..... behind Gizmo, of course.

Calling all cats! Come and get some chicken.

I don't want to give the impression that I spend/waste a lot of money on stuff for the cats, but there may have been a pirate ship at one point in my room and there may also be a pirate outfit that sadly never got combined with the theoretical ship.

Cat Two is SLEEPING IN A CAT BED. I repeat. MY CAT IS SLEEPING IN A CAT BED.
I am unsure if this is a protest of some kind.

Rum: buying a pirate ship for your cat is entirely normal once you cross the line over to mad cat lady. Just repeat that to yourself.
Don’t buy a pusher for your cats, though: that’s going too far and cannot be justified. Dog people do it. So shameful.

EmpressaurusKitty · 04/09/2025 03:28

I’ve got a neighbour with an elderly Jack Russell. He can’t walk very far now but he still loves seeing his mates in the park, so she wheels him there, he gets out to play & then has a nap on the ride home.

I expect the cat bed use is part of a plot, Learie. Are you sure Cat Two isn’t hiding something in there?

Allergictoironing · 04/09/2025 07:34

NMG alert.

I met what's possibly the oldest Greyhound in the UK yesterday - 16!

She was very very skinny, but coat in perfect condition and bright and alert. Demanded plenty of fuss from me, and was clearly doted on by her owners.

I know we don't normally mention D.O.G.S. on here, but I thought this was an amazing age for the breed.

Defiantly41 · 04/09/2025 08:42

@learieonthewildmoor on her recent visit to the Cattery, Bonnie jumped straight into this charming bed and laid claim to it. I’m not stupid enough to think I should get one for her at home though 🐈‍⬛

Kettle pulled off his two breakfast scam today. Doesn't often work but he had an early breakfast from DH who had to leave the house before the rest of us were up. Then managed to persuade DD that he hadn't had anything (despite the bowls on the floor 🙄).

He's not going to be pleased at dinner time when I tell him he's already had it! But for now extremely happy with his generous humans who seem to have finally realised that he's wasting away.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/09/2025 10:02

Just out of interest - do people here feed their mogs to a schedule or just on demand?
We put food down when the bowls are empty or when one of the cats yells at us. 🤣

Esgaroth · 04/09/2025 10:06

Two meals a day of set size and at roughly similar times. Because otherwise he would eat far too much and be obese.

You're lucky your cats are sensible!

Lenny the scruff wants to move to Shetland.

One bowl first thing & the next one when she wants it.

Shetland?

Well he's dug out a book about Shetland to sit on 😁

I’ve just been asked for a report on our department’s September performance. By next Tuesday.

I’ve pointed out the obvious issue with that but it did make me wonder if I should get Kitty to use her Ouija board once I’ve picked it up, & see if anyone challenges the figures.

RumNotRun · 04/09/2025 11:44

I try to only feed the tribe twice a day but they don't approve and often shout until they also get lunch. Sometimes Lex and Toad decide that they would also like a second breakfast but so far I have managed to not give in. A lot of the time they still have food down when they're shouting for more, so we get into a bit of a stand off.

Esgaroth · 04/09/2025 11:45

Report that your department will do very well in September and also meet a dark handsome stranger...

(Send them a photo of one of the black cats on this thread to make sure it comes true).

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/09/2025 11:54

We feed our cats on demand, although if it's Gizmo doing the demanding, we check with each other about the time of the last feed.
Gizmo would literally eat all day long. He hasn't got a functioning FULL button.

Neither have I

HumanToCatBeasties · 04/09/2025 12:03

I used to have a routine of carefully measured food, but that's currently gone out the window since I'm only feeding them wet food at the moment and I don't want to waste it. I also failed to clamp down on Boris demanding food from me stupidly early in the morning. He now knows that if poking me in the face with his paw a few time isn't enough to get me up and feeding him pre-breakfast, then if he jumps from the top of the door and lands worryingly close to my face will work. Despite being overweight Matilda is generally unbothered about pestering me for food.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/09/2025 12:32

Gizmo has found a convenient little cardboard mat to sit on, for when he wants to tell me that he deserves more cat treats.

We feed Herbie at set times with set amounts.
If we fed on demand, he would live mainly I the kitchen, by his food bowl!

Breadcat24 · 04/09/2025 15:09

Paws crossed and good wishes for Bready please. She struggled to walk today and then collapsed. Mobile vet came said to take her in, her heart stopped again at the vets.
She is there on a drip.
I know you guys understand

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 04/09/2025 15:18

We do indeed understand.

xx

Pianoaholic · 04/09/2025 15:19

Oh I am very sorry to hear that. Really hoping she'll be OK @Breadcat24

Breadcat24 · 04/09/2025 15:26

@Pianoaholic and @OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon
Thank you
they said they will call, or we go back at 6. I do not know what to do. Cannot just sit here and cry.

learieonthewildmoor · 04/09/2025 15:32

You cry as much as you need, Bready. Too sad.

EmpressaurusKitty · 04/09/2025 15:35

Oh @Breadcat24, I’m so sorry. Really hope she’ll be ok xxx
