......... Silent Night.........

Well, maybe not so silent when there's a cat about who wants to be fed.

I thought that was a real squirrel. I blame the tiny photos on the app 😁

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 15/01/2024 02:09

OK I have a story about this. A Siamese we had - about velvets size but less fat - actually had his leg chewed down to the tendon and the bone. He was fractionally more clever but only fractionally. Never walked properly again and definitely no jumping and running. The culprit - witnessed -was a squirrel. In America they so common and they’re basically considered rats with fluffy tails (squirrels not cats).

I'm at work. In one of those porta-cabins that's not really portable, iykwim... and something (probably a fox) has died underneath 🤢😷

Today is not great 🤦🏼‍♀️

RumNotRun · 15/01/2024 10:03

@YesItsMeIDontCare that does not sound like a good day. Is someone going to remove the dead body? Poor fox 🦊

YesItsMeIDontCare · 15/01/2024 10:25

@RumNotRun - Apparently not. It's impossible to safely get under there 😔

RumNotRun · 15/01/2024 11:10

That's horrible. The smell is going to last for ages! Also, let's hope it is a fox not a human body that's somehow been stashed there. (I may have been watching and reading too much crime stuff)

YesItsMeIDontCare · 15/01/2024 11:19

Lol! No person could fit under there!

There was a family of foxes living there so I think they've put 2 + 2 together.

I'd probably be less sad if it was a person 🙈

I love true crime as well, and that thought had entered my head, too.

Unlikely, but you never know.

I was thinking that I don't know whether to say let's hope it's a fox not a person, as I think dead animals can be more upsetting.

Toad doesn't think the dead (cooked) chicken in my fridge is upsetting though, other than it upsetting him that he hasn't been given the whole thing to eat.

Catsmere · 15/01/2024 19:34

Toad is quite right. It's very upsetting that humans wilfully deny food to poor starving kitties.

RumNotRun · 15/01/2024 19:45

The magic "MN feed the 5000 for a year" chicken does not exist in a house with cats.

The poor starving fiends were so weak from lack of chicken that they had to lie in a cat bed. Together!! I have now taken pity on them and given them lots of chicken and apologised for my cruelty.

Poor, poor babies! 🙀🙀

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 15/01/2024 20:09

Agree, poor babies. They do look like two average size cats managing to exist in a normal cat basket whereas velvet, although increasingly spherical, somehow manages to get her forepaws and tail overflowing the huge basket despite being a tiny fine-boned cat. She also managed to actually take up an entire bed today although she’s about six inches across when she’s being a little cinnamon roll. I tried to shoo her gently to the side slightly and she reproached me and returned to the middle of the bed. Pretty much the exact middle but closer to the head end so I ended up just sitting there needing a nap while she dozed happily.
Can’t remember if I’ve posted this yet but huge milestone in that she slept on me for the first time today! I was under covers and she was in a rather awkward position on my bottom (I was lying on my front, so when she was stretching it was sort of dangerously close to my buttocks) but I’d really like her to be able to settle on my lap eventually and everyone else’s if she wants and this is a huge step. She did it!
Slightly grimmer one in that my mother has removed velvet three times - two times physically and one with bribery - today from my room. She’s really making it a huge issue that she wants Velvet to love her more than me and since I might need another urgent admission to hospital soon and a longer one in future I am afraid she’ll stop loving me (Velvet, not my my mother, she stopped doing that ages ago).
Photo: me inexpertly trying to capture the sideways crawl horizontally along the stairs. It’s like the Exorcist but a cute little cat and she’s going across the front of a stair. I didn’t photograph it but please accept this humble attempt.

Cecile! The first mum slumber! How lovely.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 16/01/2024 16:56

Oh dear.

I have anorexia and am on nutritionally complete strawberry flavoured shakes and guess who (after a short race to my bed which I miraculously won and therefore prevented the occupation of by a certain small creature) proceeded to drink said shake out of my glass? Don’t worry, it was just a few laps, and nothing in it will hurt her.

Naughty and also incredibly strange girl. But she’s been forgiven after a bit of snurring on my bed. Roughly ten seconds.

Supersimkin2 · 16/01/2024 21:03

Don’t worry at all, Prince eats more butter than I do. Cats love dairy.

Very, very sorry about the anorexia - it’s a little brute as diseases go while it lasts. Hope you’re climbing out of it. It’s worth the uphill battle.

Good job her tail is providing the same kind of protection as Basil's modesty leaf did.

Risqué! Love the fluff (we should have a love the fluff month on here for longhairs. And a Sphinxes are minxes month for cats with almost no hair? The latter needs improvement. Then we need a love the slightly less fluff for shorthairs).
It wasn’t an actual milkshake and milk to my knowledge gives them diarrhoea at most, it was a build-up drink mixed with water, so I’m not worried, it was just an odd thing to do for a cat! But thanks for your comment. Re the anorexia, it’s been alternating with bulimia for nearly two decades and it’s a bit shit but unfortunately you mainly just manage it at this point. Thanks for that comment too.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 16/01/2024 21:27

Not cat related but..

🥳 WOOO-HOOOOO 🥳

DH's cancer has completely gone from his liver and there's only a small bit left in his bowel so the surgery will be much more straightforward. Things are looking up 😁

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 16/01/2024 21:28

Yay! Really good news in the circs. Super glad.

TheShellBeach · 16/01/2024 21:35
