......... Silent Night.........

Well, maybe not so silent when there's a cat about who wants to be fed.

Join us in the run up to Christmas 2023!

Ooh! @TheBalletCats Sotromivab is awesome! I’ve had it twice now with no side effects at all and I’ve actually felt really good afterward. (and it helps all month long as I’ve no immune system so it kept me healthy for a month!)

Defiantlynot41 · 08/12/2023 22:12

Ahem Grumpy, speaking of Cedric, any recent pics?

Catsmere · 08/12/2023 22:28

Sorry, I dropped out of the thread for a bit - partly because Christmas doesn't really play a part in my life, and since yesterday, Mum's in hospital. She had a fall, they took her in to check her over and it turns out she has a lower respiratory tract infection! She'll be in for a few days getting antibiotics and she was on oxygen last night. Since there's nothing I can do until I hear back, I'm taking the weekend off - the kitties came out and watched telly and supurrvised the knitting last night.

I hope your mum's on the mend soon, Catsmere.

I'd also like to see some Cedric pics please - long time lurker on these threads and always enjoyed Cedric's chubby cheeks.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/12/2023 23:33

Well now you come to mention it...

Rapidly coming to the conclusion that Doris is evil (and huge) 🤣.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/12/2023 23:37

I'm missing some old regulars - the poster formally known as Fluffy (and Puddy) and Shady and his lady amongst others :(

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 09/12/2023 00:22

Aw, best wishes to your mum @Catsmere.
I’m assuming as a newcomer that Doris is that cuddly but vaguely threatening brown tabby? She does look truly enormous! But I’m assuming she’s just sticking around in case she needs to defend her friend.

Catsmere · 09/12/2023 00:59

Thanks @CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau !

I took the opportunity this morning to get rid of a couple of old tables (just bought much better adjustable laptop tables from eBay) and pop into my LYS to let them know what's happened so they won't be surprised if I'm not at the Tuesday group. Also found what will hopefully be a decent summer cardigan at an op shop. I love knitting but fine yarn on fine needles, never again!

Daisy's more or less forgiven me for deserting her for a whole hour, but she's keeping watch just in case. Phoebe's got the wanders.

Doris the malevolent 😂

Although Cedric looks unbothered by the looming presence behind/above her.

Papergirl1968 · 09/12/2023 10:21

I’m sorry to hear that, Catsmere. A worrying time for you.
I had cuddles with Matt last night. A mouthful of fur and a crushing weight on my chest…

I love Doris's outraged expression! 😂

TheShellBeach · 09/12/2023 10:31

Matt looks very contented there, Papergirl.

And I hope you get better news of your mum today, Catsmere.

Papergirl1968 · 09/12/2023 10:36

He's very loving and very hungry at the moment, Shell.
The two may be connected...

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/12/2023 11:27

I requested some more Doris and Cedric pics from FWK . She has obliged.

Hmm, I might have changed my mind on Doris v Cedric and which one is more evil… Cedric is so good at presenting himself as a fluffy ball of fun by the looks of things that he is undoubtedly planning world domination.

I’m just joking, they both seem adorable.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/12/2023 11:47

Cedric is far too dim to plan world domination. It's definitely Doris that's the evil one 🤣.

Meanwhile I'm supposed to be doing things but am incapussitated by Karl.

Linney discovered the joys of licking plates which had contained baked beans this morning.

Being incapussitated means you are absolved from any jobs today Grumpy.

twobluechickens · 09/12/2023 12:34

I love that photo of Doris smiling. She reminds me of Bagpuss in it.

The tummy floof is just too tempting.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 09/12/2023 12:53

I would just be stroking the floof all day! Not that I don’t stroke Velvet a lot all the time. She’s that rare cat who actually doesn’t attack you for stroking her tummy, even though they suspected at the shelter that she’d been kicked in the ribs (arrived with a swollen tummy and her ribs actually do feel beaded in the same way my broken and healed ribs do on one side).

Karl is doing you a favour by incapussitating you. He knows that sometimes the burden of Things gets too much and we need a break. He’s doing that and being a furry hot water bottle!

twobluechickens · 09/12/2023 12:56

Also incapussitated but tbh that's because I picked her up and put her on my lap and she obligingly curled up. She gets a good view out of the windows from here and it's a bit warmer than the window sill!

Cecile both Girlcat and her late very lamented brother Boycat adore having tummy rubs. Apparently it's a sign of trust, and possibly recognising who where all good things come from.

Last trip out of the kitchen at night to the living room (maybe 6 steps) involves at least 3 and up to 5 incidents of Girlcat throwing herself dramatically at the floor and writhing about for belly scritches. She doesn't do laps, but will sit next to me on the sofa with the belly presented in a tempting manner. And she lies on the back of the sofa with me standing behind her leaning on the back (good position for me bad back) with my arms round her, one hand stroking the belly and one under her chin or behind her ears.

Boycat's favorite things included lying on my bed with us spooning, with one hand stroking the belly.

Tobias isn't yet ready for me to try the belly, we are only at the stage of (mostly) being able to stroke while he's eating wet food.

Papergirl1968 · 09/12/2023 14:01

Those fluffy tums...😻
It makes me so sad and angry to hear that, Cecile. Utter bastards. Thank goodness she has her lovely mummy now to fuss her.
I've had to push Matt off because he was making biscuits on my shoulder and it hurt. He's also far too heavy to stand in me. He's now lying curled up by me but with his back pointedly to me. Clearly I have offended...
