it's extremely expensive.

However, another friend has told me never to worry about getting any of the cats to the vet's. (that's Linney & Gizmo and DD2's cats, Sebastian and Cleo). She promised to come anytime. She has several animals herself, including a cat who (inevitably) sleeps on her bed.

In fact, the only possessions of his which I need to take to the charity shop now are books.

DS2 and DD2 came round and gave me a hand with stuff. It's literally just the books now. The shop is only round the corner.
