Karl’s doing an excellent job of displaying his fangs and claws.

🤣🤣🤣

She looks like a female version of Gizmo.

I was thinking of Gizmo. Or maybe Snowcat & Stripey, though it sounds as if they’re getting the hang of their catflap.

Gizmo practicing helping me with the Song Sheets for the afternoon tea club.

It's obviously essential that a cat sleeps on them before the sheets are placed in their folders

Last September, I was fostering Kitty & the only one of her kittens who hadn’t yet been adopted. He was a big character & all over the place, she was quiet, played with him sometimes but mainly stayed in the background.

Then he was adopted. I came back from waving them off, Kitty looked out of the bed & winked at me.

And from then she came right out of her shell, and this time last year I was thinking ‘Fuck, what if someone wants to adopt her?’

So a year ago today, we made it official. 😻

Happy anniversary @EmpressaurusKitty and Kitty!

Thank you @RumNotRun!

I’m listening to a couple of blokes reminiscing about a stag do where half of them got arrested. Guess what it reminds me of.

Congratulations Empress and Kitty! She was clearly meant to be your cat.

CatsonPollock · 16/09/2025 09:35

Happy Gotcha Day Kitty and @EmpressaurusKitty!

We adopted a Mum and (her solo) kitten who were being fostered. Mama Pollock tolerates her 'kitten' (now 3.5yrs) but they do still play/zoom together (when she's not sleeping)

What lovely story. I didn't realise you had only got Kitty a year ago. Happy anniversary to both of you. Ours is coming up in a couple of weeks too.

I was thinking of Gizmo. Or maybe Snowcat & Stripey, though it sounds as if they’re getting the hang of their catflap.

Unfortunately there has been little progress with the catflap. It's getting harder with the weather changing too, as taping it open lets in quite a draft. I've tried spraying it with catnip, putting treats on the inside, putting tuna outside the catflap with some on the inside. They are just not greedy enough.

If I manage to close the back door when Snowcat is in the garden, she can get back in fine through the (taped open) catflap. However, she is now wise to this trick and runs back inside the house any time I go near the door.

My mum thinks I should try pushing them through to show them the hang of it, but I'm a bit concerned this might put them off for life!

Thank you! She arrived at the end of May but then I didn’t know she was staying.

There was a prospective adopter but she never got back to us, fortunately.

Esgaroth · 16/09/2025 15:26

I've just grounded Kettle for yowling at a tabby in our garden. Lucky he's such a greedy guts he came in when I rattled his biscuits at him.

I know cats generally sort these squabbles out without fighting and I do worry a bit that I'm ruining his rep by making him come away... but it's not worth the risk of injury I think as he needed stitches last time.

Tabby is currently lurking under the rhododendron.

EmpressaurusKitty · 16/09/2025 17:22

Definitely not worth it, Kettle’s had more than enough of that sort of thing!

Esgaroth · 16/09/2025 17:30

Of course butter wouldn't melt.

That's top yawning and stretching from Kitty: perhaps we need a gallery of spectacular yawns?
(Also love her knowing wink!)😻
