I'm amazed that the first thread has filled up. So he's another thread about the inmates of Toddler Towers!

@Allergictoironing he is huge. It was a shock when I met him. From one of the photos I saw, I thought he was Penelope sized. I was amazed that he only weighs 4.5kg.

This is my current view. Penelope has given up growling at him.

Progress!

Toddlerteaplease · 05/07/2024 09:22

Penelope has just lashed out at paw at Paddington, when he jumped on to her windowsill. First sign of any aggressive behaviour from her. Good girl Penelope!

Lashed out a paw, that should say!

Unrequited :)

Both at the vets this afternoon. I think her eye has improved. Hopefully the vet will agree. He's going for a check up and to get on their health plan.

I’m glad it’s going really well. She does seem to tolerate him a bit more now doesn’t she?

I doubt they will ever be close friends, but toleration is good. I used to have a pair of sister cats. From the same litter and everything and they only ever tolerated each other

Toddlerteaplease · 05/07/2024 15:46

Really well. Is pushing it a bit. But it's definitely improving. I think now her eye is getting better, she's feeling a bit less vulnerable.

Penelope's eye is almost healed! Took Paddington along for a checkup and to get him on the health plan. And the vet absolutely fell in love with him. Couldn't believe how big he is. I had to pop back to the car and left him with her, and when o came back, she said "he's not very bright is he? There's not much going on is there? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 harsh but true.

@Soubriquet same here. Sisters, never been separated, have lived together their entire 18 year lives but toleration is the best I can get! Picture was the closest ever, and they were heavily under the influence of the wood burning stove!

It’s why when people are adamant cats should be rehomed in pairs, when I argue. Not all cats actually want to be. Toleration shouldn’t have to be the reason they live together. Obviously, it would be good for Pen and Pads to like each other but toleration is the barest minimum. I have a single cat. She hates all other cats. Wouldn’t tolerate them in a second

Defiantlynot41 · 05/07/2024 20:01

And with the pic! Ironically they both got on with our old cat though.

The rescue thought that Magic & Maia were inseparable. They weren't. When they settled in. They weren't close. Magic flourished without Maia. And got on much better with Cheddar.

It was interesting that at the vet, Paddington came up to Pen, in her box. And she didn't growl. She always has before. So maybe, being on neutral ground at the cattery will help.

This is great news! 👏

Penelope finally had a go at Pads yesterday. He was standing near her. He looked intimidating, but really wasn't doing anything. He didn't really react.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/07/2024 21:50

She's had an other punch up. She's pood both times it's happened. She's the aggressor. Is that normal?

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 06/07/2024 22:10

Stress can make you open your bowels, so I suppose it’s possible

Toddlerteaplease · 06/07/2024 22:40

She is scared of him. I think because of his size. But he's so soppy.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 06/07/2024 22:41

They settle really quickly after the punch up. And it doesn't seem to particularly upset either of them. I think she's feeling braver now she's feeling better.

Pads has taken to jumping on to the book case. And using ornaments as toys. Cheddar's glass heart seems to be a very good football!

Ahh! Maybe he’s playing with a friend ❤️ or am I looking too much into it 😁

Toddlerteaplease · 08/07/2024 11:51

I wonder what Cheddar would have made of him! But she was very confident. Maia would have hated him. She's very similar personality wise, to Penelope!

Looking smug.
