......... Silent Night.........

Well, maybe not so silent when there's a cat about who wants to be fed.

Join us in the run up to Christmas 2023!

It's so bloody cold here today Leroy made it no further than the lavender. I was pretty relieved tbh 😁

Gotta love the way his fluffy bloomers sploof out when he sits 🥰

Since this is the Christmas thread I am going to put another picture of Linney next to the Christmas tree.

And Sebastian again, in his Christmas jumper, and looking annoyed with DD for forcing him into it.

Munchkin has packed her little rucksack and gone off exploring. Am trying to not worry too much but fear I may be doing a tour of the neighbourhood this evening, shaking Dreamies.

And Leroy in his Christmas Coat. You can never have too many of Leroy in his Christmas Coat 😂

The wanderer returns (for dinner). All that exploring gives you an appetite.

A colleague from work put her tree up today. She has just shared this photo.

It’s just asking for trouble isn’t it? My parents have delayed getting the tree to tomorrow morning but for most cats I give it approximately a minute before they try to climb, leap or “help decorate”. I’m beginning to thing we should install some kind of bouncy mattress safety system but for the trees!
Agree about Leroy in his Christmas coat! Adorable photos! Where do you live by the way? He looks pretty furry already and most of our cats have had fine short fur, currently living in SE England but seem to be fine with frost and snow. Or is it for what looks like his harness? I can only imagine how cool you both look strolling around, decked out in festive attire :) please tell me he gets to go out in that on Christmas Day and you accompany him with a tinsel hat, wishing the neighbours a happy Christmas and giving them a smile!

I think the heated blanket has melted Frankenstein. He rarely, if ever, sleeps sprawled out like this. I'm not getting this blanket back, am I?

I'm not going to decorate much this year. I will be away and I don't trust Penelope an inch. Especially as she can climb. The other three have lulled me into a false sense of security.

pointythings · 02/12/2023 21:27

No tree in this house - Canelloni is a climber and so now is Lasagne. I have strung lights in a double zig zag across the living room and our ornaments will be hung from that, tantalisingly out of cat reach (yes, we did leap test).

No tree here either, I will probably do the traditional Cornish holly branch with a few lights and decorations, but hang it well out of reach.

Grumpystripes · 02/12/2023 22:00

Excellent cats here hiding from the pre-Christmas visit from my brother's dog. It is not well trained. Luckily the excellent cats are both fast and agile so have avoided it, but are Not Happy.

@Grumpystripes can they intimidate the dog mildly? I’ll never forget our very tough moggy just appearing at the top of the stairs and giving the local Labrador A Look. The dog never troubled us again and was totally cowed when we were in charge.

@pointythings love the names! Nice looking cats.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 02/12/2023 22:15

@catsmere thanks for your message on the other thread, thought I’d tag you in on this one! Daisy and Phoebe are consistently adorable little bundles of cuteness!

catscalledbeanz · 02/12/2023 22:17

My little Twig exhausted after attacking the tree repeatedly as I put it up today 😄

Sadly the dog is very noisy and barky so they're a bit frightened. Is held out hope that girl cat (black) would bash the dog on the nose. Also had held out hope that my brother would actually do what he'd agreed and shut the dog in his crate....

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 02/12/2023 22:22

@catscalledbeanz someone has to save humanity. Brave little Twig, putting his life on the line so you don’t suffer the horrible fate of (gasp) a vertical Christmas tree. Velvet’s a bit busy having evening playtime but she’ll shed a little Bengal tear in admiration of his selfless sacrifice. It’ll just be later.

pointythings · 02/12/2023 22:42

@CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau why thank you! I have a total of 5, but the others are not Christmas tree climbers - the others are Tortellini (black), Fettucine (tabby) and Rigatoni (the other ginger and white one, he's Cannelloni's brother).

@CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau - yep, it's a Mynwood Jacket. Leroy has FIV so can't go out like a normal cat. He gets two walks a day, more for mental stimulation than physical exercise though - I do NOT run 😂 He does get to play in the garden unfettered, but under very close supervision. He'll wear his Christmas Coat every day in December 😊

@RumNotRun - no you are not getting that blanket back. Ever. Soz.

RumNotRun · 02/12/2023 22:45

Vixen doesn't get all the fuss about Christmas trees, or so she says. I am under no illusion and am sure that if I ever get a Christmas tree she will work with her tribe to destroy it.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 02/12/2023 22:46

Very eclectic but original choice of names! Tortellini does look slightly as if he may be planning slight revenge though…

Mogloveseggs · 02/12/2023 22:49

Any hints on how to keep cats away from Xmas trees? Last year we had one young cat-tree could cope. This year we have another two and they are very boisterous. I fear a catastrophe sorry will happen!

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 02/12/2023 22:50

@YesItsMeIDontCare bless poor Leroy, but at least he gets some outside time :) so glad he and other cats get opportunities they wouldn’t without their lovely humans. I’m sure you being a lot of joy to passersby :) :) my mother has floated the idea of walking V but she’s going to take to that like a sea lion to aviation frankly.
