Scottish Tourism - the Excellent Cats debate Gizmo's suitability as a top influencer

Yeah, right.

Linney is more suitable.

At least he's actually a Scottish cat.

Gizmo is an English interloper, who only came to Scotland in order to get behind my bathroom cupboard.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne in preparation for having to disclose assets in a divorce? In which case you being able to prove that he did will help. Or to cover hotel/living expenses? Or maybe treating himself / someone else to gifts/trips?

A number of reasons really 🤔 who knows how his mind is working!

Esgaroth · 22/10/2025 10:50

Very mysterious. It'll all come out in the wash I suppose - was that 790 quid that you had some claim to, post divorce? If not fuck him, let him buy whatever silly nonsense he likes.

Our local FB page is mainly complaining about other people's driving/parking and posts about loose dogs and missing cats but there is something I find endlessly entertaining about the pettiness of local chat. Probably nobody here has ever read The Framley Examiner (spoof local newspaper) but it is one of my favourite things ever. www.framleyexaminer.com

Framley's traditional favourite since 1978

Do you mean he was logging into your FB account, even after you left???

Yes, but that was because he didn't realise that it was my FB account, because it was on his phone.

He wouldn't have understood about the phones being synched.

He really is a techno-fuckwit.
And that probably explains why he's been withdrawing cash. In his mind, if he uses the bank cards to pay for things, he won't know how to keep tabs on it all. He'd never be able to use a banking app.

Also - it won't have ended with the £790. That's only the amount I was able to see, because the statement only went up to October 2nd. I'm 100% sure that he'll still be taking out cash.

But I guess he's using it for petrol, food and other expenses.

Ha ha ha he'll have to equip a whole new house now. He's been rehoused but it's unfurnished.

Wanker.

So he’ll have no idea how to set up direct debits for bills or to check what’s going in & out then.

Allergictoironing · 22/10/2025 14:14

Bless, poor old man 😆. I assume he also won't know how to do washing, cleaning, cooking or any of the "women's work" about his new home?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 22/10/2025 14:27

He's actually very good at housework and cooking.
We always shared it equally.

It's technology which confounds him.

So no online orders, just what he can buy locally? Or do you think your DCs will sort it all out for him?

There's a big Co-Op and a small Tesco's in the village he's moved to.
He'll just use them, I think.
He's got the car so it's not difficult for him.

Tosser.

And on the subject of housework, I'm already fed up of doing the hoovering and mopping the floors. Floors were his province.

Don't get me started on the bins, either. Or the washing up. He did all the washing up.

🤣🤣🤣

I could do with some advice though.

Are any of you good at gardening?
Ex was really interested, and he had loads of plant pots in the front garden.
He worked hard on the garden and it looked lovely, but I don't know what to do.

It's already starting to look untidy, and I don't do untidy.

Edited

At least there will be a maximum of half the rubbish and dirt now he's gone 😀

Also less washing up!

Allergictoironing · 22/10/2025 18:59

Ooh yes, and clothes washing. And the amount of time you've had to spend in the past to help him use his phone & access stuff on it.

ShoutyCatSlave · 22/10/2025 19:20

Sadly, I find Agatha the main culprit of bringing in dirt from outside. I'm not saying your ex deliberately went in and out all day long in the rain to walk on nice, clean floors and roll around on clean bedding to dry himself off, but if Gizmo and Linney do, your hoovering / mopping workload may not decrease..... I've learned to live with the dirt. Much easier than constant steam-moppage. 😉

There's actually a lot less than half.
A lot of the recycling is the cardboard boxes which are generated by the possession of cats.

Huh.

You're right about the washing. And I had the household admin under control for years, so any help for him would have been along the lines of finding plants and bulbs online.

Well, in my case, his going means more washing up, because he did all of ours.

Dammit.
