OMG here's a truly bonkers one.

DO READ THE OP's EDITED VERSION FIRST

Oh bugger, it's been withdrawn.

The kitchen chair is not the most flattering spot for a lie down 😆

Kettle has lost a little weight on his diet over the past few months, despite appearances. According to the feeding guidelines on the packaging he should have just about starved to death by now (though that doesn't account for all the milk and yoghurt he steals).

Snowcat is very brave, Kettle sends congratulations on her impeccable bushcraft and survival skills.

HumanToCatBeasties · 10/07/2025 19:43

Poor Snowcat, that must have been a bit scary for her. Glad she wasn't menaced by the magpies. What did Stripey make of the situation? Was she waiting at the door for her?

Ladies and Grumpy:

May I present an excellent thread for your delectation.
Suggest you just read the OP's posts. It's a lesson in complete entitlement.
I haven't commented myself but it's a wild ride.

Oh my goodness!!! I don't know what's worse, the entitlement or continually using the "word" allot instead of a lot.

Frederick appears to think he is dust.

Well I suppose sweeping up the whole cat would save a lot of time sweeping up cat fur, but he's far too lovely to throw in the bin.

........... it seems to me that Stripey has clearly been to the Gizmo Charm School.

But with the advantage of much prettier floof.

stormsandsunshine · 11/07/2025 09:11

This morning when I went in to wake DD1 up, Stripey was sitting on the flat roof outside her window (which had been open a crack to let air in) looking in. She looked horrified when she saw me and came back in straight away! Perhaps the roof is less intimidating than the actual garden!

Stripey was upstairs and blissfully ignorant of the situation. But Snowcat did the same thing again this morning! She sneaked out when we opened the back door at breakfast time to let some air in and hid in a flowerbed so we didn’t notice she was out there. When I came back from the school run I noticed that Stripey was sitting by the back door watching something intently - and they were staring at each other folornly through the glass.

The glass panel for the cat flap should be ready in about 10 days so assuming Snowcat learns how to use it (and remembers that the cat flap will be in the utility room at the side of the house and not at the big back door) then that should solve her problem.

Maybe she feels harder to reach up there.

I’m sitting on the cat cooling pad & it’s fabulous. I may even use it as a pillow if the temperature gets any hotter.

RumNotRun · 11/07/2025 14:20

@EmpressaurusKitty selfishly Lex and Franken are both using my two cooling mats. I did technically buy them for the cats but that's not the point!

I was also just sitting outside with Miss Ghostie when it dawned on me that she was getting more of my parasol shade than I was.

We had the heating on this morning. I was absolutely freezing.

Still, I'm going to London on Wednesday, where I hope it'll be much hotter.

It's currently 28⁰ in my bedroom. Downstairs is a bit cooler. Agatha is outside somewhere. I think it's too hot even for her! The aircon unit will be on later.

It’s likely to be freezing here too by then. The Met office forecast says the temp will be down to 25C.

Pottering round the garden just now, I came dangerously close to watering my Felis Soporifica.

That would definitely cause the sleeping cat to wake up, outraged.

25°C?

Wouldn't that would be pretty warm? I always find London feels warmer, even when it isn't.

I’m being ironic. It was 32 degrees this afternoon.

Rosemary bushes seem to be the in thing for Excellent Cats at the moment!

HumanToCatBeasties · 11/07/2025 19:34

What temperature is it where you are? @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I live in a freezing cold terrace and this time of year is when I finally get the advantages. It is around 24 degrees inside, which is warmer than I'd like, but bearable.

EmpressaurusKitty · 11/07/2025 20:27

We’ve just been watching a ladybird climbing over the valerian. Kitty showed about as much interest as she showed in the bees on the catnip.

A dog was barking its head off below this morning & she was very unimpressed when it woke her up.

That’s today’s nature diary.

Maybe we should get rosemary next.
