Send him off to Specsavers Broon.

Good idea. It's 100 miles away in Glasgow.

Maybe our cats are making us more stressed than we realise!!

Our husbands are quite capable of doing that.

Well, mine is.
Hmm

😂

I find it difficult to get my head around what it would be like living that remotely. I've just booked my Specsavers appointment and there are 3 branches within two and a half miles of my house. You must have to be far more organised than me for sorting out shopping. I'm sure it's lovely, but I'm not sure I could adapt.

Oh, you don't!
I've met you and you really don't.

I’d have guessed you were 62 at most.

Ooh!

Not 90, then?

The choir is actually for people with dementia and I'm conducting it at the moment.

The lady he mistook me for is definitely about 90 and has no taste in jumpers or blouses

You know, when we first moved here (from London) eight years ago, it did take me a while to adapt.

But we have a pharmacy, a dentist's, a post office, various ironmongery stores and a chiropodist. The chiropodist lives in Glasgow and comes to the village every Monday.

The optician comes once a fortnight from the next village.

It was a red letter day when Tesco's started home deliveries. That was about four months ago. We do have a Co-Op as well.

Shout out to the butcher from Paisley who now comes every Wednesday.
Fish is caught here and delivered daily.

Our medical services are excellent and the vet is 15 miles away.

We have our own fire engine and ambulance.

It's so peaceful here.

This is the view from DD2's window. That's Sebastian, basking in the sun.

Oh that view is absolutely beautiful when it isn't raining

My black cat has repurposed my compost sieve.

That view is amazing Broon, as is Sebastian. My back view is a car park, with some new houses being built in the background. I did get a chance to view my part of the city from my rooftop when the roofers were replacing my chimney, which I was quite excited about, but that's as good as views get around here.

Happy BCD from a strangely snuggly Frankenstein.

A neighbour came round earlier to see if I want another cat 😳 Apparently someone on the next road has died and left a 10yr old black cat. The relatives can't take him in as they have greyhounds, and all the rescue places are full or not responding. The relatives are going to the house each day to feed him but that's not sustainable (or fair on the cat). I think I may have persuaded my ex to have him though, I don't really want an 8th cat!

Girlcat has celebrated Black Cat Appreciation Day by silently throwing up on my brand new slippers - by brand new I mean put on for the first time about an hour before she vomited on them. I literally didn't hear a thing, just looked down & saw the "gift" she'd proffered. Good thing I adore her so much!

But of course you do.
It's impossible to have too few cats.

Just checking you noted that for the next Scotland run, Grumpy.

You raise a very valid point 🤣🤣🤣

RumNotRun · 18/08/2025 11:23

Wouldn't it be that it's impossible to have to many cats? Not that I am having an 8th!

Following Basil's example - Sybil is now helping me find the next parts to be packed.

My DS at one time had nine, five of their own plus four strays, reckon there was a sign at the end of their lane "stray cats very welcome here".

Thank you, Gabapentin.

Two mogs, waiting to be put in the car.

Gizmo was furious, as usual, but he definitely had less fight in him this time and he only managed to bite Pa Broon's arm once.

Linney, of course just let me pick him up, then walked into his carrier.

It's wonderful.

Gizmo made a vague attempt to stick his claws in the vet's arms, but it was very half-hearted.
He purred while she injected him with his vax.
His teeth are fine.

Linney had the bits of black oil cut out of his coat. He does love sitting in our neighbour's wheelchair house.

Picard on the top of the wheelchair house.
Linney sits inside it.
