@OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon Thanks for asking. No Breadcat was an only cat as she hated other cats!
I am being asked to consider a long haired tabby called Shadow who has a sad story.
His owners were having work done on their house so they moved out and just left their 2 cats to fend for themselves! An ex neighbour started feeding him, then had his chip scanned and contacted them. They said they thought the cats could hunt! How do people behave? This was 6 months ago. No sign of the other cat. Ex neighbour has 2 cats who dislike this interloper. I have given her a crate full of food to feed him but think it is a bit soon for us to have another cat after Bready
Also it is by no means a given that the awful owners would transfer the chip

What is wrong with people?🤬🤬🤬

Pud wasn't very fangy

@Pudmyboy Pud was a star

Esgaroth · 05/09/2025 17:32

That's what happened to Kettle and his brother. Abandoned and then fed by neighbours until the rescue centre trapped them.

I quite understand you need time to grieve before you think about a new cat. Hope you're OK today 💐

Breadcat24 · 05/09/2025 17:33

@Esgaroth well kettle has fallen on his paws! where is his brother?

No idea! We were shown both of them but told they didn't really like each other so they could go to separate homes. We only wanted one cat...

I do feel a bit bad about it but I'm sure he's made someone else very happy.

Defiantly41 · 05/09/2025 18:04

@Breadcat24 I’m so sorry to hear your sad news. Tiny creatures leave a big hole in our lives when we lose them. She was such a beautiful girl.

you will know when the time is right for another, although I know a few of us have found that to be much quicker than we thought we were ready for - Ollie’s mum getting Shady for one, and Toddlerteaplease another.

in the meantime, we’re all thinking of you

Samscaff · 05/09/2025 18:08

Is my DH silly or what? (It’s the cat's birthday…)

What a beautiful cat, I love how half of her face is black and half is ginger. I hope your husbands off roasting a whole chicken so she can celebrate her birthday in style.😀

Pianoaholic · 05/09/2025 19:26

Did anyone see Larry the cat being let into 10 Downing St on the news?
At least he's not lost his position in the reshuffle!

Your DH is very sensible. Happy birthday, cat!

I spotted that - getting in Lammy's way as he walked in. 🤣

HumanToCatBeasties · 05/09/2025 20:16

I missed Larry getting in the way, I'll see if I can find it later. I watched a really interesting documentary on the cats of No 10 a few months ago, It was fascinating. I never would have thought of Thatcher as being a devoted cat owner, but apparently she was and Churchill adopted a stay street cat. I can't remember what it was called, but I'll have to try and find it again, although I'm sure someone on here will know what it was called.

Well, I think the Excellent Cats could give this lot a run for their money. 😁

And Happy 13th Birthday Samscaff Cat! 🥳

Well it's Ernie all the way for me!
(Also a long time since I read a Grauniad article I enjoyed, so thank you for that!)

coastergirl · 05/09/2025 21:04

@Breadcat24 you asked for photos of the excellent cats? I found Walter and Benny lying on the patio together this afternoon, not trying to hurt each other!

Re getting another cat, I think sometimes it happens sooner than you expect. Actually I had a friend lose her beloved dog, they were heartbroken and couldn't ever imagine having another. But soon she realised they just couldn't not have a dog in the house. Of course, first dog wasn't replaced, and their grief wasn't any less, but their house just wasn't right without a dog, and they loved the new addition.

I think I'm going to have to endorse Berry as an actual user of the area. Minerva is very beautiful, but it's unclear if she is for or against crime, so I think she has to be eliminated. 😀

Pianoaholic · 05/09/2025 21:32

Herbie thinks Berry should remain mayor (as a fellow cat with a black smudge on his nose!)

Is 4 the teeny tiny scrap of previous posts? What beautiful kitties you have!😻

learieonthewildmoor · 06/09/2025 17:08

Yes, Pudmyboy, Four is one year old now and a glorious fluff ball. She has only just lost her kitten face.
Cat Three has been her big brother who has taught her the ways of the world so she has a lot mistaken perceptions: doors and bathrooms are scary; it’s a good idea to eat Cat One’s food for him; jump onto the dresser with the runner, nothing bad will happen.
She walks all over the kitchen bench when dh is cooking and he lets her.
Bonus photo of Cat One teaching her the ways of the pot.
In a couple of years she might be nearly as glorious as Sybil.

The dementia choir performed today (I'm the conductor) and it was at a village fete doodah.

Met some gorgeous NMSPs.
This is Fudge. He is training to go into hospitals and nursing homes.

When not stuffing himself with grass, obvs.

What sort of repertoire do you sing in the choir?

Love the NMSP!

HumanToCatBeasties · 06/09/2025 18:40

Fudge is beautiful. I was trying to work out what an NMSP was until the picture posted.
