Scottish Tourism - the Excellent Cats debate Gizmo's suitability as a top influencer

Yeah, right.

Linney is more suitable.

At least he's actually a Scottish cat.

Gizmo is an English interloper, who only came to Scotland in order to get behind my bathroom cupboard.

If I had kittens I might be tempted 😸

Who needs a cat tree when you can have a cat food tower. (On sale ar Zooplus this week)

Again!

Grumpy, you and Mrs G keep Zooplus in business, I'm sure.

Caught in the act.
Gizmo finally managed to get into the drawer under my bed.

Edited

Did he go to the next level & get through the back of the drawer?

I haven’t lost a cat in that space yet.

Kitty gave the extended tree her approval, but then flaked out next to me for the rest of the evening.

🤣

Worryingly a box of 80 pouches only lasts about a week now 😲. The boys (and girl) have clearly noticed that pouch size is now 85g rather than 100g so are demanding more pouches with menaces. We get through 10 to 12 a day on average.

I've stocked up with about 250 of the 15g Lick-e-lix as well. I think Sybil would go on strike if I didn't continue to feed her habit 🤣.

Might be worth trying one of the myriad of different brands that have sprung up on the market recently, most are a bit cheaper than the originals. I've started to get the Churu ones from Amazon, £20 for a box of 40 as my cats love them even more than lik-e-lix, but even Pets at Home have their own brand now.

What would Sybil go on strike from?

Herbie would strike from visiting the neighbours. Gizmo would strike from going up and doon & roond & roond. Finlay would strike from roaming. Kitty would strike from using her cat tree & Stripey & Snowcat would strike from having adventures with their catflap.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/10/2025 09:32

Did he go to the next level & get through the back of the drawer?

Yes, he did.

I'd got to the point of wondering What To Do if he didn't re-emerge, when some scrabbling signalled that he had figured it out.

I decided that pulling my emergency cord would be a step too far. Mind you, it wouldn't surprise me if some people do pull them for random reasons, other than having fallen over.

That sounds like Empressaurus believes that Sybil does nothing all day.

Sybil looks like she's claiming that lot and saying 'this is mine!'.
I got Herbie some Purina sachets for a change. He likes them (no surprise there) but they don't fill him up much and they seem quite liquidy.

Pianoaholic · 26/10/2025 10:39

Oh, and @EmpressaurusKitty Herbie isn't visiting the neighbours any more! (Thank God, as I didn't fancy explaining that saga to the vet next week when he has his health check!).
Now it's colder they have stopped leaving the back door slightly open but have put a nappy on their elderly dog at night!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/10/2025 12:34

What would Sybil go on strike from?
Endless loud purring?
Stealing our breakfasts?
Taking up a massive amount of space (for a little cat) on our bed at night?
Claiming food mountains as her own?
Shedding grey fluff everywhere?

Actually I can't see any disadvantage for us at all 🤣

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/10/2025 12:45

On a not cat related topic - I've been singing the services as part of a visiting choir at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle this weekend. Slightly concerned when we were directed to the robing room. 🤣

I bought a couple of different, cheaper brands, and Linney looked at my in dismay, then walked off.

Gizmo ate one of them, then refused to try any of the others.

I gave them to the charity shop. The Churu Pops, not Linney and Gizmo.

Martha's Lick-e-lix was rejected here but Aldi went down Ok
Horrible weather here so an excuse to deep clean the house.
Never thought I would miss vacuuming up cat fur but I do. Still waking at 5am expecting the cat to come for a cuddle.

We have said we will look in the new year.

Pianoaholic · 26/10/2025 16:37

That will be something to look forward to. Of course you must miss Breadcat very much.

Breadcat24 · 26/10/2025 16:52

I do look forward to it - we are discussing having 2! But I dare not look on rescue sites yet

We waited just over a year - probably too long in hindsight but at first it felt almost like some kind of betrayal even thinking about getting new cat/s.

We ended up with a rescue mum and her only surviving kitten. (Other was still born 😿)

The cat distribution centre will do its work when you're ready... Happy days to come 😽

That must be a huge relief @Pianoaholic!

@Breadcat24, any rescues adopted by you are going to be really lucky.

RumNotRun · 26/10/2025 18:21

@Breadcat24 shhh, don't let Grumpy see that you'll soon be looking for a new cat. You'll get a ginger TC sent to you!

EmpressaurusKitty · 26/10/2025 18:29

If you’re anywhere near London @Breadcat24, PM me when you start looking & I’ll send you the details of the rescue I’m involved with, where Kitty came from.

9/10 camouflage.

Oak is his ideal background.

Well I'm glad that Mr. Benny is okay, and that you avoided the dreaded vet bill this time @coastergirl

How's your DS getting on?

Still not great 😔 but thank you for remembering and asking 🥰 I had to pick him up halfway through a school trip on Tuesday. I'd arranged to be in Liverpool so I was close by just in case, but I didn't really think it would be necessary. He's a bit more relaxed now school has finished but he still has an extremely short fuse.

On the subject of cat treats, my boys have never been particularly bothered but they LOVE cat lollipops.

Breadcat24 · 26/10/2025 22:05

@EmpressaurusKitty Thank you. In Yorkshire but would travel. We have had a lot of people offering us cats locally - I do not know why- but might end up with dozens
