I was thinking more that Gizmo and Linney might be the attack cats.
Tempted to post a picture of Gizmo on that thread as part of an identity parade 🤣.

Cheek.

The nurse was the victim.

The two cats are apparently known in the area as psychos.

Sapphire (my daughter’s cat, she names all her cats after alcoholic drinks) posing as a plant!

Y'know you could have said she names them after sparking jewels! 😀
Sapphire and black-and-white Gizmo are gorgeous, welcome!

Is Sapphire a drink, then?

I must be so out of touch. I didn't know Gizmo was a drink either?

Misses point entirely

Bombay Sapphire gin.... it's very nice, apparently, so I hear (ignore mysterious clinking noises coming from my kitchen, I am not hiding anything, honest)

RumNotRun · 27/07/2025 12:39

When I first got cats, they were named after alcohol. I think Lex (which was originally Lech like the Polish beer, his mum was Tyskie) is the only one with an alcohol related name now.

Raven is having a very busy and stressful day, the poor thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Gizmo drink! I suspect it would be the sort of drink that looked attractive, lovely colours, but had a surprising kick to it ..

RumNotRun · 27/07/2025 12:45

@Pudmyboy Now I'm imagining Gizmo the drink as a kind of Mad Dog or 20/20,for those who hit their teen drinking years in the early 90s.

Gosh.

I hit my teen drinking years in the 1970s.

There may have been an unfortunate cider incident in the late 1960s as well

Crikey. We’ve got the balcony door open & I’m barefoot & in short sleeves.

Ooh. Almond liqueur and Kahlua.
I think I'd like one of those.

It's a warm day here and I found a strange headless beast in the garden.

Practising camouflage one body part at a time?

Fantastic!! Fame at last for Gizmo! (I know he's famous here, it's global fame I'm talking about!)

Hello, I haven’t posted on these threads for ages, because I couldn’t keep track of them, they move so fast. Sorry to barge in.

Louie the dancing cat came a right cropper tonight, and I just need to tell someone as it’s been really awful. He usually has a mad half hour (what we call the witching hour) after coming in about 10pm. Tonight he was absolutely hyper because we had a roast chicken for dinner and he’s been wild since it went in the oven. Every time the fridge opens (with the leftovers) he’s like a junkie. We were playing with him with one of his mouses, then he flumped down in the hall, in the middle of the floor. Standard. DP stood on him on the way back from the bathroom - hard. He’s 6ft 5 and built like a brick shithouse. He screamed and hissed and ran into the kitchen, then started acting like he was about to be sick, but wasn’t.

We checked him over, he’s okay, been racing around with a ball, eaten and drank, now in his bed. DP was all set to bring him to out of hours but he’s walking fine, jumping up on the sides, dancing, but oh my goodness, what a fright we all got. If he’s off in the morning we’ll obviously ring the vet but I think he’s fine (and I’m the anxious one). It’s usually me who stands on him but I am much smaller. I don’t want to victim blame but he’s a nightmare for being underfoot and I am forever falling over him. I hope we don’t end up being reported for cruelty if we do need to bring him in. DP feels awful.

photos from before his assault.

Oh @Judystilldreamsofhorses they do make the most horrific sounds when you stand on them, don't they? Not that I make a habit of it but a couple of my cats like to get in the way so have been stepped on by me (fattie but usually bare foot/in slippers) or friend (slender but always wearing steel toe cap boots).

I'm sure Louie will be fine. I think a lot of the time cats make ridiculous noises just to share their outrage at the audacity to dare stand on them, rather than just pain, if you see what I mean.

I very much doubt either of you would be reported from cruelty. It was an accident, sadly these things happen but hopefully Louie will remember to not be in the way in future! Big hugs to all of you, the sound does make you feel quite unsettled for a while. I think most (all?) of us have been there at some point.

RumNotRun · 28/07/2025 06:31

@4catsaremylifeHe is adorable. Is he the fourth or do you need to change your username?

Thanks for replying - I just needed a brain dump last night. I didn’t shut him in the kitchen at bedtime, and can confirm he is indeed fine, in our bed pestering from sunrise, even after DP got up and gave him some biscuits. Good job I’m on holiday! (Also a reminder why the kitchen is his bedroom.)

I don’t recall anyone ever standing on our last cat but Louie gets it about once a week, he’s a bugger for trying to “race you” through a door. It’s usually me and a glancing blow though, not DP’s full weight.

He and I are in bed with a cuppa now. Live scenes.
