Calling all cats! Come and get some chicken.

I have had a fantastic day today. My dad randomly transferred some money into my account. I actually phoned him to make sure he did it on purpose as this is MOST unlike him. Of course I spent some of it on presents for the cats. Some solid catnip balls, treats (which only Ghostie likes), and two boxes of pouches - Felix and some brand from Jolleys. The greedy little monsters had their normal cans for breakfast and have eaten about 25 pouches between them for lunch and dinner. Lex is trying to tell me he is still hungry!

EmpressaurusKitty · 25/08/2025 21:45

That’s brilliant, @RumNotRun! I hope you treated yourself too.

I may have bought one or three bottles of wine! It was perfect timing as payday is still a few days away and my fridge was looking rather empty 😁

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/08/2025 16:22

New freezer has arrived.
In pride of place is a packet of the butcher's Spam.
In fact it's the only thing in there at the moment.
🤣

Excellent. Did it come in a big box?

The spam or the fridge? 🤣

EmpressaurusKitty · 26/08/2025 17:01

Either! 🤣

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/08/2025 18:59

OMG the freezer came in a very big box.

The Spam came in a small bag.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We've added various ice creams to the Spam now. The butcher is delivering tomorrow, so we'll have stuff that can be turned into nutritious meals.

Even I am aware that Spam isn't especially nutritious.

Although we had a Spam Tea tonight to celebrate being in Scotland

Wow, where’s that from?

I’ve never heard of adding ice cream to spam. Is it a Scotland thing?

Pudmyboy · 26/08/2025 19:37

Wanted to share a post from another thread on the Litter Tray: poster has 4 cats: her DH told her she was going through the ManyPaws 😂
I reckon there's a lot of it about!

Aarrggghhh

We had the ice cream for pudding.
Not with the Spam.

Look at this pair pretending to be adorable.

I don’t think I’ve ever met a cat who wasn’t adorable.

Admittedly I haven’t met Grumpy’s current TC.

I agree - even GT is very cute in his own way 😹

EmpressaurusKitty · 27/08/2025 09:25

And the woman who tried to pick Gizmo up apparently thought he was cute.

To be fair I always thought Gizmo was cute too - even when he was trying to rip my arm off 😻

Well, he is when you look at him, and he likes being stroked by passers-by.

Gizmo simply objects to being picked up. Very obviously and aggressively.

To be fair Gizmo also objects to being asked

  1. to do anything he doesn't want to do, or
  2. to stop doing anything he does want to do.

Edited

This is undeniable.

Mind you, he only hissed at us twice yesterday.

The first time was when we were making space for the new freezer in the cupboard. He kept going in there and getting under our feet.

The second time was when we were putting everything back in the cupboard afterwards.

Again, he kept going in there and getting under our feet.

Gizmo knows that the dry cat food lives in the cupboard, and it's his mission in life to find the dry cat food, knock it off the shelf, open it, and stuff himself with it.

Kitty doesn’t like being picked up either, even by me.

Which is reasonable, I’d object to being picked up too.

There’s an elderly black cat down the road who has a big sign on her garden wall, saying that she likes to sit on it & watch people, she’s on a special diet so please don’t feed her, & please don’t pick her up but she loves a stroke. I thought that was a wonderful idea.

I was lucky. My Pud didn't mind being picked up and best of all, loved a belly rub

Chicken, Dreamies and Lickelix - the Excellent Cats form a disorderly queue
EmpressaurusKitty · 27/08/2025 19:35

Kitty likes a belly rub when she’s in the mood. She’ll lie down on one side, then gradually roll over so that both sides and her belly get stroked. Apparently the balcony’s best for this.

Pud sounds like an absolutely glorious cat, @Pudmyboy.
