Yeah, right.

Linney is more suitable.

At least he's actually a Scottish cat.

Gizmo is an English interloper, who only came to Scotland in order to get behind my bathroom cupboard.

Tuna is Kettle's absolute favourite, so you can send it up to us.

It's OK.
Linney stuffed himself with it.

Devastated.

Um, @Esgaroth I hadn't actually thought of that till now (embarassed!)
And it's one of the favourite ever movies in our house.
Although when she was little, DD called it 'Rest of Cats' so that has kind of stuck.

Breadcat24 · 09/10/2025 12:16

@Esgaroth how is Kettle- is he still off his food

Esgaroth · 09/10/2025 12:21

@Esgaroth how is Kettle- is he still off his food

Yes.

(Although to be clear he is still eating all his food eventually - he is just not eating it immediately and with extreme gusto, as is his wont😄)

I think he'll pull through. Anyway it's off to the vets this afternoon to have the stitches out.

Esgaroth · 09/10/2025 11:59

Ah but she had a rough start in life. I'm sure her kittens were little aristocats, but she's been through some things.

That’s true.

I hope Kettle’s vet visit goes well.

Esgaroth · 09/10/2025 17:57

Well it was bad news. The vet said he definitely would have been in pain because the stitches hadn't done their job properly and it wasn't healed.

He had a shot of painkiller and is to report back tomorrow morning for restitching. Poor old cat, he has rubbish luck sometimes.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 09/10/2025 18:19

Oh @Esgaroth I'm sorry to hear that.
Poor old Kettle.
Give him a head scritch from me.

Ah, poor Kettle! What a trooper.
Hope the vet isn't going to charge you again!

I'm afraid we are a household where cats do get moved from seats at times. They usually stay curled on your lap though if you pick them up and plonk them straight down on yourself.

Prior to this I have been the boss of my chairs. I have designated cat spots that everyone understands and I move Cat One from that chair absolutely heartlessly.
The tail has defeated me, I think. I waited until she hopped down herself.
The only one of our cats who sits on a lap is Cat Three, who will sit on your lap if you are in Mr. Agent Of The Patriarchy’s spot on the couch. Everybody lies on me in bed though.

Pudmyboy · 09/10/2025 18:39

Oh poor Kettle! Tooth/gum pain is the worst, poor boy 😿
I hope the vet does a better job tomorrow and he heals properly very soon ❤

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/10/2025 18:56

Poor Kettle. Kitty & I send love, I hope the vet gets it right this time xx

Breadcat24 · 09/10/2025 19:37

Poor Kettle hope he gets better soon

RumNotRun · 09/10/2025 19:42

Poor Kettle, but at least it's nothing new or more serious. As a doctor ('s daughter) I prescribe extra scritches and lots of Lick-e-lix

Esgaroth · 09/10/2025 20:31

I've got some extra wet food in for him and going to have him off his biscuits until he gets the green light this time. The vet said he'd be fine to have biscuits but I can't help wondering if it wasn't such a good idea.

He'll be thrilled because he likes wet food better (he gets it every day normally but biscuits too).

Esgaroth · 09/10/2025 23:19

I bought him a new bed this afternoon to put on my desk, where he's been sleeping on an old woolly jumper. Thought I'd let him try it in his usual spot on the sofa to start with so he can get his scent on it.

How cosy does he look? 😻

Pianoaholic · 10/10/2025 13:33

Ah. He looks very cosy. Hope he is recovering.
Herbie has stayed out lo ger than usual a couple of times this week which has caused stress! Both times he returned home when.i was out looking round for him.
He is making an inspection of the kitchen worktop here, that's his excuse!
Quite blatantly, he got up there right in front of me-no shame!

Esgaroth · 10/10/2025 13:40

I think he's under anaesthetic being sewn up as we speak. It's a shame he has to go through it twice in a row but hopefully second time's the charm!

Trying to keep cats off worktops is an exercise in futility, isn't it? I haven't even tried. Mac used to sleep on the kitchen table, right next to where I sat, and I'd be stroking him while eating my tea. Dog and cat hair was considered a condiment in our house.

Mr. Kettle looks great in that!

How is he today?

To my sister's eternal disgust, Vix even has her own area on the worktop. It's right by the fridge and where I have my tea, coffee, kettle etc, so at least it's away from the food prep part. My sister is used to dogs so I don't think she quite comprehends that cats choose not to understand "no" and "down" 😁
